治瘟病大热狂言（出本草）
取白颈蚯蚓。破去土。盐拌。日曝。须臾成水。饮其汁。皆瘥。

以甘蔗捣绞汁服。甚良。
治天行热狂。烦闷消渴。（出本草）
以芭蕉根。绞汁服之。

（附论）
所谓时气发狂，是由于热毒之气亢盛所致。患者会抛弃衣物奔跑，登上高处歌唱，或者几天不进食，翻越墙垣、爬上屋顶，这些行为并非其平素所能做到。这都是阴阳之气相互争搏，邪气向外并合于阳经的结果。四肢是诸阳经的根本所在，热邪亢盛则四肢充实有力，因此能够登高而歌；热邪炽盛于身体，所以抛弃衣物奔跑；胡言乱语、妄见妄闻，都是热毒之气亢盛所造成的。
方剂
栀子散（出自《圣惠方》），治疗时气热毒攻心，导致面目俱红，发狂且不认识人。
药材：栀子仁、葳蕤、茯苓、麦门冬（去心）、川升麻、知母、犀角屑、沙参（去芦）、黄芩、川大黄（锉碎后微炒）、甘草（炒至微赤后锉）。
制法与用法：以上药物等分研为散剂。每次服用四钱，用水一中盏，煎煮至六分，滤去药渣。不分时候，温服。
治时气心神狂躁，言语无度。（出自《圣惠方》）
药材：鸡子（取两个鸡蛋的蛋清）、白蜜（半合）、生地黄汁（一合）、川大黄（半两，锉碎后微炒捣烂）。
制法与用法：将上述药物混合均匀，一次性服下。以大便通畅为度。
白藓皮散
药材：白藓皮（一两五钱）、大青（三分）、羚羊角屑（三分）、玄参（三分）、栀子仁（三分）、黄芩（三分）、川大黄（锉碎后微炒三分）、甘草（炙至微赤后锉三分）、地骨皮（三分）。
制法与用法：以上药物研为散剂。每次服用五钱，用水一大盏，煎煮至五分，滤去药渣。不分时候，温服。
又一方（出自《圣惠方》）
药材：麦门冬（三两，去心）、杏仁（二两，汤浸去皮尖及双仁，麸炒至微黄）、甘草（一两，炙至微赤后锉）、白藓皮（二两）、生干地黄（二两）、黄芩（一两）。
制法与用法：以上药物研为散剂。每次服用五钱，用水一大盏，加入葱白二茎，煎煮至五分，滤去药渣。不分时候，温服。
犀角散（出自《圣惠方》），治疗时气热毒攻心，心烦意乱无法入睡。
药材：犀角屑（一两）、龙齿（一两）、子芩（一两）、沙参（去芦头一两）、葳蕤（一两）、麦门冬（去心一两）、川升麻（一两）、赤茯苓（一两）、赤芍药（一两）、杏仁（汤浸去皮尖及双仁，麸炒微黄一两）、大青（三分）、枳壳（麸炒微黄去瓤三分）、甘草（三分，炙后锉）。

药材：栀子仁（半两）、豉（一合）、葱白（五茎）。
制法与用法：用水两大盏，煎煮后滤去药渣，分两次温服。

药材：大黄（二两，锉碎后微炒）、黄芩（一两五钱）、栀子仁（一两五钱）、大青（二两）、龙胆（一两，去芦头）、苦参（一两，锉）、川朴硝（二两，细研）。
制法与用法：以上药物研为末，加入朴硝拌匀，用炼蜜和捣三五百杵，制成如梧桐子大小的丸剂。不拘时候，用麦门冬汤送服三十丸。
铁粉丸（出自《圣惠方》），治疗时气热毒，心神发躁，狂乱想要奔跑。
药材：铁粉（一两，研）、犀角屑（一两）、朱砂（半两，细研）、苦参（锉一两）、甘草（二两，锉，生用）、朴硝（一两，细研）。
制法与用法：以上药物研为末，研细令匀，用炼蜜和丸，如梧桐子大小。不拘时候，用人参汤送服三十丸。
又一方（出自《圣惠方》）
用法：取蓝靛半大匙，用新汲水一盏，调匀，一次性服下。
治时气天行发狂热疾。
用法：用粪清。在腊月截取淡竹，去掉青皮，浸泡渗取汁液服用。
镇心散 治疗时气汗后发狂。
用法：用紧实的白龙骨，数量不限，研为细末。每次服用二钱，用新汲水调服。有效。
治天行病，六七日，热盛心烦，狂乱见到鬼怪者。
用法：上法绞取人屎汁，饮用数合。另一方，治疗时行大热狂走，用多年的陈者，捣成末，用沸汤冲沃取汁服用。
治瘟病大热狂言（出自《本草》）
用法：取白颈蚯蚓，破开去除泥土，用盐拌，日晒，不久即化成水，饮其汁液，皆能痊愈。
苦患天行热狂（出自《本草》）
用法：用甘蔗捣绞汁液服用，效果很好。

