手阳明大肠经的支脉主要主管胡须。足少阳胆经的气血荣润部位在鬓角。足少阴肾经的光华表现在头发。这三条经络虽然所属不同，但骨髓是牙齿的根本，因为牙齿是骨骼的余气，由骨髓滋养。
复老还童丸（出自德生堂），用于补益下元，使胡须变黑。
药材：肉苁蓉（酒浸）、菟丝子（酒浸）、巴戟天（酒浸去心）、牛膝（去芦头，酒浸，各一两）、山药、川楝子（盐炒）、生姜（各适量）。
制法与服法：将上述药材研为细末，用井水煎地黄汁泛丸。先用井华水（清晨第一次汲取的井水）送服四十丸，逐渐加至六十丸。初服时选择吉日并保持身心洁净。服药后一百天内禁止房事，效果显著。忌食葱、萝卜、蒜。热性体质者也可服用。
地黄煎丸（出自《圣济总录》），治疗各种虚损，调和营卫，填补骨髓，接续筋脉，助益真元。
药材：熟地黄（二十斤优质者，洗净阴干至无水分，用木臼捣碎绞取汁液，药渣再次加入法酒五升，重捣后熬煮与前汁混合，置于银器中煎熬成膏）、菟丝子（酒浸）、漆叶（炒）、牡丹皮、黄柏（焙干，木臼内捣碎）、甘草（炙）。
制法与服法：将药材研为细末，炼蜜和丸，如梧桐子大。温酒或淡盐汤送服四十丸，可加至六十丸。初服择日并斋戒洁净。服药后忌房事百日，神效。忌葱、萝卜、蒜。热证者亦适用。
养寿丹（出自《御药院方》），补益五脏，散除麻木疼痛，驻颜，使胡须头发变黑，强壮筋骨，久服不老。
药材：远志（去心）、石菖蒲、巴戟天（去心）、白术、茯苓、地骨皮、续断、枸杞子、菊花、细辛、地黄。
制法与服法：将药材研为细末，炼蜜和丸。
神仙六子丸（出自《御药院方》），治疗男子气血衰败，未满五十岁胡须头发斑白，或年轻人胡须头发苍黄。
药材：菟丝子（酒浸一夜，焙干）、金铃子（即川楝子）、枸杞子、覆盆子、五味子（焙干）、蛇床子（炒）、何首乌（酒浸）、小茴香（盐炒）。
制法与服法：将药材研为细末，炼蜜和丸，如梧桐子大。空腹温酒送服三十丸。若服用此药，胡须头发会变黑。

制法与服法：将药材研为细末，炼蜜和丸。空腹温酒送服。
五精酒，治疗万病，使白发变黑，牙齿脱落再生。
药材：黄精（四两）、天门冬（三斤，去心）、松叶（六斤）、白术（四斤）、枸杞子（五斤，洗净）。
制法与服法：以上皆用生者，浸泡于酒中，密封发酵。
青蛾丸（一名杜仲丸，出自《御药院方》），治疗黑发，祛风延年，以及肝肾虚引起的腰脚腿重痛、香港脚（痛风/下肢肿痛）。常服有益发令黑。（出自《本草》记载：以椰子浆涂头。）
南烛煎（出自《本草》），益发髭及容颜，兼补暖。
制法：三月三日，采集南烛叶及蕊子，放入大净瓶中干燥盛装，用童子小便浸满瓶，密封瓶口，置于阴凉处经过一段时间。
灵芝丸（出自《圣济总录》），治疗气血不荣，使白发变黑。
药材：三叶酸（一斤，阴干）、黑桑椹（一斤，曝干）。
制法与服法：将药材研为细末，炼蜜和丸，如弹子大。每服温酒化下一丸。
枸杞酒（出自《圣济总录》），治疗精血虚损，使白发变黑，轻身延年。
药材：枸杞子（三斤）、生地黄（汁三升）。
制法与服法：每年十月壬癸日，面向东方采摘枸杞子，先用好酒二升，置于瓷容器中浸泡。
何首乌丸（一名二多丹），补暖脏腑，祛逐风冷，利腰膝，强筋骨，使鬓发变黑，驻颜。
白术酒，治疗万病，使胡须头发变黑。
制法：以白术二十五斤，洗净，以东流水二石五斗，在不渗水的容器中，浸泡二十日，去滓，纳汁于大盆中造酒。可加入李桃等。
何首乌丸，治疗男子元脏虚损，白发再黑，填精补髓。
药材：何首乌（半斤）、肉苁蓉（六两）、牛膝（四两）。
制法与服法：上将何首乌半斤，用枣拌何首乌，在甑内蒸至枣软，用刀切，研为细末，炼蜜和丸。

