Non-toxic.
*Ge Hua Cai* (Recorded in *Bencao Gangmu*): Primarily used to refresh the mind and treat alcohol accumulation (recorded in *Taihe Zhi Lu*). [Name]: Ge Ru. [Origin]: (Li Shizhen stated) It is found on various famous mountains. Only those collected from Mount Taihe are said to be the essence of Kudzu (*Puerariae Lobatae Radix*). In autumn, when frost floats in the air, it emerges on the ground like floating Ganoderma or mushrooms; it belongs to the class of fungi. [Color]: Reddish and crisp. [Taste]: Bitter and sweet.
Non-toxic.
Ji Cong (a type of edible mushroom): Primarily used to benefit the stomach, clear the spirit, and treat hemorrhoids (from *Bencao Gangmu*). [Name]: Ji Jun (Li Shizhen stated that people in the south call it "Ji Cong," saying its taste resembles chicken). [Origin]: (Li Shizhen stated) Ji Cong grows in Yunnan, emerging as a lower-level fungus in sandy areas. Additionally, Hengzhou in Guangxi produces Lei Jun (Thunder Mushroom), which appears immediately after thunderstorms and must be harvested quickly, otherwise it rots or becomes tough. Made into soup, it is very delicious and belongs to the same category as Ji Cong. These varieties are all precious. [Morphology]: Tall stem with an umbrella-shaped cap. Locals harvest and dry them to send far away as local specialties; they are suitable for making tea or cooking meat. The aroma resembles fragrant mushrooms but lacks their distinctive charm. [Taste]: Sweet. [Nature]: Neutral.
Non-toxic.
Duo Cai: Primarily used to treat goiter qi stagnation and phlegm-fluid retention (from *Bencao Gangmu*). [Source/Miao]: (Li Shizhen stated) This is the fungus growing on the rudders of sea vessels; it is not often obtained. [Taste]: Salty and sweet. [Nature]: Cold.
Non-toxic (Chen Cangqi stated that Ku Zhu Rou has great toxicity).
Zhu Ru (from *Bencao Gangmu*): Primarily used to treat all types of dysentery (red and white); eat with ginger sauce (Meng Shen recorded). Ash juice of Ku Zhu Rou, when refined and consumed, kills three parasites, toxic evil qi, and breaks old blood (Chen Cangqi wrote "Zhu Rou" in his *Bencao* because of its taste). [Origin]: (Meng Shen stated) In Cizhu forests, during summer rains, dripping juice falls to the ground and generates "Ru," shaped like deer antlers, white, and edible. (Li Shizhen stated) This is Zhu Gu, growing on the nodes of rotting bamboo roots, shaped like wood ear fungus, reddish. (Duan Chengshi's *Youyang Zazu* states) In the Jianghuai region, there is Zhu Rou, the size of a pellet, tasting like Bai Shu Ji, which is this object; only those growing on bitter bamboo are toxic. [Contraindications]: (Chen Cangqi stated) Zhu Ru grows on bitter bamboo branches, the size of an egg, resembling chunks of meat, with great toxicity. It must be boiled three times in ash juice before being eaten like ordinary vegetables. If not properly refined, it will injure the throat causing bleeding, and cause fingernails/toes to fall off. There must be other merits unrecognized by others. [Taste]: Sweet and salty. [Nature]: Cold.
