夫诸疮及痈疽。皆是风湿搏于血气。血气蕴结生热。发肌肉内成疮。久不瘥者。多生恶
肉。四边皮起。而好肉不生。此由毒热未尽。经络尚壅。血气不到故也。
痈疽已溃。久而良肉不生者。由气血未平。恶肉有以害之也。恶肉虽得于风气外搏。亦
以余毒未尽。故死肌败坏。侵蚀良肉。治宜以药蚀去之。
痈坏后有恶肉者。以猪蹄汤洗去秽。次敷食肉膏散。恶肉尽。敷生肉膏散。及摩四边令
善肉速生。当断绝房室。慎风冷劳烦。待筋脉平复。乃可任意耳。不尔、新肉易伤。伤则重
溃发。发则祸至。慎之慎之。

（附论）
各种疮疡及痈疽，都是风湿之邪与血气相互搏结所致。血气郁结而生热，在肌肉内部形成疮疡。如果久治不愈，大多会长出恶肉。疮口四周皮肤隆起，而好肉无法生长。这是因为毒热尚未清除，经络仍然壅塞，血气不能到达的缘故。
痈疽已经溃破，但长时间良肉不生，是因为气血尚未平复，恶肉阻碍了它的生长。恶肉虽然是由于风气外袭搏结而成，但也因为余毒未尽，导致死肌败坏，侵蚀良肉。治疗适宜用药腐蚀去除它。
痈疽溃烂后出现恶肉的，先用猪蹄汤清洗去除污秽，然后敷上食肉膏散。待恶肉完全脱落后，再敷生肉膏散，并按摩疮口四周，促使好肉快速生长。此时应当断绝房事，小心避免风寒寒冷和劳累烦扰，等待筋脉平复之后，才可以恢复正常生活。如果不这样做，新肉容易受伤，一旦受伤就会再次严重溃烂发作，发作则灾祸降临，务必谨慎谨慎。
方剂
蛇含生肉膏：治疗痈疽、金疮导致的组织败坏。
药材：蛇含、当归（各六分）、干地黄（三两）、黄连、黄芩、黄柏、大黄、续断、蜀椒、芍药、白芨、川芎、白芷、甘草。
制法：腊月猪脂七斤，煎煮三次（三上三下），醋尽后加入药末。去渣取汁敷用，每日两次，夜间一次。崔氏版本有大戟、独活各一两；无地黄、黄连、黄柏、续断、白芨、川芎、白芷、甘草。
生地黄膏：治疗痈疽败坏后生肉，也治疗发背疮。
药材：生地黄（四两）、辛夷、独活（去芦头）、当归（切焙）、大黄、川芎、黄柏、白芷、芍药、黄芩（去黑心，各半两）、续断（一两）、猪脂（二斤）、薤白（十四茎）。
制法：除猪脂外，将其他药材锉碎。先熬猪脂至沸腾，放入诸药，煎至白芷呈赤黑色，用绵布绞去药渣，装入瓷盒。涂于疮口，每日两到三次。
黄柏膏：治疗痈疽溃烂出血，促进生肉。
药材：黄柏、芍药、当归、大黄、川芎、独活、白芷、薤白、生地黄（各一两）。
制法：切碎猪膏二升半，煎煮三次（三上三下）。膏成后，绞去药渣。敷于锐利疮口中，向左右按摩，每日三次。
莽草膏：治疗痈疽败坏后生肉。
药材：莽草、当归、薤白、黄芩（去黑心）、甘草、白芷、大黄、续断（各一两）、猪脂（二斤）。
制法：除猪脂外，将其他药材锉碎。先熬猪脂至沸腾，放入诸药，煎至白芷呈赤黑色，用绵布绞去药渣，装入瓷盒。涂于疮口，每日三次。
芍药膏：治疗痈疽恶肉，疮蚀尽后生肌。
药材：芍药、大黄、黄柏、独活（去芦头）、白芷、当归（各一两）、薤白（三两）、生地黄（一两半，捣碎）、猪脂（一两半）。
制法：将八味药材锉碎，先熬猪脂至沸腾，放入诸药，煎至白芷呈赤黑色，用绵布过滤去渣。每次取少许涂敷疮口，每日三到五次。
硫黄散：治疗痈疽疮，腐蚀恶肉。
药材：硫黄（研）、马齿苋（研）、藜芦末、丹砂（研，各半两）、麝香（研一钱）、雄黄（研）、雌黄（研）、白矾（研，各半两）。
制法：混合研匀。每次取少许敷于疮口，每日两到三次，以恶肉脱落为度。《千金翼方》无白矾、雌黄，有藜芦膏配合敷用。又治疗痈疽，无丹砂。《广济方》治疗痈肿脓溃，疮中有紫肉不破消，以此散兑入或内服腐蚀之。
藜芦散：治疗痈疽，腐蚀恶肉。
药材：藜芦、真珠末（各半两）、硫黄（细研）、马齿苋（烧至汁尽，各三分）、雄黄（三分，细研）、麝香（一分，细研）、藜芦（一两）。
制法：制成细散。每日敷用两到三次，取少许敷于疮口。另一种方法无真珠。
刘涓子治疗痈疽，先宜敷大黄食肉膏，《千金方》先用食恶肉散，后用大黄、附子等十味药的，乃是次等的兑膏方。
药材：当归、川芎、白芷（各二两）、乌头（一两）、松脂（二两）、巴豆（二十枚，去皮）、猪脂（二升）。
制法：切碎，放入膏中，微火合煎三沸。加入松脂，使其融化相合。用绵布绞去药渣。将膏涂在棉絮上，插入疮头。大疮即使很深，插入后脓液自出。插尽后，即生好肉。疮浅者不足以插入，直接敷于疮中，每日三次。恶肉尽即止。
柳膏方：治疗各种疮疡愈合后，疮瘢息肉未消，瘰疬风结等疾病适宜贴敷。
药材：柳白皮（五斤）、楸皮（五斤）、木通（一斤）、枳壳（半斤）、皂荚（一斤）、木香末（三两）。
