Shishe (Stone Snake), found among the rocks near the sea in the South Sea. Its shape is coiled like a snake, without head or tail, hollow inside, red-purple in color, and resembles a charuo (a type of conch shell); it is unknown what substance transformed into it. Generally, it is of the same category as Shixie (Stone Crab), with similar medicinal functions, especially capable of resolving toxicity from mineral drugs. Those coiling to the left are considered superior. It can be collected at any time. Flavor: salty; Nature: neutral; Non-toxic.
Heiyangshi (Black Sheep Stone), grows on the west side of Gongshan in Yanzhou. Flavor: bland; Nature: hot; resolves drug toxicity. It is dug up from the ground in spring. The best quality is black with a glossy, wall-like luster.
Baiyangshi (White Sheep Stone), grows on Baiyang Mountain in Yanzhou. Flavor: bland; its nature is such that when processed (cooked), it becomes extremely hot, while raw use makes it cool; it resolves toxicity from various drugs. It is dug up from the ground in spring. The best quality is white and crystalline.
Qinglanggan (Green Langgan), grows in the flat marshes of Shujun. Su Gong annotated: Langgan comes in several varieties; it belongs to the category of liuli (glaze/glass) and is a Huoji Bao (fire-tempered treasure). Langgan possesses five colors, with the green variety being the most effective for medicinal use. It originates from the Wubai Man regions west of Sui Province and the Kingdom of Khotan. Currently, the "Yi Yu Tu" (Illustrated Rare Fish) in the Secretariat records that Langgan has holes resembling insect borings and produces a metallic sound when struck, resembling coral. Due to differing descriptions, people cannot definitively identify it. According to the "Yu Gong" chapter of the "Book of Documents": Yongzhou's tribute includes Jian, Lin, and Langgan. The "Erya" states: Among the beauties of the northwest are the Jian, Lin, and Langgan of Kunlun Mountain. Kong Anguo and Guo Pu both regarded them as stones resembling pearls. The "Classic of Mountains and Seas" states: Kunlun Mountain has Langgan. If so, these are beautiful stones, bright and clear like pearls, with an upright, dense growth habit. Generally, ancients referred to beautiful stones as pearls. The "Guangya" states that liuli and coral are also called pearls, which explains this. Thus, the "Shennong Bencao Jing" lists one of its names as Qingzhu (Green Pearl), and Zuo Si's "Shudu Fu" mentions: "Qingzhu and Huanghuan." Huanghuan is a tree, but it is cited alongside Qingzhu because it is considered beautiful like a pearl and shares similarities with solid wood. As mentioned above, these items originate from mountains in the northwest, whereas current illustrations claim they are obtained from the seabed. Presumably, rare and precious objects are produced in mountains, seas, and valleys alike. Today, medical practitioners rarely use it due to its scarcity.
