Red and white dysentery arises from the weakness of the intestines and stomach, where cold and heat pathogens mutually contend and lodge in the intestinal tract, transforming into dysentery. Generally, when heat invades the blood level, blood flows and seeps into the intestines, resulting in red stool; when cold qi enters and contends, body fluids stagnate and congeal, resulting in white stool. The clinical manifestations include tenesmus (a feeling of incomplete defecation with urgency and heaviness in the rectum), frequent visits to the toilet with inability to pass stool. Due to the interplay of cold and heat pathogens, pus and blood are mixed together.

Cut the ingredients into coarse pieces, divide into two doses. Each dose with 5 slices of ginger, 3 jujubes, and 3 large mume fruits. Decoct and take before meals. For pure red dysentery, add 27 black soybeans; for white dysentery, add 1 qian of dried ginger. Yingsu Qiao is highly effective for dysentery but is astringent and may cause vomiting. When processed with vinegar and combined with mume, it avoids this hazard. It should not be taken by those prone to vomiting. Generally, dysentery was called "Zhixia" (stagnant downflow) in ancient texts, often caused by pre-existing stagnation in the intestines and stomach. In the early stage, do not stop dysentery abruptly. First, take 10-12 pills of Da Badou Ganying Wan, swallowed with white plum decocted tea or ginger soup, to induce mild laxative effect. Then take the decocted medicine. Effect is immediate.
