Treat loose stool (loose, unformed stools) accompanied by abdominal pain and obstruction of Zang-Fu Qi mechanism. Acupoint: Diji (SP8).
Treat loose stool. Acupoint: Taichong (LR3).
Wang Shi said: I once suffered from Bi syndrome pain. After recovery, loose stools occurred. Moxibustion on the umbilicus stopped the diarrhea immediately. Moxibusting for three consecutive days, the diarrhea ceased after three nights. If treating loose stool, the umbilicus is the primary choice, while Sanyinjiao (SP6) and other acupoints are secondary.
Treat abdominal distension with undigested food in stool (Sunken Stool Diarrhea). Acupoint: Zhongdu (GB35). Treat lower abdominal pain with Sunken Stool Diarrhea, pain between the second toes, dry lips, involuntary salivation, inability to sweat, scorched and falling hair, emaciation and Qi deficiency, heat in the stomach, and poor appetite.
Treat Sunken Stool Diarrhea. Acupoint: Shanglian (ST37).
The *Suwen* states: Wind injury in spring leads to Sunken Stool Diarrhea in summer. If one knows it is caused by wind pathogen, herbal medicine can naturally treat it; even without moxibustion, it causes no harm.
(Attached Discussion)
The *Zisheng Jing* states: The *Suwen* mentions five types of diarrhea/dysentery. First is Wei Xie (Stomach Diarrhea), where food is not digested and stool is yellow. Because the Stomach and Spleen are exterior-interior related, the color is yellow. Second is Pi Xie (Spleen Diarrhea), characterized by abdominal distension and continuous diarrhea, often with upward regurgitation and vomiting; this is a disorder of heat. Third is Dachang Xie (Large Intestine Diarrhea), where bowel sounds are loud and painful after eating, followed by white stool. Because the Large Intestine and Lung are exterior-interior related, the color is white. Fourth is Xiaochang Xie (Small Intestine Diarrhea), characterized by emaciation and pus/blood in stool. Because the Small Intestine and Heart are exterior-interior related, and the Heart governs blood. Fifth is Da Jia Xie (Severe Mass Diarrhea), characterized by tenesmus (urgent need to defecate but little comes out), frequent trips to the toilet with little output, and pain in the urethra; this is Kidney Diarrhea. Various medical texts record over twenty types, but here five are listed as a general outline. In terms of specific prescriptions, there are distinctions among red dysentery, white dysentery, Gan disease, and Gu toxicity. The general cause is coldness of the Zang-Fu organs. As Linqiu Gong said, "All lower body discharges are due to cold." Therefore, when I treat dysentery, I only use Zhenling Dan, which is always effective. If ineffective, increasing the dosage of pills yields results. For Gu-toxicity dysentery, use Baiye Huanglian decoction. Among all dysentery treatments, Qiyu's formula using Houpo (Magnolia Bark) and Yingusuqiao (Poppy Shell) powder is best. Later practitioners added Mugua (Aucklandia), Huanglian (Coptis), and Chenpi (Citrus Peel) in equal parts, half that amount of Gancao (Licorice), several slices of Huangqiao Ye (Poppy Leaf), decocted with Shengjiang (Ginger), Dazao (Jujube), and Wumei (Mume Fruit). I have tested this and found it effective, so I record it here. However, dysentery itself does not present with malignant signs, yet some die due to misdiagnosis. This may be because contemporary physicians treat dysentery as a heat disease and administer too many cold-natured drugs. In urgent cases, moxibustion should also be used; one should not rely solely on herbs.

Treat chronic dysentery unresponsive to various treatments, and also cold dysentery with abdominal pain. Moxibustion on the foot Yangming meridian, one cun below, in the depression above the high bone, three cun from the bifurcation of the big toe. Apply moxibustion according to age. Also moxa the umbilicus 200-300 cones, and Guanyuan (CV4) 300 cones (over ten days).
Treat red/white discharge. Acupoint: Qionggu (GV1 - Coccyx tip). More moxibustion is better.
