【附论】
手阳明大肠经的支脉，进入牙齿。足太阳膀胱经，有分支进入面颊，遍布于牙齿部位。如果这些经络虚弱，风气侵袭其中，络脉拘急束缚在齿间。
方剂
细辛汤（出自《十便良方》）
治疗牙齿龋坏，肿痛，脓汁不止。
细辛（去除苗叶）半两，附子（去皮脐，生用）半两，川芎一两。将上述药材锉碎如麻豆大小。每次服用五钱，加水二盏煎煮。
虾蟆散（出自《圣惠方》）
治疗牙齿龋坏疼痛。
干蟾蜍一枚（五月五日采集者，烧成焦灰），麝香（研末）半钱，柑皮、细辛（去苗叶）各半两，白鸡屎（适量）。将药粉纳入虫孔中。
治疗牙齿风龋。（出自《圣惠方》）
郁李根白皮切四两，细辛一两，盐一合。将药材切碎，加水四升，煮取二升半。去渣，加入盐。
柳枝汤（出自《圣惠方》）
治疗牙齿风龋，隐痛动摇，牙龈宣露（牙龈萎缩暴露牙根）。
柳枝一握（锉碎），地骨皮、细辛、防风（去芦头）、生地黄（锉碎）、蔓荆子、杏仁（各一两，汤浸去皮尖及双仁）。上药用水煎煮，去渣，热含漱。
蜀椒汤
治疗牙齿风龋疼痛。
蜀椒（去目及闭口者，炒出汗），川芎、细辛（去苗叶）、升麻、莽草、防风（去叉）、黄芩（去黑心）。
白矾散（出自《圣惠方》）
治疗龋齿肿胀，出脓汁。
白矾（枯矾）一分，蟾酥半分，麝香、雄黄、熊胆（各半分），干蟾蜍一枚（烧灰）。以上药物研匀。
藜芦散（出自《肘后方》）
治疗牙齿牙龈宣露，疼痛疳蚀。
藜芦（去芦头）、莽草（各半两），细辛（去苗叶），垣衣（取自东墙），盐（各一两），棘刺四十枚。醋浸，用炭灰火煨，蘸药醋中含漱。
麝香散
治疗牙齿风龋疼痛。
麝香（研），砂（研，各半分），细辛（去苗叶），青黛（研），升麻（各一分）。以上为散剂。先用针拨动患处。
白附子散（出自《千金方》）
治疗牙齿龋坏疼痛。也治疗口臭。
白附子（一分，生用），甘草、细辛、川芎、高良姜（各一分，锉碎）。以上为散剂。用棉裹少许药粉置于龋齿上。
雄黄煎
治疗牙齿风龋疼痛，发臭出脓。
雄黄研，葶苈（纸上炒为末，各一两），麝香（研半钱），芦荟（研半分）。先用腊月猪脂三两，煎净。用针刺入。
川芎、升麻、藁本（去苗土各半两），独活（去芦），细辛（去苗叶各一分）。以上捣罗为末。根据患者情况用量。
松脂汤（出自《圣惠方》）
治疗牙齿风龋疼痛。
松脂二两（一作松节），皂荚（炙去皮子一梃），盐一分。以上锉碎。每次服用五钱，加水二盏，煎煮五七沸。
乌头汤（出自《圣惠方》）
治疗牙齿风龋疼痛。
乌头（干裂去皮脐），独活（去芦），郁李仁（汤去皮，各半两；一方用根）。以上锉如麻豆。每次用五钱。
治疗牙齿风龋。（出自《圣惠方》）

用松枝削得锐利如锥。任其插入龋齿孔内。片刻后龋虫会沿着松枝爬出。另一方取少许松枝漱口，虫自死。

乌头（炮裂去皮脐半两），五灵脂一两。以上为末。用醋一升，煮大枣二十枚，至醋尽为止。取枣肉和药末制丸。
茱萸丸
治疗牙齿风龋。
吴茱萸（汤洗焙干炒），夜明沙（炒，各一分）。以上为末。用蟾酥丸如麻子大。用棉裹一丸，咬在痛处。
治疗齿有孔。

