取鳔胶长八寸，阔二寸，炙令黄，刮二钱已来，用蔗节三十五个，取自然汁调下。
治忧恚呕血，烦闷少气，胸中疼痛。
上用荆芥为末，不拘时候，以生地黄汁，调下二钱。
忧愁思虑会损伤心脏，愤怒导致气机逆乱、上冲不下则会损伤肝脏。因为心主血脉，肝藏血液，这两脏都受损，血液就不能循行于正常的脉道之中。
款冬花丸（出自《圣济总录》）：治疗吐血、唾血，伴有咳嗽气逆、气喘、呼吸短促。
药材：款冬花、紫菀（去苗土各三两）、杏仁（热水浸泡去皮尖及双仁后炒制）、豆豉（炒制各二两半）、人参、桂枝（去粗皮焙干）、生干地黄等。
用法：将药物捣筛为散，每次服用三钱，用水一盏，煎至七分，每日三次，夜间两次服用。
伏龙肝散（出自《太平惠民和剂局方·圣惠方》）：治疗呕血不止，胸膈部烦闷疼痛，心气上逆。
药材：伏龙肝（一两）、桂心、当归、赤芍药、白芷、川芎、甘草（炙至微红并锉碎各一两）、细辛（半两）。
用法：以水一大盏，煎煮至一定量，温服。若患者不能食用阿胶，可去除阿胶。
竹茹散（出自《太平惠民和剂局方·圣惠方》）：治疗呕血日久不愈，心神烦闷，脏腑劳损受伤。
药材：竹茹（一团如鸡蛋大小）、白芍药、当归、生干地黄（各半两）、羚羊角屑、鹿角胶、麦门冬（去心）、生姜（半分）。
用法：加水煎煮，温服。
黄耆散（出自《太平惠民和剂局方·圣惠方》）：治疗内伤导致胸中拘挛疼痛，咳嗽呕吐出血，时而发冷发热，小便色黄，这是由劳损引起的。
药材：黄耆（锉碎一两半）、桂心（一两半）、阿胶（捣碎炒至黄色干燥）、生干地黄、当归、远志（去心）、人参等。
用法：加水煎煮至六分，温服。
泽兰汤（出自《千金方》）：治疗内伤导致的腹部急迫感，胸胁部拘挛疼痛，想要呕血，时而发冷时而发热，小便黄，这些都是因房事过度劳损所致。
药材：泽兰、饴糖（各一斤）、桂心、桑根白皮、人参（各三两）、远志（二两）、生姜（五两）、麻仁等。
用法：忌劳累。
麦门冬汁（出自《圣济总录》）：治疗呕吐出血及鼻衄。
药材：生麦门冬（取汁）、生地黄（取汁）、生藕（取汁）、冷熟水（各一盏）、白药（一两研为末）。
用法：混合均匀，每次服用适量。
泽兰汤（出自《圣济总录》）：治疗内伤导致的胸内急痛，咳嗽呕吐出血，时而发冷发热，小便黄赤。

生地黄汤（出自《千金方》）：治疗因忧怒导致的呕血，烦闷胀满、气短，胸中疼痛。
药材：生地黄（一斤）、大枣（五十枚）、阿胶、甘草（各三两）。
用法：将药物切碎，以水一斗，煮取四升，分次服用。
四味丸（又名四生丸）：治疗呕血、吐血、衄血，如果是阳热乘阴，血热妄行，适宜服用此药。（方剂见四生丸条下）
主治：治疗忧怒导致的呕吐，烦闷胀满、气短，胸中疼痛。
用法：用侧柏叶捣罗为散，不限时候，用米粥饮调下二钱。
荆芥饮（出自《圣济总录》）：治疗呕血不止。
药材：荆芥穗、栀子仁、黄芩（去黑心）、蒲黄（各一两）。
用法：粗捣筛，每次服用三钱，水一盏，煎至七分，温服。
阿胶散（出自《经验良方》）：治疗损伤导致的呕血，开胃。
药材：阿胶（三个好的炒制）、木香（一钱）、糯米（一合半）。
用法：研为细末，每次服用一钱，用滚开水点服，不拘时候。

药材：羚羊角（镑片一两半）、桂枝（去粗皮二两）、大黄（锉碎炒制一两）。
用法：粗捣筛，每次服用三钱，水一盏半，煎煮服用。
刺蓟散（出自《太平惠民和剂局方·圣惠方》）：治疗呕血、头痛高热，全身疼痛，四肢烦闷。
药材：刺蓟、青竹茹（各一两）、鸡苏叶、白茯苓（各半两）、麦门冬（一两半去心焙干）。
用法：研为散，每次服用适量，温服。
五灵脂饼子（出自《圣济总录》）：治疗吐血、呕血。
药材：五灵脂（一两）、芦荟（二钱）。
用法：用药滴水和丸，如鸡头大，捏作饼子，每次服用二饼，用龙脑浆水送下。
赤芍药汤（出自《医方大成》）：治疗瘀血蓄积在胃，心下部胀满，进食后立即呕血，名叫血呕。
药材：赤芍药（二两）、半夏（一两半，热水炮制七次）、陈皮（一两）。
用法：切碎，每次服用四钱，水一盏半，加生姜七片，煎煮服用。
阿胶汤（出自《圣济总录》）：治疗呕血，烦闷胀满、气短，胸中疼痛。
药材：阿胶（炙至干燥）、甘草（炙一两半）。
用法：粗捣筛，每次服用三钱，水一盏，加入生地黄汁三合，同煎至一定量，温服。
大蓟饮（出自《济生方》）：治疗呕血、吐血。
药材：大蓟汁、生地黄汁（等分）。
用法：混合均匀，加入少许姜汁、少许生蜜，搅匀冷服，不拘时候。
治呕血（出自《本草》）：
选用优质的黄柏，用蜂蜜涂布炙干，杵为末，用麦门冬熟水调下二钱匕，立即痊愈。
生姜竹茹汤（出自《指南方》）：治疗呕血。
药材：竹茹、甘草、川芎、黄芩、当归（各一两半）、白术、芍药、官桂、人参（各一两）。