制法：药材细锉，用水八斗，煮取汁一斗。去渣，移入小锅中，下木香煎至七升。去渣，又移入小锅中，用慢火煎，不停搅拌。炼至如饴糖状，能捻成圆即可停止。用油帛包裹收存。每日涂于帛上贴敷。以平复为度。
消蚀散：消除腐蚀恶肉、淫虫、朽骨。先用洗疮方，然后敷此药。
药材：明矾（入银锅内瓦盖煅烧至性尽，一两）、枯矾（煅熟）、雄黄、乳香、好胭脂、远志（水浸取肉焙干，各二钱）。

桑皮散：治疗疮口有热，攻冲作痛，赤烂流淫汁。
药材：桑白皮（新的，一两）、苦参、槐花、天花粉（晒，各半两）。
制法：制成细末干掺。仍煎苦参、桑白皮汤荡洗。痒者加槟榔、轻粉。
麝香膏：治疗发背痈疽，及诸恶疮生恶肉。
药材：麝香（研）、雄黄（研）、真珠（研，各一两）、猪脂（适量）。
制法：研匀，熔化猪脂调如糊状。涂敷于恶肉上，每日两次。
藜茹散：治疗痈疽败坏。
药材：藜芦（漆头者）、矾石（各二分，熬）、雄黄（研）、硫黄（各二分）。
制法：制成散剂，纳入疮口中。恶肉尽即止。勿使药物过伤好肉。
消蚀方
药材：猪粪（腊月收集烧存性，一两）、雄黄（研）、鸡心槟榔（各二钱）。
制法：制成细末。湿者直接掺，干者用麻油、轻粉调抹。腐蚀恶肉加藜芦效果好。

治痈疽腐蚀恶肉。
药材：雄黄、矾石（烧令汁尽）、藜芦（各一两）。
制法：制成细散。每日敷用两到三次，可敷于疮口。
又痈疽方
药材：白芷、桑白皮。
制法：煎汤洗。以桑白皮末掺入有效。
治痈肿恶肉不尽者方。
药材：蒴藋（一作灰）、锻石（肘后方作白炭灰）。
制法：各淋取汁，合煎如膏成敷之。食恶肉，亦去黑子。
溃死肉药
药材：炊饭尖（三等，各半两）。一等半两，入巴豆二个；一等半两，入巴豆三个；一等半两，入巴豆五个。
制法：各捻作白锭子。上先用二巴豆内疮，如不溃，再用内三巴豆，又不溃用五巴豆者。更用丹砂炒红色，掺疮口，追出清水。其恶肉未尽，至追出赤水是恶肉尽。更用三圣散粘贴，用膏药敷之。
药蛆方
以皂矾飞过干贴，其虫即死。

制法：上用蜜一斤，旋入铛内，炒至紫色，见风吹脆为末。有滓再炒为末。酒调下二钱。

Various sores and carbuncles are caused by the struggle between wind-dampness and blood-qì. The stagnation of blood-qì generates heat, forming sores within the muscles. If not healed for a long time, "evil flesh" (necrotic tissue) often grows. The skin around the sore rises, while healthy flesh fails to regenerate. This is due to the incomplete clearance of toxic heat, the blockage of meridians, and the failure of blood-qì to reach the area.
After a carbuncle or ulcer has ruptured, if healthy flesh does not grow for a long time, it is because the blood-qì has not yet stabilized, and the evil flesh hinders its growth. Although evil flesh arises from external wind-pathogens struggling with the body, it is also due to residual toxins remaining, causing necrosis and corruption that erode healthy flesh. Treatment should involve using medication to cauterize and remove it.