Treat edema of limbs, excessive sweating, and profuse diarrhea. Acupoint: Daheng (SP15). Moxibustion according to age.
Treat persistent diarrhea/dysentery. Moxa the umbilicus, named Shenque (CV8), 5 or 7 cones. Moxa cones size like a small chopstick head. Also moxa Guanyuan (CV4), 30 cones.
Treat diarrhea/dysentery with poor appetite and indigestion. Moxa along the inner thigh, at the point 5 cun lateral to the umbilicus. Also moxa Changqiang (GV1), 50 cones.
Treat chronic dysentery with loss of Qi and cold due to fatigue. Moxa the lower waist 100 cones, in three sessions. The acupoint is on the spinal bone in the exact center of the Ba Liao (Eight Holes). More moxibustion is better. These three bones (Acupuncture contraindicated).
Treat turbid red/white diarrhea/dysentery. Moxa the foot Taiyin meridian 50 cones, in three sessions.
Treat chronic diarrhea/dysentery unresponsive to treatment. Bend the arm to measure. Mark the point directly above the spine between the two hips. Measure down one cun, mark points one cun to each side. Measure down another cun to meet the spine at three points. Moxa one point 30 cones, another 100 cones. This method stops all dysentery and treats damp-cold stagnation in the spine. Do not moxa the upper hip point.

Treat persistent pus/blood dysentery, combined with hard/rebellious sensation in the lower abdomen. Moxa Youmen (KI15) bilaterally, 3 cones each.
Treat persistent watery dysentery and indigestion. Needle Tian Shu (ST25) bilaterally, the Mu-Alarm point of the Large Intestine. Located 2 cun lateral to the umbilicus. Insert needle 0.5 cun, retain for 10 breaths. Can also moxa 100 cones.
Treat sudden profuse watery dysentery (*Zisheng Jing*). Acupoint: Qihai (CV6). Moxa 100 cones.
The *Weisheng Baojian* records: In the Yi Hai year of Zhiyuan, the Commander of Liantai (aged over 40) was stationed in Lianshui. The area was damp and low, leading to overwork and irregular diet. By late autumn, malaria and dysentery occurred simultaneously, lasting over a month without improvement. Appetite vanished, and the patient became emaciated. He returned by horse and sedan chair. In mid-winter, he sought treatment from me. Upon detailed inquiry and pulse diagnosis, the pulse was wiry, thin, and faint, like a spider thread. The body felt heavy, hands and feet were cold and reversed, with occasional numbness. Skin had crusts and scabies, resembling Leprosy. The patient lacked strength to move. Abdominal distension and persistent vomiting indicated long-standing cold-dampness, weakening true Qi. Both form and Qi were deficient, as was the pathogenic factor. Yin and Yang were both deficient. The *Zhenjing* states: When Yin and Yang are both deficient, acupuncture is unsuitable, and moxibustion is appropriate. The *Neijing* states: Tonify deficiency, warm exhaustion. The *Shi Ji* states: Tonification removes weakness. Use Lizhong Wan plus Fuzi (Aconite) to warm and nourish the Spleen and Stomach, dispel cold-dampness. Astringents remove collapse; use Yangzang Tang plus Fuzi to secure the intestines and stop diarrhea. Simultaneously apply moxibustion to various acupoints. The classics state: Fu meets at Tai Cang, which is Zhongwan (CV12). First, moxa Zhongwan 50 cones to warm Stomach Qi, allowing intake of nutritious food. Then moxa Qihai (CV6) 100 cones to generate Yuan Qi, nourish meridians, and fill muscles. Then moxa Zusanli (ST36), the He-Sea point of the Stomach, 30 cones, to guide Yang Qi into the Yin aspect, aiding Qi restoration. Moxa Yangfu (GB38) 14 cones to reconnect Yang Qi and warm the calves, dispersing cold. After more than a month, the pathogenic factors disappeared, and the patient gradually recovered, with spirit comparable to his youth.
