[Non-toxic] Appendix: Liuli (Glass). Born from stone.
Qinglanggan (from *Shennong Bencao Jing*). Mainly treats body itching, fire sores, carbuncle injuries, scabies, and dead flesh (The above text in red characters is from *Shennong Bencao Jing*). For white alopecia and oozing sores on the skin, boil and refine for oral administration. It can raise Yin Qi and be transformed into elixir (The above text in black characters is recorded by famous physicians).
[Names] Shizhu (Stone Pearl), Qingzhu (Green Pearl).
[Origin] (*Tujing* states) Qinglanggan grows in the flat marshes of Shu Commandery, as well as in Xisui Zhou, Xi Wubai Man regions, and Khotan. Su Gong stated: Langgan has several varieties; it belongs to the category of Liuli (Glaze/Glass) and is a type of Huoqi Bao (Fire-Quench Treasure). The Huoqi pearl is named Langgan. Among the five colors, only the green variety enters medicine with superior efficacy. The Secret Library contains *Yiyi Tu*, which records that Qinglanggan grows green in the sea. Sea people retrieve it using nets hung at the bottom of the sea; when first brought out of the water, it is red, but over time turns dark green or black. Its branches resemble coral, with pores like those chewed by insects, producing a metallic sound when struck. *Erya* states: "Among the beauties of the northwest, there are Linlang from the Kunlun Ruins." Kong Anguo and Guo Pu both considered it a stone resembling a pearl. *Shanhai Jing* states that Kunlun Mountain has Langgan. If so, then it is a beautiful stone, bright and clear like the color of a pearl, yet its shape stands erect and dense. Generally speaking, ancients referred to many beautiful stones as pearls. *Guangya* states that Liuli and Coral are also pearls. Thus, *Bencao Jing* also calls it Qingzhu, which carries this meaning. Furthermore, investigating that Langgan comes from the sea, and because its luster is crystal-clear like a pearl, Su Gong's claim that it is similar to Liuli and Huoqi is actually incorrect regarding Liuli. This is because Liuli is an artificial object made by firing, whereas this is naturally formed; their difference is obvious. Moreover, *Huangji Jingshi* states that "Water generating Wood" includes Coral-like items, which precisely refers to this substance. Generally, precious and rare objects are produced in mountains, seas, valleys, and streams.
