【附论】
心属火，主司血液。阳气亢盛时，血随气并聚于阳分。热邪侵袭心之络脉，导致心神烦乱躁扰。患者时而吟唱，时而高歌，时而言语，时而嬉笑。精神不能内守，言语失去常态，惊恐心悸，坐卧不安。甚至脱去衣物奔跑。这些都是热毒之气壅滞心胸所致，从而引发发狂病症。
方剂
犀角散（出自《圣惠方》）：治疗热病，伏热蕴结于心，精神恍惚不定，发狂无法安睡躺卧。适宜服用。

大青散（出自《圣惠方》）：治疗热病极盛导致发黄，皮肤呈现如金色般色泽，小便赤涩不通，大便闭塞不通，口干烦渴，烦闷混乱发狂。适宜服用。
药材：大青、黄药子、川朴硝、川大黄（切碎微炒）、羚羊角屑、土瓜根、栀子仁、秦艽（去除苗头）、甘草（炙烤至微红后切碎，各半两）。
制法与服法：将上述药物研为细散剂。不拘时候，用冷蜜水调服二钱，以大便通利为度。
柴胡散（出自《圣惠方》）：治疗热病已得汗出，但热势不解，腹部胀满疼痛，烦躁发狂。适宜服用。
药材：柴胡（去除苗头一两）、川大黄（切碎微炒）、黄芩、赤芍药、半夏（汤浸七次去除滑腻感，各三分）、枳壳（半两，麸炒至微黄后去除瓤）。
制法与服法：将上述药物研为散剂。每次服用五钱，加水一大盏，放入生姜半分，煎煮至剩余五分水量，滤去药渣。不分时候，温服。
朱砂丸（出自《圣惠方》）：治疗热病，毒热蕴结于脏腑，心神狂乱，高热烦躁，无法安睡躺卧。适宜服用。
药材：朱砂（细研）、紫石英（细研，水飞法处理）、白石英（细研，水飞法处理）、不灰木（用牛粪火烧一顿饭的时间，各一两）、太阴玄精石、牛黄、天南星（末状，生用）、麝香（各半两）、金箔（五十片）、龙脑（一分）。
制法与服法：将所有药物研磨至极细，用牛胆汁和匀制成丸药，大小如樱桃。不拘时候，用新汲水送服一丸，嚼碎咽下。
铁粉丸（出自《圣惠方》）：治疗热病，心神恍惚，悲喜无常，发狂欲奔跑。适宜服用。
药材：铁粉（细研）、牛黄（细研）、远志（去除心部）、丹参、茯神、川升麻（各半两）、金箔（三七片，细研）、银箔（三七片，细研）、麝香（细研）、白僵蚕（微炒）、白附子（炮裂，各一分）、马牙硝（三分，细研）。
制法与服法：将上述药物研为散剂，共同研磨均匀，用炼蜜调和并捣击三五百下，制成梧桐子大小的丸药。不拘时候，用薄荷汤送服二十丸。
牛黄丸（出自《圣惠方》）：治疗热病发狂，心神恍惚。适宜服用。
药材：牛黄（半两，细研）、虎睛（一对，酒浸后微炙）、茯神、石膏（细研）、麦门冬（去除心部）、生干地黄、铁粉（细研，各一两）、川升麻、玄参（各三分）。
制法与服法：将上述药物研为末，共同研磨均匀，用炼蜜制成梧桐子大小的丸药。不拘时候，用荆芥汤送服二十丸。
天竺黄丸（出自《圣惠方》）：治疗热病，心气热盛，恍惚不定，发狂妄见幻象。适宜服用。
药材：天竺黄、朱砂（细研，水飞法处理）、龙脑（各三分）、牛黄（细研）、远志（去除心部）、麝香（细研）、甘草（炙烤至微红后切碎）、黄连（去除须根）、铁粉（各一两）、甘菊花、马牙硝（细研）、茯神（各半两）、金银箔（各五十片，细研）。
制法与服法：将上述药物研为末，全部研磨均匀，用炼蜜调和并捣击三二百下，制成梧桐子大小的丸药。不拘时候，用荆芥汤或薄荷汤送服十丸，嚼碎咽下。
治疗热病，毒邪攻冲心胸，燥热烦闷发狂。（出自《肘后方》）
药材：鸡子清（鸡蛋清，两个）、川朴硝（半两）。
制法与服法：将两者混合，用新汲水一小盏，加热调匀后一次性服下。另一说法是用酒送服。
治疗热病及时行疫病，心中躁动狂乱奔走，症状类似癫痫，言语无定，长期不得汗出，以及不知人事。
药材：人中黄（不限用量）。
制法与服法：将人中黄放入大罐中，用泥密封固济，用大火煅烧半天，取出放凉。在地上用盆覆盖，再放置约半天时间，细研如面粉状。用新汲水调服三钱。若病未退，间隔一段时间再次服用。人中黄即硬粪也。
治疗狂病经久不愈，或歌或笑，行走不停，发作没有固定时间。（出自《本草》）
药材：猪肉一斤。
制法与服法：煮熟，细细切碎作脍，拌酱醋食用。或做成羹粥炒食，随意服用。
解热疾，不知人事濒临死亡者。
药材：蚯蚓（不限用量）。
制法与服法：先捣烂，用水浸泡过滤，灌服半碗，立即见效。
[Supplementary Discussion]
The Heart belongs to Fire and governs Blood. When Yang Qi is excessive, Blood merges with Yang. Pathogenic Heat attacks the collaterals of the Heart, causing mental restlessness and confusion. The patient may chant or sing, speak or laugh. Spirit fails to remain within, speech becomes abnormal, accompanied by fright, palpitations, and unease. The patient may discard clothing and run about. These are all caused by Heat-Toxin stagnating in the chest and heart, leading to mania.
Formulas
Xijiao San (Rhinoceros Horn Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats febrile diseases where latent heat lingers in the Heart, causing mental trance, mania, and inability to sleep or lie down. Suitable for consumption.