For evil flesh appearing after the rupture of a carbuncle, first wash away impurities with Pig Trotter Decoction, then apply Flesh-Eating Ointment Powder. Once the evil flesh is completely removed, apply Flesh-Regenerating Ointment Powder, and massage the surrounding areas to promote rapid regeneration of healthy flesh. At this time, sexual intercourse must be strictly avoided, and one must guard against wind-cold and physical/mental fatigue. Only after the tendons and vessels have recovered can normal activities resume. Otherwise, new flesh is easily injured; once injured, severe ulceration recurs, leading to disaster. Be extremely cautious.

Snake-Containing Flesh-Regenerating Ointment: Treats carbuncles, ulcers, and traumatic wounds with tissue corruption.
Ingredients: *Ophiopogonis Radix* (Shetian), *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* (Danggui) (each 6 fen), *Rehmanniae Radix Preparata* (Gan Dihuang) (3 liang), *Coptidis Rhizoma* (Huanglian), *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin), *Phellodendri Cortex* (Huangbai), *Rhei Radix et Rhizoma* (Dahuang), *Dipsaci Radix* (Xuduan), *Zanthoxyli Pericarpium* (Shujiao), *Paeoniae Radix Alba* (Shaoyao), *Bletillae Rhizoma* (Baiji), *Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma* (Chuanxiong), *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix* (Baizhi), *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* (Gancao).
Preparation: Use 7 jin of lard collected in the twelfth lunar month. Boil three times ("three up, three down"), add vinegar until exhausted, then add the herbal powder. Strain and apply. Apply twice daily and once at night. Cui Shi's version includes *Euphorbiae Pekinensis Radix* (Daji) and *Angelicae Pubescentis Radix* (Duhuo) (each 1 liang); it lacks *Rehmanniae Radix*, *Coptidis Rhizoma*, *Phellodendri Cortex*, *Dipsaci Radix*, *Bletillae Rhizoma*, *Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma*, *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix*, and *Glycyrrhizae Radix*.