The condition of "Shi Qi Fa Kuang" (Seasonal Pathogen-induced Mania) is caused by the flourishing of heat-toxin qi. Patients may discard their clothes and run, climb high places to sing, or refrain from eating for several days, jumping over walls and climbing onto roofs. These behaviors are not within their normal capabilities. This results from the contention between Yin and Yang, where pathogenic factors merge outwardly with the Yang meridians. The four limbs are the root of all Yang meridians; when heat is excessive, the limbs become solid and strong, enabling the patient to climb and sing. Heat excess in the body causes the discarding of clothes; delirious speech and hallucinations are all caused by the flourishing of heat-toxin qi.
Formulas
Zhizi San (Gardenia Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats Shi Qi heat-toxin attacking the Heart, causing redness of the face and eyes, mania, and loss of recognition.
Ingredients: Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus), Weirui (Polygonati Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, heart removed), Chuan Shengma (Bupleuri Radix), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Xijiao Xie (Rhinocerotis Cornu, shaved), Shashen (Adenophorae Radix, radix removed), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, chopped and slightly stir-fried), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, stir-fried until slightly reddish and chopped).
Preparation and Administration: Equal parts of the above ingredients are ground into a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add one zhong of water, decoct until reduced to six-tenths, remove the dregs, and take warm at any time.
Treats Shi Qi mental restlessness and excessive speech. [from *Shenghui Fang*]
Ingredients: Jizi (Egg White, two eggs), Baimi (Meli Medulla), Shengdihuang Zhi (Rehmanniae Radix Fresh Juice), Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, half liang, chopped, slightly stir-fried, and pounded).
Preparation and Administration: Mix evenly and take in one dose. Stop when bowel movement occurs.
Baixianpi San (Phellodendri Cortex Powder)
Ingredients: Baixianpi (Phellodendri Cortex, 1.5 liang), Daqing (Isatidis Folium, 3 fen), Lingyangjiao Xie (Saigae Tataricae Cornu, shaved, 3 fen), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, 3 fen), Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus, 3 fen), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 3 fen), Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, chopped, slightly stir-fried, 3 fen), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried until slightly reddish and chopped, 3 fen), Digupi (Lycii Cortex, 3 fen).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into a powder. Take 5 qian per dose. Add one da zhan of water, decoct until reduced to five-tenths, remove dregs, and take warm at any time.
Another Formula [from *Shenghui Fang*]
Ingredients: Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, 3 liang, heart removed), Xingren (Pruni Semen, 2 liang, soaked in water, skin and tips removed, double-kernel bran-fried until slightly yellow), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang, honey-fried until slightly reddish and chopped), Baixianpi (Phellodendri Cortex, 2 liang), Sheng Gan Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, 2 liang), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into a powder. Take 5 qian per dose. Add one da zhan of water and two stems of Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus), decoct until reduced to five-tenths, remove dregs, and take warm at any time.
Xijiao San (Rhinoceros Horn Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats Shi Qi heat-toxin attacking the Heart, causing irritability and insomnia.
Ingredients: Xijiao Xie (Rhinocerotis Cornu, shaved, 1 liang), Longchi (Dentis Mamuthi Fossum, 1 liang), Zixin (Scutellariae Radix, 1 liang), Shashen (Adenophorae Radix, radix removed, 1 liang), Weirui (Polygonati Rhizoma, 1 liang), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, heart removed, 1 liang), Chuan Shengma (Bupleuri Radix, 1 liang), Chi Fuling (Poria with Red Hosta Root, 1 liang), Chi Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra, 1 liang), Xingren (Pruni Semen, soaked in water, skin and tips removed, double-kernel bran-fried until slightly yellow, 1 liang), Daqing (Isatidis Folium, 3 fen), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, bran-fried until slightly yellow, pith removed, 3 fen), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 3 fen, honey-fried and chopped).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into a powder. Take 5 qian per dose. Add one da zhan of water, decoct until reduced to five-tenths, remove dregs, and take warm at any time.

