This is brick accumulated in a latrine for many years. Take one piece, wash it clean, and decoct it with clear water. Skim off the floating foam. When the foam is cleared and the liquid becomes thick, take one or two cups each time to treat smallpox that fails to form pustules. It is highly effective for those who are weak and lack strength.
This is mud drilled by maggots in a cesspit; its texture is loose. Maggots overwintering in the mud must drill into this soil to make nests. During winter, the maggots shrink, develop two horn-like protrusions on their heads, become white like pupae, and transform into black insects that fly away after the Qingming Festival. Maggots must shed their skins to grow larger with each molt. When shedding, they often climb wall stones and fall from heights. After shedding one segment of skin, they climb again and fall again, repeating this process several times until fully shed. This mud has a property of drawing out pus, so it is included in medicines for expelling fistula tracts. It must be collected in winter.
Treatment for chronic hemorrhoidal fistulas forming tracts: Use one *dou* (approx. 10 liters) of maggot-drilled mud. Dry it, then stir-fry five *sheng* (approx. 5 liters) until hot, place it in a bag, and have the patient sit on it without trousers. Thick fluid and blood will drip out. When the mud cools down, stir-fry another five *sheng* to replace it. Repeat this cycle of sitting on one bag while heating another several times. The thick pus will be completely discharged, and the tract will naturally detach after three sessions. This method does not harm the body and is a frequently used, highly effective prescription.

Black in color, produced in central Guangdong. If lit with incense, smoke rises resembling flying mosquitoes; this is genuine. Chen Tingqing stated: White in color is genuine; this is the scum floating in an iron melting pot...
Divine efficacy in treating tinea: For chronic, stubborn tinea that has persisted for years and resisted treatment, first rub the affected area with ginger, then apply the powder. *Baicao Jing* records: Mix with vinegar and apply externally. Avoid ginger, pepper, and all stimulating foods. Yang Chunya's verified prescription records: Guangdong "Tixuan" powder is divinely effective for tinea. Its color resembles agarwood powder; this is Iron Wire Powder, a misnomer for "Tixuan" (Scraping Tinea).
Damp tinea on the inner aspect of both legs: Mao Shihong's Experience Collection records: Dip water chestnut (*Heleboreus Bulbus*) in Iron Wire Powder and rub the affected area; cure is immediate. (Iron Wire Powder refers to the rust scraped from cannons.)
In Guangdong, foreign trading houses imported iron wires which were sold in China. Over time, they rusted. Using a knife to scrape the rust yields a bright, new-looking surface. The scraped rust powder is named Iron Wire Powder. Its color is yellow like incense ash; the white variety is made by grinding fine the white foam floating up in iron melting pots. It is also named Iron Wire Powder. There are two types of this in Guangdong.