Fresh Rehmannia Flesh-Regenerating Ointment: Treats carbuncles and ulcers with tissue corruption to promote flesh regeneration; also treats back carbuncles.
Ingredients: *Rehmanniae Radix Recens* (Sheng Dihuang) (4 liang), *Magnoliae Flos* (Xinyi), *Angelicae Pubescentis Radix* (Duhuo) (deprived of rhizome head), *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* (Danggui) (cut and roasted), *Rhei Radix et Rhizoma* (Dahuang), *Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma* (Chuanxiong), *Phellodendri Cortex* (Huangbai), *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix* (Baizhi), *Paeoniae Radix Alba* (Shaoyao), *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin) (deprived of black heart, each half liang), *Dipsaci Radix* (Xuduan) (1 liang), Lard (2 jin), *Allii Macrostemonis Bulbus* (Xiebai) (14 stems).
Preparation: Except for lard, chop the other herbs finely. First boil the lard until bubbling, then add the herbs. Simmer until *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix* turns dark red/black. Strain through cotton cloth, store in a porcelain box. Apply to the sore two to three times daily.
Phellodendron Ointment: Treats carbuncles and ulcers with rupture and bleeding, promoting flesh regeneration.
Ingredients: *Phellodendri Cortex* (Huangbai), *Paeoniae Radix Alba* (Shaoyao), *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* (Danggui), *Rhei Radix et Rhizoma* (Dahuang), *Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma* (Chuanxiong), *Angelicae Pubescentis Radix* (Duhuo), *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix* (Baizhi), *Allii Macrostemonis Bulbus* (Xiebai), *Rehmanniae Radix Recens* (Sheng Dihuang) (each 1 liang).
Preparation: Chop 2.5 sheng of pork fat. Boil three times ("three up, three down"). When the ointment is ready, strain off dregs. Apply into sharp wounds, massaging left and right, three times daily.
Marsdenia Ointment: Treats carbuncles and ulcers with tissue corruption to promote flesh regeneration.
Ingredients: *Radix Marsdeniae Officinalis* (Mangcao), *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* (Danggui), *Allii Macrostemonis Bulbus* (Xiebai), *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin) (deprived of black heart), *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* (Gancao), *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix* (Baizhi), *Rhei Radix et Rhizoma* (Dahuang), *Dipsaci Radix* (Xuduan) (each 1 liang), Lard (2 jin).
Preparation: Except for lard, chop the other herbs finely. First boil the lard until bubbling, then add the herbs. Simmer until *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix* turns dark red/black. Strain through cotton cloth, store in a porcelain box. Apply to the sore three times daily.
Paeonia Ointment: Treats carbuncle evil flesh; promotes muscle regeneration after ulcer erosion is complete.
Ingredients: *Paeoniae Radix Alba* (Shaoyao), *Rhei Radix et Rhizoma* (Dahuang), *Phellodendri Cortex* (Huangbai), *Angelicae Pubescentis Radix* (Duhuo) (deprived of rhizome head), *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix* (Baizhi), *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* (Danggui) (each 1 liang), *Allii Macrostemonis Bulbus* (Xiebai) (3 liang), *Rehmanniae Radix Recens* (Sheng Dihuang) (1.5 liang, crushed), Lard (1.5 liang).
Preparation: Chop the eight ingredients finely. First boil the lard until bubbling, then add the herbs. Simmer until *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix* turns dark red/black. Filter through cotton cloth. Take a small amount and apply to the sore three to five times daily.
Sulfur Powder: Treats carbuncle sores, cauterizing evil flesh.
Ingredients: *Sulfur* (Liuhuang) (ground), *Portulacae Herba* (Machixian) (ground), *Veratri Radix* (Lulu) (powdered), *Cinnabaris* (Dansha) (ground, each half liang), *Moschus* (Shexiang) (ground, 1 qian), *Realgar* (Xionghuang) (ground), *Orpiment* (Ci Huang) (ground), *Alumen* (Baifan) (ground, each half liang).
