[Pathogenesis] Qi Lin (Qi-type strangury) is caused by Kidney deficiency leading to heat and distension in the Bladder. The Bladder and Kidney are exterior-interiorly related. When there is heat in the Bladder, pathogenic heat flows into the Bao (uterus/lower jiao urinary-reproductive area). Heat generates excess conditions, causing qi stagnation and distension within the Bao, resulting in fullness of the lower abdomen. Since Kidney Qi fails to control urination, strangury ensues. Its manifestations include a sensation of fullness in both the Bladder and during urination, dysuria with frequent post-void dribbling.
Qianjin Fang for treating Qi Lin:
Moxibustion on Guanyuan (CV4), 50 moxa cones.
Another prescription:
Moxibustion at a point one-and-a-half cun lateral to Yuquan, 30 moxa cones.
Another prescription:
Take three sheng of water, boil one sheng of Dou Chi (Fermented Soybean), remove dregs after one boiling, add one ge of salt, and take in one dose.
Another prescription:
Powder Dong Kui Zi (Malvae Semen), mix with decoction, and take a volume equivalent to a fangcun bi (a square-inch measure).
Another prescription:
Chew a full mouthful of Shu Kui (Hollyhock herb) on an empty stomach.
[Pathogenesis] Gao Lin (Gao-type strangury) refers to strangury where the discharge resembles paste or fat, hence named Gao Lin, also called Rou Lin (Meat-type strangury). This occurs because Kidney deficiency fails to restrain fatty fluids, allowing them to exit together with urine. (From Volume XIV)
Qianjin Fang for treating Gao Lin:
Take three sheng of Ge Gen juice (Kudzu Root juice), mix with three ge of vinegar, and take on an empty stomach in one dose. After taking this, one should pass something resembling soybean juice; Ge Gen is also known as Ge .
Furthermore, regarding the disease of Gao Lin, where urine exits like paste, the treatment is the same as that for Qi Lin. (All from Volume XXI)
Xu Renze's prescription for treating dysuria and strangury: This disease has several types, including Shi Lin (Stone-type strangury), Re Lin (Heat-type strangury), and Qi Lin. Qi Lin arises from qi obstruction and blockage of urination. This condition must be treated according to the previous methods for treating water-qig edema. Shi Lin arises from prior ingestion of mineral drugs; the qi of these minerals does not dissipate, causing obstruction and generating heat, thus forming Shi Lin.
Qu Mai Sui (Herba Diantherae Spike, 3 liang), Dong Kui Zi (Malvae Semen, 1 sheng), Yu Bai Pi (Cortex Ulci, sliced, 1 sheng), Sang Gen Pi (Cortex Mori Radicis, 6 liang), Bai Mao Gen (Rhizoma Imperatae, sliced, 1 sheng), Shi Wei (Folium Pyrrosiae, 4 liang, de-haired).
Cut the above herbs, add ten dou of water, decoct until three sheng remain, filter out the dregs, and divide into three warm doses. Take each dose at intervals corresponding to walking ten li. After taking three to five doses, it is advisable to combine with Da Chong Po Wu Wei San (Five-Ingredient Powder of Large Insect Soul).
Another prescription:
Da Chong Po (Large Insect Soul, 6 liang), Shi Wei (Folium Pyrrosiae, 3 liang, de-haired), Qu Mai Sui (Herba Diantherae Spike, 4 liang), Dong Kui Zi (Malvae Semen, 1 sheng), Fu Ling (Poria, 6 liang).
Pulverize and sieve the above herbs into powder. Decoct Sang Bai Pi (Cortex Mori Radicis) to make a drink. Initially take one fangcun bi, twice daily, gradually increasing to three fangcun bi. Avoid acidic foods. (Wu Sheng, also from the lower volume)