用法：研为末，煎煮服用。
治唾血（出自《本草》）：
取鳔胶长八寸，宽二寸，炙令黄色，刮取二钱左右，用蔗节三十五个，取自然汁调下。
治忧恚呕血，烦闷少气，胸中疼痛：
以上用荆芥为末，不拘时候，用生地黄汁调下二钱。
Sorrow and excessive thinking damage the Heart (Zang-organ), while anger causes Qi (Vital Energy) to rebel and ascend without descending, thereby damaging the Liver (Zang-organ). Since the Heart governs Blood (Xue) and the Liver stores Blood (Xue), injury to both organs results in Blood failing to circulate within the normal vessels.
Kuandonghua Wan (Caulis Flos Flos Decoction Pill) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] treats hematemesis (vomiting blood), spitting of blood, accompanied by cough with rebellious Qi, panting, and shortness of breath.
Ingredients: Caulis Flos Flos (Tansy Flower), Radix Asteris Tatarici (Aster Root) (deprived of sprouts and soil, each 3 liang), Semen Pruni Armeniacae (Apricot Seed) (soaked in hot water, skin and tip removed, double-kernel stir-fried), Fermented Soybean (Stir-fried, each 2.5 liang), Radix Ginseng, Ramulus Cinnamomi (bark removed and baked), Radix Rehmanniae Preparata (Dried Prepared Rehmannia Root).
Administration: The herbs are pounded and sifted into a powder. Take 3 qian per dose, decoct with one zhan of water until reduced to 0.7 zhan. Take warm at any time. Three doses daily and two doses at night.
Fulonggan San (Dragon's House Earth Powder) [Source: *Shenghui Fang*] treats persistent hematemesis, vexation and pain in the chest and diaphragm, and rebellious Heart Qi.
Ingredients: Fulonggan (Dragon's House Earth, 1 liang), Ramulus Cinnamomi (Guixin), Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Paeoniae Rubra, Radix Angelicae Dahuricae, Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (stir-baked until slightly red and crushed, each 1 liang), Radix Asari (0.5 liang).
Administration: Decoct with one large zhan of water. If Ejiao is not suitable for the patient, it may be omitted.