Preparation: Mix and grind evenly. Apply a small amount to the sore two to three times daily, until the evil flesh is gone. *Qianjin Yifang* lacks Alumen and Orpiment but includes Veratri Ointment for combined application. It also treats carbuncles without Cinnabar. *Guangji Fang* treats carbuncle swelling with pus rupture where purple flesh remains unabsorbed; use this powder mixed internally or applied to cauterize it.
Veratri Powder: Treats carbuncles, cauterizing evil flesh.
Ingredients: *Veratri Radix* (Lulu), *Margarita* (Zhenzhu Mo) (each half liang), *Sulfur* (Liuhuang) (finely ground), *Portulacae Herba* (Machixian) (burned until juice is gone, each 3 fen), *Realgar* (Xionghuang) (3 fen, finely ground), *Moschus* (Shexiang) (1 fen, finely ground), *Veratri Radix* (Lulu) (1 liang).
Preparation: Make into a fine powder. Apply two to three times daily, taking a small amount to apply to the sore. Another method excludes Pearl.
Liu Juanzi treats carbuncles and ulcers by first applying Rhubarb Flesh-Eating Ointment. *Qianjin Fang* first uses Evil-Flesh-Eating Powder, then applies a formula with Rhubarb, Aconite, and ten other items; this is a secondary mixing ointment formula.
Ingredients: *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* (Danggui), *Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma* (Chuanxiong), *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix* (Baizhi) (each 2 liang), *Aconiti Radix* (Wutou) (1 liang), *Pini Resina* (Songzhi) (2 liang), *Crotonis Fructus* (Badou) (20 seeds, peeled), Lard (2 sheng).
Preparation: Chop coarsely, place in ointment, and simmer over low fire for three boils. Add Pine Resin until melted and integrated. Strain through cotton cloth. Apply the ointment on cotton wadding to probe the wound head. Even deep large wounds will drain pus upon probing. Once probing is complete, healthy flesh regenerates. For shallow wounds, probing is insufficient; apply directly to the sore three times daily. Stop when evil flesh is gone.
Willow Ointment Formula: Treats post-healing scars and polyps that have not resolved, as well as scrofula and wind-nodules, suitable for patching.
Ingredients: Willow White Bark (Liu Bai Pi) (5 jin), Catalpa Bark (Qiu Pi) (5 jin), *Tetrapanacis Medulla* (Mutong) (1 jin), *Aurantii Fructus Immaturus* (Zhi Ke) (half jin), Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit (Zao Jia) (1 jin), *Costi Rhizoma* (Muxiang) powder (3 liang).
Preparation: Finely chop herbs. Boil in 8 dou of water until reduced to 1 dou of juice. Strain. Transfer to a small pot, add Costi Rhizoma powder, and simmer to 7 sheng. Strain again. Transfer to a small pot and simmer slowly, stirring constantly. Refine until like maltose syrup, able to form a ball when pinched. Store wrapped in oiled silk. Apply daily on silk patches. Continue until healed.
Caustic Powder: Eliminates/cauterizes evil flesh, parasites, and rotten bone. First use a wound-washing formula, then apply this.
Ingredients: Alum (Mingfan) (calcined in silver pot with tile cover until nature is exhausted, 1 liang), Calcined Alum (Jian Fan) (cooked), Realgar (Xionghuang), Frankincense (Ruxiang), Good Red Ochre (Hao Yanzhi), *Polygala Tenuifolia Radix* (Yuanzhi) (soaked in water, meat taken and roasted, each 2 qian).
Preparation: Make into fine powder. Grind with honey-water into a paste. Apply to evil flesh. Mixing with sesame oil is also acceptable.
Alum Powder: Treats back carbuncles and ulcers, and malignant sores failing to generate muscle, with corruption and black color, cauterizing evil flesh.
