The large ones are about three to four fen long, found everywhere, especially under bricks and in damp places, but rarely used medicinally. This name also appears in *Shennong Bencao Jing*, referring to what modern people call damp-born insects. [Harvest Time] Available at any time. [Origin] *Tujing* states: Jiaxiang is the shell of Hailei (Luoluo). It grows in the South Sea, and currently is available in coastal prefectures outside Lingnan, Minzhong, and Mingzhou. *Nanzhou Yiwuzhi* says: Large Jiaxiang is as wide as a bowl, straight on one side for several cun, with spines around the circumference. Its shell, when mixed with other fragrances and burned, enhances fragrance; burned alone, it smells foul. Also known as Liuluo; among various shells, Liuluo has the strongest flavor. Its shell is as large as a small fist, yellowish-green, 4-5 cun long. People also eat its meat, but it offers no nutritional benefit. Currently, physicians rarely use it; only incense makers need it. Before use, it must be boiled in wine to remove fishy smell and saliva, which is said to help gather fragrance and prevent dispersion. Small Jiaxiang from Taizhou is particularly good. There are many excellent shells among snails; large ones include Zhuoli (Pearl Shell), bright and pure like pearls; Yingwulu (Parrot Shell), shaped like a parrot's head, both suitable for making wine cups; Suowei Luo (Spindle-tail Shell), spindle-shaped, used by monks as wind instruments. These are not used in medicine, so they are not fully recorded. *Haiyao Bencao* states: Southerners often consume them, similar to turtles and soft-shelled turtles. There is also small Jiaxiang, resembling a snail, made from its stalk after processing. *Bencao Yanyi* states: Jiaxiang is excellent for managing incense smoke; it works very well when combined with Chenxiang (Agarwood), Tanxiang (Sandalwood), Longnao (Borneol), and Shexiang (Musk). First, boil in yellow mud water for one day, wash with warm water; second, boil in rice washing water or ash lye for one day, wash again; third, boil in honey wine for one day, wash again, then dry and use as needed. [Treatment] *Bielu* states: Harmonizes Qi, clears the mind, mainly treats Changfeng hemorrhoids, Jiaju sores, snake/scorpion/beet stings, scabies, tinea, and other sores.