Ingredients: Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, stamens removed, 1 liang), Qinjiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix, seedlings removed, 1 liang), Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus, 1 liang), Tiefen (Ferrum Oxydatum Rubrum, 2 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into a powder. Take 2 qian per dose mixed with Xinji Shui (freshly drawn cold water) at any time.
Another Formula [from *Shenghui Fang*]
Ingredients: Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus, half liang), Chi (Faber Semen, 1 he), Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus, 5 stems).
Preparation and Administration: Add two da zhan of water, decoct, remove dregs, and divide into two warm doses.
Treats Shi Qi mania. [from *Shenghui Fang*]
Ingredients: Hanshuishi (Calcitum, 1 liang), Mayaxiao (Natrii Sulfas, 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind finely like flour. Take 1 qian mixed with Xinji Shui (freshly drawn cold water) at any time.
Another Formula [from *Shenghui Fang*]
Ingredients: Qinjiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix, seedlings removed, 5 qian), Daqing (Isatidis Folium, 5 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried until slightly reddish and chopped, half liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into a powder. Take 2 qian mixed with Shengdihuang Zhi (Rehmanniae Radix Fresh Juice) at any time.
Treats Shi Qi heat excess leading to epilepsy and mania, sometimes with stupor. [from *Shenghui Fang*]
Ingredients: Hanshuishi (Calcitum, half liang), Zhusha (Cinnabaris, 1 fen), Qianshuang (Plumbum Subcarbonas, 1 fen).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into powder. Mix with soft rice to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 10 pills with warm water at any time.
Treats Shi Qi after sweating, causing mental confusion and mania. [from *Shenghui Fang*]
Ingredients: Tiefen (Ferrum Oxydatum Rubrum, half liang), Yezhifen (Excrement of Sus Scrofa Domestica Wild Type, bran-fried, half liang), Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, 2 liang, burned to ash).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into powder. Mix with millet rice to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills with Renshen Tang (Ginseng Decoction) at any time.
Dahuang Wan (Rhubarb Pill) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats epidemic disease where sweat has occurred but heat-toxin remains unresolved, causing heart irritability and oppression, erratic speech, dark and scanty urination, constipation, and manic running.
Ingredients: Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 2 liang, chopped and slightly stir-fried), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 1.5 liang), Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus, 1.5 liang), Daqing (Isatidis Folium, 2 liang), Longdan (Gentianae Radix, 1 liang, radix removed), Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix, 1 liang, chopped), Chuan Puxiao (Natrii Sulfas, 2 liang, finely ground).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into powder, mix evenly with Puxiao. Knead with refined honey for 300-500 strikes to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 30 pills with Maimendong Tang (Ophiopogon Decoction) at any time.
Tiefen Wan (Iron Powder Pill) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats Shi Qi heat-toxin, causing mental restlessness and manic running.
Ingredients: Tiefen (Ferrum Oxydatum Rubrum, 1 liang, ground), Xijiao Xie (Rhinocerotis Cornu, shaved, 1 liang), Zhusha (Cinnabaris, half liang, finely ground), Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix, chopped, 1 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 2 liang, chopped, raw use), Puxiao (Natrii Sulfas, 1 liang, finely ground).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 30 pills with Renshen Tang (Ginseng Decoction) at any time.
Another Formula [from *Shenghui Fang*]
Administration: Take half a large spoon of Lanyi (Indigo Naturalis), mix with one zhan of Xinji Shui (freshly drawn cold water), stir evenly, and take in one dose.
Treats Shi Qi epidemic fever and mania.
Administration: Use Fenqing (Urine Sediment). In the twelfth lunar month, cut Danzhu (Phyllostachys Nigra), remove the green skin, soak to extract juice, and drink.
Zhenxin San (Heart-Calming Powder): Treats Shi Qi mania after sweating.
Administration: Use Jin Baigulonggu (Stable White Dragon Bone), amount unspecified. Grind into fine powder. Take 2 qian mixed with Xinji Shui (freshly drawn cold water). Effective.
Treats Tianxing Bing (Epidemic Disease) on the 6th or 7th day, with heat excess, irritability, and hallucinations of seeing ghosts.
Administration: Extract juice from human feces and drink several he. Another method: For epidemic high fever and manic running, use aged material, grind into powder, pour boiling water over it, extract the juice, and drink.
Treats Wenzheng (Plague Disease) with high fever and delirious speech. [from *Bencao*]
Administration: Take Baijing Qiuyin (Earthworm with white neck), break open, remove soil, mix with salt, sun-dry until it turns into liquid. Drink the juice. All will recover.
Suffering from Tianxing Re Kuang (Epidemic Heat Mania). [from *Bencao*]
Administration: Crush Sugarcane, extract juice, and drink. Very effective.
Treats Tianxing Re Kuang (Epidemic Heat Mania) with irritability and thirst. [from *Bencao*]
Administration: Extract juice from Bajiao Gen (Musa Basjoo Root) and drink.
Relieves irritability, resolves epidemic fever and mania, clears chest and diaphragm heat, and detoxifies alcohol. [from *Bencao*]