Ingredients: Rhinoceros Horn Shavings, Gardenia Seed Kernel (each 0.5 liang), Artemisia Scoparia Herb, Red Peony Root, Ophiopogon Tuber (decored), Dictamnus Root Bark (each 1 liang), Spirit of Polygala Root, Dried Rehmannia Root (each 2 liang), Ginseng Root (1.5 liang, de-stalked).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into a powder. Take 5 qian per dose, add 1 da zhan of water, insert 37 slices of Bamboo Leaf, decoct until 0.5 zhan remains, filter dregs. Drink warm at any time.
Renshen San (Ginseng Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats febrile diseases where stagnant heat causes mania, with timidity, fright, and palpitations. Suitable for consumption.
Ingredients: Ginseng Root (de-stalked), Rhinoceros Horn Shavings, Licorice Root (roasted until slightly red and chopped), Scutellaria Root, Polygala Tuber, Gentiana Macrophylla Root, Phellodendron Cortex, Adenophora Root (de-stalked, each 0.5 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into a powder. Take 5 qian per dose, add 1 zhong zhan of water, decoct until 0.5 zhan remains, filter dregs, add Bamboo Sap, stir well. Drink warm at any time.
Lingyang San (Antelope Horn Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats febrile diseases after sweating, where Heat-Toxin is not fully resolved, triggered by fright, resulting in fever and mania. Suitable for consumption.
Ingredients: Antelope Horn Shavings, Rhinoceros Horn Shavings, Spirit of Polygala Root, Scutellaria Root, Licorice Root (roasted until slightly red and chopped), Saposhnikovia Root (de-stalked, each 0.5 liang), Dragon Teeth, Ginseng Root (de-stalked), Iron Powder (each 1 liang), Phellodendron Cortex (0.3 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into a coarse powder. Take 5 qian per dose, add 1 da zhan of water, decoct until 0.5 zhan remains, filter dregs. Drink warm at any time.
Fushen San (Spirit of Polygala Root Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats febrile diseases with mania, Heart-Heat with irritability and frequent fright, and inability to sleep or lie down. Suitable for consumption.
Ingredients: Spirit of Polygala Root, Scutellaria Root (each 0.3 liang), Rhinoceros Horn Shavings, Cimicifuga Rhizome, Scrophularia Root (each 0.5 liang), Dragon Teeth, Ophiopogon Tuber (decored), Sweet Bamboo Root (chopped), Coptis Rhizome (de-filamented, each 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into a powder. Take 3 qian per dose, add 1 zhong zhan of water, decoct until 0.5 zhan remains, filter dregs, add Mirabilite 1 qian and Rehmannia Juice 1 he, stir well. Drink warm at any time.