制法与服法：将药材处理干净，研为细末，炼蜜和丸。空心温酒送服。

The branch collateral of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian (Hand-Yangming Da Chang Jing, 手阳明大肠经) primarily governs the mustache. The Ying-Spring points of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian (Foot-Shaoyang Dan Jing, 足少阳胆经) nourish the sideburns. The brilliance of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian (Foot-Shaoyin Shen Jing, 足少阴肾经) manifests in the hair. Although these three meridians belong to different systems, marrow is the root of teeth; for teeth are the surplus of bones and are nourished by marrow.
Fulao Huantong Wan (Rejuvenating Pill to Restore Youth, from Desheng Tang): Tonifies the Lower Yuan (Lower Origin, referring to Kidney essence and Qi), darkens the mustache and beard.
Ingredients: Congrong Rong (Cistanche Herba, soaked in wine), Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen, soaked in wine), Bajitian (Morinda Officinalis Radix, soaked in wine, heart removed), Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, rhizome removed, soaked in wine, each 1 liang), Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), Chuanlianzi (Meli Fructus, salt-fried), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, appropriate amount).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into fine powder, use Rehmanniae Radix decoction with well water to make pills. Initially take 40 pills with Jinghua Water (well water drawn at dawn), gradually increasing to 60 pills. Choose an auspicious day for the first dose and maintain purity of body and mind. Abstain from sexual intercourse for 100 days after taking the medicine; it is highly effective. Avoid scallions, radishes, and garlic. Suitable for those with heat constitutions.
Dihuang Jian Wan (Rehmannia Decoction Pill, from *Shengji Zonglu*): Treats various deficiencies, harmonizes Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi), fills marrow, reconnects sinews and vessels, and assists True Yuan (True Origin).
Ingredients: Shudihuang (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix, 20 jin of high quality, washed clean, dried in shade until moisture is gone, pounded in a wooden mortar, juice squeezed out; residue added to 5 sheng of medicinal wine, pounded again and boiled, mixed with previous juice, boiled in a silver vessel into paste), Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen, soaked in wine), Qiyè (Toxicodendron Vernicifluum Leaf, fried), Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex), Huangbo (Phellodendri Cortex, baked, pounded in wooden mortar), Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder, mix with refined honey to make pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 40 pills with warm wine or light salt water, increasing to 60 pills. Preparation and Administration: Use fresh materials, soak in wine, seal and ferment.
Qing'e Wan (Green Moth Pill, also known as Duzhong Pill, from *Yuyao Yuanfang*): Blackens hair, dispels Wind, prolongs life; treats Liver and Kidney deficiency causing heaviness and pain in waist, legs, and feet, and Hongjiao (gout/lower limb swelling). Nanzhu Jian (Southern Candle Decoction, from *Bencao*): Benefits mustache, hair, and facial appearance; additionally warms and tonifies.
Preparation: On the third day of the third lunar month, harvest Nanzhu leaves and flower buds, place in a large clean bottle, dry them, fill the bottle with urine from a healthy boy, seal tightly, and store in a cool place for a period of time.

Preparation: Use 25 jin of Baizhu, washed clean. Soak in 250 dou of flowing eastern water in a non-leaking vessel for 20 days. Remove dregs, pour juice into a large basin, and brew wine. Can add plums and peaches.
Heshouwuwu Wan (Polygonum Multiflorum Pill): Treats deficiency damage of the Original Zang in men, reverses white hair to black, fills Essence and tonifies Marrow.
Ingredients: Shouwuwu (Polygoni Multiflori Radix, half jin), Congrong Rong (Cistanche Herba, 6 liang), Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, 4 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Take half jin of Shouwuwu, mix with dates, steam in a steamer until dates are soft, slice with a knife, grind into powder, mix with refined honey to make pills.
Shenxian Yi Jing Jin Dan (Immortal One Well Golden Elixir): Tonifies deficiency of True Yuan, greatly strengthens waist and legs, prevents whitening of mustache and hair with long-term use, stabilizes teeth, improves appetite, brightens eyes, sharpens hearing, and enhances walking strength.
Ingredients: Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, 3 liang, soaked in wine for 3 days), Wuyao (Linderae Radix, 2 liang), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, 1 liang, fried), Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper, 3 liang, seeds removed, fried and weighed), Jinmao Gouji (Cibotii Rhizoma, 1 liang, fried with beans and boiled), Heidou (Black Soybean, half bowl water boiled), Huangbo (Phellodendri Cortex, 1 liang, processed to remove fire toxicity), Congrong Rong (Cistanche Herba, 3 liang).

While I was in Chun'an, Li Yuan, the Chief Clerk, said his grandfather, Vice Prefect, took Yi Jing Jin Dan when young and kept black hair until old age. Later in the capital, I visited Yang Wu and asked what medicine the late Prince Wang took to keep his hair black. Yang Wu replied, "I did not know." I then asked an old herbalist, who said, "The late Prince Wang regularly took Yi Jing Jin Dan." The person said, "Naturally so." Later passing through Yuzhang, where he worked as a wine official, I asked Qiu Shuxian to inquire. He said, "My lord only took Yi Jing Jin Dan in his life." Only then did I learn the efficacy of this medicine and obtained the formulas, though they vary slightly. I record them all here. One formula reduces Chuanjiao by 1 liang, adds Baifuzi 1 liang, Mobiezi, Heifuzi, and Heshouwuwu combined to 1 liang; take 20 pills per dose, swallow with Wuweizi decoction. Other formulas swallow with Wuweizi wine decoction. One formula uses half a bowl of Heidou, 2 bowls of water, cooked together with Qianghuo, Bibi, and Heshouwuwu until beans are cooked; discard beans, use only the three herbs. Another formula cooks Bibi, Heidou, and Heshouwuwu together.
