Bitter, acrid, non-toxic. Indicated for metal weapon wounds (Jinchuang), mastitis (Ruyong), various swellings, and smallpox lesions. Branches and leaves treat chronic dysentery with red and white discharge.
For dysentery during pregnancy, take one jin of the white inner bark of White Poplar, decoct in water, and divide into several doses for administration. (Verified Formula 1.)
For erosive ulcers at the corners of the mouth, take tender branches of White Poplar, burn them to charcoal on iron, mix with animal fat, and apply externally. (Formula 2.)

Originates from Nanhai and Kunlun regions; also found in Jiaozhou and Aizhou. Leaves resemble elm leaves but are not astringent; shoots grow up to one zhang long; flowers are yellow; fruits turn black when ripe.
For postpartum asthma (caused by retention of lochia), decoct in water and take with powdered Ginseng root. (Verified Formula 1.)
[Additional Notes on Zonglv/Zongpihui]
Bitter, astringent, neutral, non-toxic. Stops hematemesis, epistaxis, metrorrhagia, and leukorrhea; resolves dysentery with red and white discharge. Generates flesh, stops bleeding, breaks masses, and promotes urination. Most effective for metal weapon wounds; also treats scabies and tinea. The young shoots, fruits, and flowers have similar therapeutic effects.
Grows in Lingnan and Xichuan; now also found in Jiangnan. Trees are one to two zhang high, without branches. Leaves are large and round, like chariot wheels, clustered at the tree tips. Beneath the leaves, overlapping bark wraps the trunk, with each circular layer constituting a "segment." Two to three layers must be peeled annually; if peeled, new bark grows; if not, the tree dies or ceases to grow.
For unstoppable metrorrhagia, administer with light wine. (Verified Formula 1.)
For epistaxis, insufflate powder into the nasal cavity to stop bleeding immediately. (Formula 2.)
For persistent bloody strangury, administer with water. (Formula 3.)
For dysentery with undigested food particles. Same as above. (Formula 4.)
