When a pregnant woman suddenly experiences stabbing pain in the heart and abdomen, to the point of fainting and feeling as if she is about to die, this condition is termed "Zhong E" (Struck by Evil). It refers to evil qi invading the body and harming the fetus. The reason for this is that blood and qi should nourish the body and serve as the master of spirit. If blood and qi are disharmonious and spirit is deficient, toxic evil qi can easily invade. Such diseases during pregnancy can also cause damage to the fetus.