Zhuru San (Bamboo Shavings Powder) [Source: *Shenghui Fang*] treats chronic hematemesis that has not healed, mental restlessness, and visceral fatigue/injury.
Ingredients: Zhuru (Bamboo Shavings, one piece the size of a chicken egg), Radix Paeoniae Alba, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Rehmanniae Recens (each 0.5 liang), Cornu Saigae Tataricae (cut into flakes), Cornu Cervi Colla, Radix Ophiopogonis (heart removed).
Administration: Add 0.5 fen of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Fresh Ginger), decoct and take.
Huangqi San (Astragalus Powder) [Source: *Shenghui Fang*] treats internal injury causing cramping pain in the chest, coughing and vomiting blood, alternating chills and fever, and dark yellow urine; this is caused by overexertion/fatigue.
Ingredients: Radix Astragali (crushed, 1.5 liang), Ramulus Cinnamomi (1.5 liang), Cornu Cervi Colla (crushed and stir-baked until yellow and dry), Radix Rehmanniae Recens, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Polygalae (heart removed), Radix Ginseng.
Administration: Add 0.5 fen of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, decoct until reduced to 0.6 zhan, strain, and take warm.
Zelan Tang (Lycopus Decoction) [Source: *Qianjin Fang*] treats internal injury causing abdominal urgency, cramping pain in the chest and hypochondrium, desire to vomit blood, alternating chills and fever, and yellow urine; all caused by sexual exhaustion.
Ingredients: Herba Lycopersi, Maltose (each 1 jin), Ramulus Cinnamomi, Cortex Morus Radicis, Radix Ginseng (each 3 liang), Radix Polygalae (2 liang), Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (5 liang), Semen Cannabis.
Dietary Advice: Avoid labor.
Mendong Zhi (Ophiopogon Juice) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] treats vomiting blood and epistaxis.
Ingredients: Radix Ophiopogonis Recens (juice), Radix Rehmanniae Recens (juice), Rhizoma Nelumbinis Nuciferae Recens (juice), cold boiled water (each 1 zhan), Baiyao (1 liang, powdered).
Administration: Mix evenly. Take appropriate amount.
Zelan Tang (Lycopus Decoction) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] treats internal injury causing acute pain in the chest, coughing and vomiting blood, alternating chills and fever, and yellow-red urine.
Ingredients: Folium Lycopersi (6 liang), Radix Rhei (crushed and stir-fried), Radix Polygalae (heart removed, each 1 liang), Radix Ginseng (3 liang), Semen Cannabis, Cortex Morus Radicis (crushed, each 4 liang), Radix Rehmanniae Recens.
Shengdihuang Tang (Rehmannia Decoction) [Source: *Qianjin Fang*] treats hematemesis due to sorrow and indignation, vexation and fullness, shortness of breath, and chest pain.
Ingredients: Radix Rehmanniae Recens (1 jin), Fructus Jujubae (50 pieces), Cornu Cervi Colla, Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (each 3 liang).
Administration: Cut the herbs, decoct with 1 dou of water until 4 sheng remains. Divide into four doses.
Siwei Wan (Four Ingredients Pill), also known as Sisheng Wan, treats hematemesis, vomiting blood, and epistaxis. It is indicated when Yang pathogen attacks Yin, causing heat in the blood leading to reckless bleeding. (See entry for Sisheng Wan).
For treating vomiting due to sorrow/indignation, vexation, fullness, shortness of breath, and chest pain:
Use Folium Bletillae (Ce Bai Ye) pounded and sifted into powder. Take 2 qian mixed with rice broth at any time.
Jingjie Yin (Schizonepeta Drink) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] treats persistent hematemesis.
Ingredients: Spica Schizonepetae, Semen Gossampini (Gardenia Seed), Radix Scutellariae (black heart removed), Spora Lycopodii (each 1 liang).
Administration: Coarsely crush and sieve. Take 3 qian per dose, decoct with one zhan of water until reduced to 0.7 zhan. Take warm.
Ejiao San (Colla Corii Asini Powder) [Source: *Jingyan Liangfang*] treats hematemesis due to trauma/injury and opens the stomach.
