Zijin Dan (Purple Gold Pill), also known as Dan Fan Wan (Chalcanthum Pill), from *Jisheng Bacuifang*. It treats food labor and qi labor in men and women. Symptoms include generalized yellow swelling, impending transformation into ascites (water accumulation), and chronic jaundice.
Dan Fan (Chalcanthum) [three liang] Huang La (Beeswax) [one liang] Qingzhou Zao (Chinese Jujube from Qingzhou) [fifty fruits]. Place the above ingredients in a porcelain box. Add five sheng of first-press vinegar. First add the chalcanthum and jujubes. Simmer slowly over low heat. When the decoction is reduced to pills the size of paulownia seeds, add the beeswax.
One prescription for treating yellow swelling: Use Zao Fan (Ferric Ammonium Sulfate) mixed with jujube pulp, pounded into a paste. Soak in broth, mix with steamed leavened dough as a binder to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take forty to fifty pills per dose, swallowed with tea or plain water.
