Baicao Jing records: Shiha (Stone Frog, likely a local name for a plant root) grows in mountain soil; the root bark is red, and the medicinal part is the root. Zhou Weixin stated: Shiha is the root of Ying Shan Hong (Rhododendron simsii, Azalea). Huajing records: Shanzhizhu (Mountain Rhododendron), commonly known as Ying Shan Hong. It resembles the azalea but is slightly larger, with single petals that are pale in color. If it covers the mountainsides, the year will surely be abundant. There are two colors, red and purple; the red variety can have its juice extracted to dye materials. Li's Caomi records: The seedling of Shiha grows two or three chi tall, the stem is square, leaves resemble bamboo leaves, and the root shape resembles a clam, hard as stone. I, Zhao Xuemin, note: Wang Lianfang's Fang records: The root of Ying Shan Hong is named Fanshan Hu (Mountain-Climbing Tiger); locals call it Soushan Hu. It treats wind pathogens by pulling out the root cause. Physicians combine Fenghe Bashan Hu, steam it with wine, and take it orally, named Erhu Dan (Two Tigers Pill). Examining its functions, although not vastly different, investigating its morphology, they are indeed not the same species. Therefore, what is recorded in Li's Caomi should be considered correct. Decoction for washing meichuang (syphilitic sores) can eliminate wind urticaria (wind lumps).
Wind-pain: Zhu Mu's Xiaofang records: Diwugong Cao (Centipede Grass) and Shiha Cao, equal parts, decocted in Shaoxing wine and taken orally.
Changyong (Intestinal Abscess): Zhang Jingyue's Xin Fang records: Changyong occurs in the corner of the lower abdomen, characterized by slight swelling and continuous dull pain in the lower abdomen. If the toxic qi does not dissipate, it gradually enlarges, attacks inward, and ulcerates, causing major trouble. One must urgently treat it with this medicine. First, use about one liang of Hongteng (Red Vine), decocted in two bowls of good wine, taken once in the morning until drunk and sleeping; in the afternoon, take about one liang of Zihua Diding (Viola yedoensis), decocted similarly. Cessation of pain after ingestion indicates efficacy. Then, take powdered medicine to eradicate the root cause. Powder Formula: Use Danggui (Angelica sinensis) five qian, Chantui (Cicada Slough) and Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus) each two qian, Wulong (possibly a typo or specific herb), Huangqi (Astragalus - *Note: Text says Da Huang Rheum, corrected contextually if needed, but strictly translating text: Da Huang*), each one qian, Shiha five qian, and two old spiders. Place on a new tile, cover with a wine cup, dry externally over fire to preserve nature (carbonize/preserve properties), grind together with other medicines into powder. Take about one qian mixed with wine on an empty stomach, taking it day by day until the condition resolves spontaneously. (Jingyan Guangji states Shiha uses leaves.)
Touchuang (Scalp Tinea/Barber's Itch): Buyao Liangfang records: This is Feichuang that has persisted for a long time, spreading into patches, with hair becoming brittle and falling out, also known as Leitou Chuang. First, wash the crusts clean with a decoction of Aiye (Mugwort Leaf) and Ge Fen (Pigeon Droppings), then wash with pork broth. Immediately apply Zhizhu You (Rhododendron Oil): crush four liang of Zhizhu flower roots, decoct in one bowl of vegetable oil until charred, remove dregs, add a small amount of Huangla (Yellow Beeswax), filter through cloth, and let cool. Apply with a blue cloth, three times daily, wear a felt hat, avoid wind, disperse toxins, stop itching, promote hair growth, and long-term application yields results.
Dingzhong (Carbuncles) and various toxic swellings. Li's Caomi records: Shiha is ground with wine and taken orally; even a small amount entering the mouth can save a dying person. With this medicine, one need not fear Dingchuang (hard carbuncles); for various toxic swellings, grind with vinegar and apply topically.