Ingredients: Alum (Baifan) (ground, half liang), *Veratri Radix* (Lulu) (powder, 1 liang), Calomelas (Nifen) (ground, 1 fen), Realgar (Xionghuang) (ground), *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* powder (Danggui Mo) (each 1 liang).
Preparation: Mix and grind evenly. Take a small amount and apply to the sore three times daily.
Mulberry Bark Powder: Treats sores with heat attacking and causing pain, red rot, and discharging foul fluid.
Ingredients: Mulberry Root Bark (Sangbaipi) (fresh, 1 liang), *Sophorae Flavescentis Radix* (Kushen), Sophora Flower (Huaihua), *Trichosanthis Radix* (Tianhuafen) (sun-dried, each half liang).
Preparation: Make into fine powder and sprinkle dry. Also decoct *Sophorae Flavescentis Radix* and Mulberry Root Bark soup to wash. For itching, add Areca Seed (Binglang) and Calomelas (Qingfen).
Moschus Ointment: Treats back carbuncles and ulcers, and various malignant sores generating evil flesh.
Ingredients: *Moschus* (Shexiang) (ground), Realgar (Xionghuang) (ground), Pearl Zhenzhu (Zhenzhu) (ground, each 1 liang), Lard (appropriate amount).
Preparation: Grind evenly, melt lard and mix into a paste. Apply to evil flesh twice daily.
Veratri Powder: Treats carbuncle and ulcer corruption.
Ingredients: *Veratri Radix* (Lulu) (with lac head), Alum Stone (Fanshi) (each 2 fen, calcined), Realgar (Xionghuang) (ground), Sulfur (Liuhuang) (each 2 fen).
Preparation: Make into powder. Insert into the sore mouth. Stop when evil flesh is gone. Do not let it damage healthy flesh.
Caustic Formula
Pig Manure (collected in 12th month, burned to retain nature, 1 liang), Realgar (Xionghuang) (ground), Chicken-heart Areca Seed (Jixin Binglang) (each 2 qian).
Preparation: Make into fine powder. Sprinkle directly if wet; if dry, mix with sesame oil and Calomelas (Qingfen) to smear. Adding *Veratri Radix* (Lulu) enhances cauterization of evil flesh.
Areca Seed Powder (also known as Costi Powder): Treats carbuncles, ulcers, and boils after pus rupture, exposed to external wind-cold, resulting in hard swelling, thin purulent discharge that persists, empty pores, foul-smelling bad juices, tight dry sore edges, and failure of healthy muscle to grow. Also treats phlegm-fire malignant sores that linger and do not heal, lower genital sores invading and ulcerating without closing. Mix with sesame oil for application. (Also known as Flesh-Generating Powder).
Ingredients: Areca Seed (Binglang), *Coptidis Rhizoma* (Huanglian) (deprived of threads and cut), *Costi Rhizoma* (Muxiang) (equal parts).
Preparation: Make into fine powder. Each time, apply dry to the sore. If the sore is ulcerated, after application, cover with common plaster or Cloud Mother Ointment, allowing pus to drain naturally. If the sore mouth does not close after using this medicine, mix *Bletillae Rhizoma* powder (Baiji) and Calomelas (Qingfen) slightly, blend evenly, and apply for rapid effect. (If the sore mouth does not close for a long time, add 1 qian of *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* and apply).
Treating Carbuncles and Ulcers to Cauterize Evil Flesh.
Ingredients: Realgar (Xionghuang), Alum Stone (Fanshi) (burned until juice is gone), *Veratri Radix* (Lulu) (each 1 liang).
Preparation: Make into fine powder. Apply two to three times daily to the sore.
Another Carbuncle Formula
Ingredients: *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix* (Baizhi), Mulberry Root Bark (Sangbaipi).
Preparation: Decoct soup to wash. Sprinkling Mulberry Root Bark powder is effective.
Formula for Carbuncle Swelling with Incomplete Removal of Evil Flesh.