用切碎的白马悬蹄，如米粒许。用棉裹，放在痛处孔中。不超过三次。

用郁李根白皮，以水煮浓汁含漱。冷即吐出。可出虫。一方用李根白皮。

The branch of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian (Shou Yang Ming Da Chang Jing) enters the teeth. The Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian (Zu Tai Yang Pang Guang Jing) has a branch entering the cheek, spreading over the teeth. If these meridians are deficient and wind pathogen invades, the collaterals become bound and constricted between the teeth.
Formulas
Xixin Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction - *Note: Text says Xixin Tang but ingredients are Xin Xin, Fu Zi, Chuan Xiong; likely a typo in original or specific local name, translating as Xixin Tang*) (from "Shi Bian Liang Fang")
Treats dental caries with swelling, pain, and unceasing pus discharge.
Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, remove seedlings and leaves) 0.5 liang, Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata, remove skin and umbilicus, use raw) 0.5 liang, Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) 1 liang. Crush the herbs to the size of hemp seeds. Take 5 qian per dose, decoct with 2 zhan of water.
Xima San (Toad Powder) (from "Sheng Hui Fang")
Treats dental caries pain.
Dried Toad (Bufo bufo gargarizans, taken on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, burned to charcoal ash) 1 piece, Shexiang (Moschus) 0.5 qian (ground), Ganpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, remove seedlings and leaves) 0.5 liang each, Baijishi (Galli Stomach Interior Membrana) appropriate amount. Apply the powder into the carious cavity.
Treatment for Wind-Caries of Teeth (from "Sheng Hui Fang")
Yuligen Baipi (Pruni Semen Persicae Cortex / Prunus Root Bark) sliced 4 liang, Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) 1 liang, Yan (Sal) 1 he. Cut the herbs, add 4 sheng of water, boil to obtain 2.5 sheng. Remove dregs, add salt.
Liuzhi Tang (Willow Branch Decoction) (from "Sheng Hui Fang")
Treats wind-caries of teeth, dull pain, mobility of teeth, and gingival recession (gingival exposure).
Liuzhi (Salix Branch) one handful (crushed), Diguxupi (Lycii Cortex), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, remove radicle), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Recens, crushed), Manjingzi (Vitalae Fructus), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, each 1 liang, soaked in hot water, remove skin and bitter kernels). Decoct the above herbs, remove dregs, hold the warm liquid in the mouth.
Shujiao Tang (Sichuan Pepper Decoction)
Treats wind-caries of teeth pain.
Shujiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, remove eyes and closed ones, stir-fry until sweat appears), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, remove seedlings and leaves), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Mangcao (Adenophorae Radix? *Note: Mangcao usually refers to Adenophora or similar, context suggests aromatic herb*), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, remove forks), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, remove black heart).
Bai Fan San (Alum Powder) (from "Sheng Hui Fang")
Treats swollen carious teeth with pus discharge.
Baifan (Alumen, calcined) 1 fen, Chansu (Bufonis Venenum) 0.5 fen, Shexiang (Moschus), Xionghuang (Realgar), Xiongdan (Ursi Fel), Dried Toad (Bufo bufo gargarizans, burned to ash) 1 piece. Grind all ingredients uniformly.
Lilu San (Veratrum Powder) (from "Zhou Hou Fang")
Treats gingival recession with pain and gan erosion.
Lilu (Veratri Radix, remove radicle), Mangcao (Adenophorae Radix?) 0.5 liang each, Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, remove seedlings and leaves), Yuanyi (Wall Moss from East Wall), Yan (Sal) 1 liang each, Jici (Rhamni Spina) 40 pieces. Soak in vinegar, roast over charcoal ash, dip and hold in mouth.
Shexiang San (Moschus Powder)
Treats wind-caries of teeth pain.
Shexiang (Moschus, ground), Sha (Realgar? *Text says Sha, likely Xionghuang or similar mineral*), 0.5 fen each (ground), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, remove seedlings and leaves), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis, ground), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) 1 fen each. Make into powder. First, use a needle to probe the affected area.
Baifuzi San (Typhonii Rhizoma Powder) (from "Qian Jin Fang")
Treats dental caries pain. Also treats halitosis.
Baifuzi (Typhonii Rhizoma) 1 fen (use raw), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Gaoliangjiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma) 1 fen each (crushed). Make into powder. Wrap a small amount in cotton and place on the carious tooth.
Xionghuang Jian (Realgar Fritter)
Treats wind-caries of teeth pain, foul odor, and pus discharge.