Daqing San (Isatis Root Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats severe febrile diseases causing jaundice, skin turning golden-yellow, dark and scanty urination, constipation, dry mouth with thirst, irritability, confusion, and mania. Suitable for consumption.
Ingredients: Isatis Root, Dioscorea Hypoglauca Rhizome, Mirabilite, Rheum Palmatum Rhizome (chopped and lightly fried), Antelope Horn Shavings, Trichosanthes Root, Gardenia Seed Kernel, Gentiana Macrophylla Root (de-stalked), Licorice Root (roasted until slightly red and chopped, each 0.5 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. At any time, mix with cold honey water and take 2 qian. Stop when bowel movement occurs.
Chaihu San (Bupleurum Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats febrile diseases where sweat has been induced but heat persists, accompanied by abdominal fullness and pain, irritability, and mania. Suitable for consumption.
Ingredients: Bupleurum Root (de-stalked, 1 liang), Rheum Palmatum Rhizome (chopped and lightly fried), Scutellaria Root, Red Peony Root, Pinellia Tuber (soaked in boiling water seven times to remove slipperiness, each 0.3 liang), Aurantium Fruit (0.5 liang, bran-fried until slightly yellow and pith removed).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into a powder. Take 5 qian per dose, add 1 da zhan of water, insert 0.5 fen of Fresh Ginger, decoct until 0.5 zhan remains, filter dregs. Drink warm at any time.
Zhusha Wan (Cinnabar Pill) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats febrile diseases where toxic heat accumulates in the Zang organs, causing mental madness, high fever, irritability, and inability to sleep or lie down. Suitable for consumption.
Ingredients: Cinnabar (finely ground), Purple Quartz Crystal (finely ground, water-floating processed), White Quartz Crystal (finely ground, water-floating processed), Non-ash Wood (burned with cow dung for the duration of one meal, each 1 liang), Taiyin Xuanjing Stone, Calculus Bovis, Arisaema Rhizome (powdered, raw use), Moschus (each 0.5 liang), Gold Foil (50 pieces), Borneol (0.1 fen).

Tianzhuhuang Wan (Indocalamus Grass Tuber Pill) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats febrile diseases where Heart-Qi Heat is excessive, causing mental trance, instability, mania, and hallucinations. Suitable for consumption.
Ingredients: Indocalamus Grass Tuber, Cinnabar (finely ground, water-floating processed), Borneol (each 0.3 fen), Calculus Bovis (finely ground), Polygala Tuber (decored), Moschus (finely ground), Licorice Root (roasted until slightly red and chopped), Coptis Rhizome (de-filamented), Iron Powder (each 1 liang), Chrysanthemum Flower, Natrii Sulfas (finely ground), Spirit of Polygala Root (each 0.5 liang), Gold and Silver Foil (each 50 pieces, finely ground).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into powder, mix thoroughly, combine with refined honey, and pound 200-300 times. Form pills the size of a Chinese quince seed. At any time, take 10 pills with Schizonepeta Decoction or Mint Decoction, chewing before swallowing.
Treating febrile diseases where toxin attacks the chest and heart, causing dryness, irritability, and mania. [from *Zhouhou Fang*]
Ingredients: Egg White (two), Mirabilite (0.5 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Mix together. Add a small zhan of fresh well water, heat, and drink in one go. Another method uses wine for administration.
Treating febrile diseases and epidemic pestilence, with mental agitation, mania, running about, symptoms resembling epilepsy, erratic speech, prolonged absence of sweat, and unconsciousness.
Ingredient: Renzhonghuang (human excrement cake, amount unspecified).
Preparation and Administration: Place Renzhonghuang in a large jar, seal tightly with mud, calcine over strong fire for half a day. Remove and cool. Cover with a basin on the ground for another half day. Grind finely into flour-like powder. Take 3 qian mixed with fresh well water. If symptoms persist, administer intermittently. Renzhonghuang refers to hardened feces.
Treating chronic mania that does not heal, characterized by singing or laughing, ceaseless walking, and unpredictable attacks. [from *Bencao*]
Ingredient: Pork meat (1 jin).
Preparation and Administration: Boil until cooked, mince finely to make kuai (shredded meat), and eat with sauce and vinegar. Or cook as soup/congee. Consume as desired.
Resolving severe heat disease with unconsciousness approaching death.

Preparation and Administration: Pound thoroughly first, soak in water, filter, and instill/administer half a bowl. Immediate effect expected.