Ingredients: *Ipomoea Pes-tigris* (Shuobi) (also called ash), Calcined Lime (Duanshi) (*Zhouhou* makes white charcoal ash).
Preparation: Leach juice from each, combine and simmer into an ointment for application. Eats evil flesh, also removes black spots.
Medicine for Sloughing Dead Flesh
Cooked Rice Tip (San Deng, each half liang). One portion of half liang enters 2 Croton Seeds; one portion of half liang enters 3 Croton Seeds; one portion of half liang enters 5 Croton Seeds. Roll each into white pellets. First insert the pellet with 2 Croton Seeds into the sore; if not draining, insert the one with 3; if still not draining, insert the one with 5. Then use Cinnabar (Dansha) fried red, sprinkle into the sore mouth to draw out clear water. If evil flesh is not gone, continue until red water appears, indicating evil flesh is gone. Then apply Three-Saints Powder paste and cover with ointment.
Medicine for Killing Maggots
Apply sublimated Alum (Zaofan) flown through dry powder; the worms die immediately.
Realgar Powder: Treats sores with evil flesh that cannot be removed.
Ingredients: Realgar (Xionghuang) (1 qian, ground), Croton Seed (Badou) (1 seed not peeled ground, half seed peeled ground = 0.5 qian).
Preparation: Grind together again into mud. Add small amounts of Frankincense (Ruxiang) and Myrrh (Moyao), grind evenly and finely. Apply sparingly; evil flesh will fall off naturally.
Treating Carbuncle Swelling with Incomplete Removal of Evil Flesh.
Ingredients: Fresh Rehmannia Juice (Sheng Dihuang Zhi).
Preparation: Simmer into glue, make into cakes, and apply four to five times daily.
Carbuncles and Ulcers Generating Smelly Evil Flesh.
Apply White Veratri Powder. Stop when flesh is gone. Apply various ointments. If flesh does not grow, apply Phellodendron Powder. Veratri and Phellodendron stop all evil flesh. If still not gone, use seven-head red-bark Veratri as powder, take half qian bi, mix with 3 qian bi of White Veratri Powder, and apply.
If evil flesh is not gone, eat it with flesh-eating medicine, then apply ointment to heal. Flesh-Eating Formula
Take equal parts white charcoal ash and reed ash. Simmer into an ointment. This should not be prepared in advance; it spoils in ten days. It can also remove black spots.
Flesh-Eating Ointment: Treats carbuncles, back carbuncles, and various malignant sores; removes evil flesh.
Ingredients: *Rhei Radix et Rhizoma* (Dahuang), *Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma* (Chuanxiong), *Radix Marsdeniae Officinalis* (Mangcao), Pearl (Zhenzhu), Orpiment (Ci Huang), *Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata* (Fuzi) (raw, each 1 liang), *Ampelopsis Radix* (Bailian), Alum Stone (Fanshi), *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin), *Veratri Radix* (Lulu) (each 2 liang), Realgar (Xionghuang) (half liang).
Preparation: Chop coarsely. With 1 sheng of lard, boil 5-6 times. Strain. Add *Veratri Radix* and Alum Stone powder, stir and apply. Stop when evil flesh in the sore is gone.
Treating Sores with Polyps Like Snakes Extending Several Inches.
Use 1 liang of Sulfur (Liuhuang), finely ground. Thinly smear on the flesh; it will immediately retract.
Trichosanthes Powder
*Astragali Membranacei Radix* (Huangqi) (4 liang), Gleditsia Sinensis Thorn (Zaojiaoci) (8 liang, red ones smashed), *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* (Gancao) (6 liang), *Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix* (Niuxi) (2 liang), *Trichosanthis Fructus* (Gualou) (10 fruits).
Preparation: Use 1 jin of honey, add gradually to the pan, fry until purple, brittle when blown by wind, then make into powder. Fry residues again into powder. Take 2 qian with wine.