Xionghuang (Realgar, ground), Tingli (Descurainiae Semen / Lepidii Semen, fried on paper to powder) 1 liang each, Shexiang (Moschus) 0.5 qian (ground), Lvhua (Aloe) 0.5 fen (ground). First, melt 3 liang of pig lard from the twelfth lunar month. Cleanse, insert with needle.
Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Bencao (Ligustici Wallichii Rhizoma, remove seedlings and soil) 0.5 liang each, Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix, remove radicle), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, remove seedlings and leaves) 1 fen each. Pound and sieve into powder. Measure dosage according to the patient.
Songzhi Tang (Pine Resin Decoction) (from "Sheng Hui Fang")
Treats wind-caries of teeth pain.
Songzhi (Pini Resina) 2 liang (sometimes Songjie/Pine Node), Zaojia (Gleditsiae Fructus, roasted, remove skin and seeds, one stick), Yan (Sal) 1 fen. Crush. Take 5 qian per dose, add 2 zhan of water, decoct for 5-7 boils.
Wutou Tang (Aconite Decoction) (from "Sheng Hui Fang")
Treats wind-caries of teeth pain.
Wutou (Aconiti Radix, dry cracked, remove skin and umbilicus), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix, remove radicle), Yuliren (Pruni Semen Persicae, soaked in water, remove skin) 0.5 liang each (one formula uses root). Crush to hemp seed size. Use 5 qian per dose.
Treatment for Wind-Caries of Teeth (from "Sheng Hui Fang")
Use 4 liang of Niu Bang Zi (Arctii Fructus), boil to obtain 2.5 sheng. Filter out dregs. Hold at a comfortable temperature in the mouth. Spit out when cold, replace with fresh. Cured.
Treatment for Dental Caries (from "Zhou Hou Fang")
Sharpen a pine branch like an awl. Insert it into the carious cavity. After a moment, the caries worm will crawl out along the pine branch. Another method: rinse mouth with a little pine branch; the worm dies naturally.
Wutou Wan (Aconite Pill)
Treats dental caries pain.
Wutou (Aconiti Radix, roasted cracked, remove skin and umbilicus) 0.5 liang, Wulingzhi (Trogopterori Faeces) 1 liang. Make into powder. Boil 20 large dates in 1 sheng of vinegar until vinegar is exhausted. Mix date flesh with powder to make pills.
Zhuyu Wan (Evodia Pill)
Treats wind-caries of teeth.
Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus, washed in water, dried, roasted), Yemingsha (Pharisiotidae Faeces) 1 fen each (roasted). Make into powder. Bind with Chansu (Bufonis Venenum) into pills the size of hemp seeds. Wrap one pill in cotton and bite on the painful spot.
Treatment for Teeth with Cavities.
Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata) 2 fen (roasted cracked, remove skin), Mila (Beeswax) 5 fen. Mix and form into pills. Insert into the tooth cavity to cure. Avoid cold water and greasy food.
Formula for Treating Dental Caries and Worm Pain (from "Qian Jin Fang")
Use chopped white horse hoof suspension, size of a rice grain. Wrap in cotton, place in the painful cavity. Not exceeding three times.
Another Formula (from "Sheng Hui Fang")
Treats dental caries pain.
Use 0.5 sheng of Hu Lu Zi (Benincasae Semen), 5 sheng of water, boil to 3 sheng. Remove dregs. Hold in mouth and spit out. Stems and leaves can also be used. Not exceeding three doses for cure.
Treatment for Wind-Caries.
Use 1 sheng of crushed willow branch and 1 sheng of soybeans. Stir-fry together until beans pop completely. Place in a porcelain vessel, soak in 3 sheng of clear wine. After three days, hold in mouth and frequently spit out.
Treatment for Dental Caries (from "Zhou Hou Fang")
Use Yuli Gen Baipi (Prunus Root Bark), boil in water to make concentrated juice, hold in mouth. Spit out when cold. Can expel worms. Another formula uses Li Gen Baipi (Plum Root Bark).
Treatment for Dental Caries Pain with Worms (from "Sheng Hui Fang")
Use Xiong Que Fen (Male Sparrow Droppings), wrap in cotton, insert into cavity. Change once or twice daily.
Treatment for Dental Caries (from "Shi Bian Liang Fang")
Use Ji She Xiang (Caryophylli Flos), boil juice, hold in mouth to cure.
Treatment for Wind-Caries of Teeth.
Use 4 Yi Yi Gen (Coicis Radix?), 4 sheng of water, boil to obtain 2 sheng. Hold in mouth, change when cold.
Kou Chi Method (Teeth Clicking).
Yang Sheng Fang (Health Preservation Formula) states: Click teeth morning and evening to prevent caries. It also states: Rinse mouth several times after meals; otherwise, it causes dental caries.
Treatment for Dental Caries (from "Ben Cao")
Make a decoction of Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix), rinse three times daily. Be careful to avoid wind when going out and coming in. Cure within five to six days. In the past, Chunyu Yi treated the Grand Master of Qi with this disease by moxibustion on the Left Hand-Yangming Meridian.
Caries Formula (from "Ben Cao")
Grind Zaojia (Gleditsiae Fructus), remove skin, roast into powder. Apply to teeth and spit out.