Ingredients: Cornu Cervi Colla (three good ones, stir-baked), Radix Aucklandoniae (1 qian), Glutinosa Rice (1 he half).
Administration: Pound into fine powder. Take 1 qian per dose, mix with boiling water. Take at any time.
Lingyangjiao Yin (Saiga Antelope Horn Drink) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] treats sudden hematemesis.
Ingredients: Cornu Saigae Tataricae (shaved, 1.5 liang), Ramulus Cinnamomi (bark removed, 2 liang), Radix Rhei (crushed and stir-fried, 1 liang).
Administration: Coarsely crush and sieve. Take 3 qian per dose, decoct with 1.5 zhan of water. Take warm.
Ciji San (Cirsium Powder) [Source: *Shenghui Fang*] treats hematemesis, headache with high fever, generalized body pain, and limb restlessness.
Ingredients: Herba Cirsii, Qingzhuru (Green Bamboo Shavings, each 1 liang), Herba Elsholtziae, Poria (each 0.5 liang), Radix Ophiopogonis (1.5 liang, heart removed and baked).
Administration: Make into powder. Take appropriate dose. Take warm.
Yujin San (Curcuma Powder) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] treats hematemesis.
Wulingzhi Bingzi (Trogopterus Dung Cake) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] treats hematemesis and vomiting blood.
Ingredients: Faeces Trogopterori (1 liang), Radix Atractylodis Macrocephalae (Lu Hui/Aloe, 2 qian).
Administration: Mix herbs with water to form pills the size of a chicken head, shape into cakes. Take 2 cakes per dose, swallow with Longnao Jiangshui (Borneol solution).
Chishaoyao Tang (Red Peony Root Decoction) [Source: *Yifang Dacheng*] treats blood stasis accumulating in the Stomach, distension below the heart, immediate hematemesis after eating, termed "Blood Hematemesis".
Ingredients: Radix Paeoniae Rubra (2 liang), Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparata (1.5 liang, processed in hot water seven times), Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae (1 liang).
Administration: Cut herbs. Take 4 qian per dose, decoct with 1.5 zhan of water and 7 slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens.
Ejiao Tang (Colla Corii Asini Decoction) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] treats hematemesis, vexation and fullness, shortness of breath, and chest pain.
Ingredients: Cornu Cervi Colla (roasted until dry), Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (roasted, 1.5 liang).
Administration: Coarsely crush and sieve. Take 3 qian per dose, decoct with one zhan of water plus 3 he of Radix Rehmanniae Recens juice. Simmer together.
Daji Yin (Great Thistle Drink) [Source: *Jisheng Fang*] treats hematemesis and vomiting blood.
Ingredients: Herba Taraxaci (Juice), Radix Rehmanniae Recens (Juice) (equal parts).
Administration: Mix evenly. Add a little Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens juice and raw honey. Stir well and take cold. Take at any time.
Jingjie Tang (Schizonepeta Decoction) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] treats hematemesis.
Treating Hematemesis [Source: *Bencao*]:
Select high-quality Cortex Phellodendri (Huangbai), coat with honey, roast until dry, pound into powder. Take 2 qianbi (two coin-sized scoops) mixed with Mashui (cooked water of Radix Ophiopogonis). Cure immediately.
Shengjiang Zhuru Tang (Fresh Ginger and Bamboo Shavings Decoction) [Source: *Zhinan Fang*] treats hematemesis.
Ingredients: Zhuru (Bamboo Shavings), Radix Glycyrrhizae, Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Radix Scutellariae, Radix Angelicae Sinensis (each 1.5 liang), Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Radix Paeoniae, Guanni Gui (Official Cinnamon Twig), Radix Ginseng (each 1 liang).
Administration: Make into powder, decoct and take.
Treating Spitting of Blood [Source: *Bencao*]:
Take Bladder Fish Maw (Biao Jiao) 8 cun long and 2 cun wide. Roast until yellow. Scrape off about 2 qian. Mix with natural juice from 35 segments of Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane joint) and take.
Treating Hematemesis due to Sorrow/Indignation, Vexation, Shortness of Breath, and Chest Pain:
Use Jingjie (Schizonepeta) pounded into powder. At any time, take 2 qian mixed with Radix Rehmanniae Recens juice.
