Non-toxic.
Fulonggan (Couch Soil) treats women's metrorrhagia, hematemesis, cough with reverse flow of qi, stops bleeding, and resolves carbuncles, swelling, and toxic vapors (Recorded by Famous Physicians). [Origin] ("Tu Jing" states) This is yellow earth under the stove pot, facing the moon. Because there is a deity in the stove, it is called Fulonggan, and named euphemistically. (Lei Gong says) When using this herb, do not mistake ordinary soil from under the stove for it. The true Fulonggan is accumulated fire energy from within the stove front over ten years, condensed like a reddish stone with yellow interior, having an eight-prismatic shape. ("Dan Fang Jing Yuan" states) If Fulonggan has been aged for ten years, dug one chi deep under the stove, pieces with a purple porcelain color can be used. ○ According to these three accounts, although all are taken from stoves, what is currently used is that which has been under the stove pot facing the moon for a long time; it is effective in treating diseases, consistent with "Tu Jing", so its use is unquestionable. [Season] (Growth) No fixed time (Harvest) No fixed time [Usage Type] Earth [Color] Purple [Taste] Acrid [Nature] Slightly warm and dispersing [Qi] Dense Qi belongs to Yang [Odor] Fishy [Action] Regulates blood, detoxifies [Processing] Grind finely and sieve before use [Indications] (Treatment) ("Tu Jing" states) Resolves accumulation and stagnation ("Ri Hua Zi" states) Stops epistaxis, intestinal wind, leukorrhea, metrorrhagia, seminal emission, hematuria, promotes delivery of placenta, treats infant night crying, stroke with restlessness and confusion ("Bie Lu" states) Treats spirit oppression causing unconsciousness and various axillary odors [Combined Treatment] Mix with earth from the intersection of four roads, grind into powder, drink to ward off infant night crying ○ Grind into powder, mix with vinegar, apply topically to carbuncles and swelling.
Toxic. Calcined.
Duanshi (Forging Stone) (From "Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing") treats carbuncles and ulcers, scabies and itching, hot qi malignant sores, leprosy, dead flesh, loss of eyebrows, kills hemorrhoid worms, removes black spots and polyps (Red characters: "Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing"), treats medullary bone carbuncle (Black characters: Recorded by Famous Physicians). [Names] Ehui, Xihui, Shi'e, Duanshi, Shiduan [Origin] ("Tu Jing" states) Grows in valleys of Zhongshan and near mountains everywhere. Currently, kilns burn bluestone to make ash. There are two types: weathered and water-activated. The weathered type, when forged ash blocks are placed in the wind, disintegrates naturally; this is potent. The water-activated type becomes hot and steams when water is poured on it, but its efficacy is inferior. [Season] (Harvest) No fixed time [Usage Type] Weathered type is superior [Color] White [Taste] Acrid and Sweet [Nature] Warm and dispersing [Qi] Both odor and taste are dense, belonging to Yang [Odor] Fishy [Action] Stops bleeding, generates flesh [Processing] (Lei Gong says) When using, soak in vinegar overnight, drain and let dry, then calcine over fire until the fishy and foul odor disappears. Store in a bottle, cover with honey, let cool, wipe off surface ash to make clean, grind finely for use. [Indications] (Treatment) ("Yao Xing Lun" states) Treats scabies eroding bad flesh, stops bleeding from traumatic injuries ("Ri Hua Zi" states) Treats vitiligo, ulcer scars and blemishes, women's facial acne, hemorrhoidal carbuncles, sores, goiters, warts, and moles. Also, after childbirth, if the vagina cannot close, decoct strongly and fumigate/wash; it heals. (Supplement) ("Ri Hua Zi" states) Warms the Water Organ [Combined Treatment] On the fifth day of the fifth month, collect Fanlou Ge Ye (Artemisia argyi and Pueraria lobata leaves), Luhuo Cao (Lycopodium japonicum), Hu Ye (Quercus dentate leaves), Shaoyao Dihuang Ye (Paeonia lactiflora and Rehmannia glutinosa leaves), Cang'er Ye (Xanthium strumarium leaves), Qinghao Ye (Artemisia annua leaves), mix with Duanshi, pound into balls the size of chicken eggs, sun-dry, grind into powder; highly effective for traumatic injuries and generating flesh ○ Mix with hundred herbs, pound into powder to treat traumatic injuries; or take bile from a yellow ox in the twelfth lunar month, mix with Duanshi, hang inside the gallbladder, expose to wind for one hundred days, then grind; also treats traumatic injuries ○ Mix with water to form porridge-like consistency, soak whole good glutinous rice grains, half buried in ash, half exposed overnight; take the rice to dab on black spots on the face ○ Mix with vinegar to form mud paste; for facial paralysis (crooked mouth), apply to the unaffected side corresponding to the affected side (apply left to right, right to left).
