Wang's Collection of Medicinal Plants: This is the Sparrow Horn Flower. This flower can dispel anger in people. The flower resembles a sparrow's foot, and hunters collect it to boil into poison for arrows, calling it "Poguan Grass" (Break-Gate Grass). People use it to treat internal rotting hemorrhoids and fistulas, calling it "Poguan Grass" (Break-Pipe Grass).
Its nature is hot and its qi is fierce; it damages the skin and can immediately cause abscesses to ulcerate. It must be processed with rice vinegar before use. It is a caustic substance that harms the intestines and is not used in decoctions for internal administration; it is only used externally to apply to hemorrhoids and fistulas.

Ye Guanmen (Night-Closing Door) - Appendix
Baicao Jing (Mirror of Hundred Herbs): Also known as Jinhua Baozi (Golden Flower Leopard). Seedlings emerge in March and wither in October. Although it belongs to the legume family, it does not climb or spread vines. The stem is one to two cun high, branching into clumps.
The leaves resemble those of the locust tree but are slightly larger. Yellow flowers bloom during the Beginning of Cold Weather (Chushu), with five petals forming a chalice shape, resembling winter jasmine. The pods grow upward, similar to but shorter than common beans, measuring only two to three cun in length. The seeds resemble mung beans but are flatter, with purple spots on the skin, slightly larger than mung beans, and have a bland taste.
Seeds: Effectively treat ding carbuncles and abscesses.
Leaves: Treat swelling and toxicity. Mao Family Prescribed Method: Dry the leaves, grind them into powder, mix with vinegar, and apply topically. If the head of the sore is left intact, it will dissipate; alternatively, take two to three qian with wine.
Note: Fu Dan'an's Herbal Flower Rules states: Golden Bean opens yellow flowers, seeds like mung beans, when put into boiling tea, the flavor is fragrant; this is Caojueming (Grass Cassia Seed). Zhou Xianwang's Famine Relief Herbal records: There is Shanbiandou (Mountain Flat Bean), which is Jiangmangjue Ming (Jiangmang Cassia). It has a sweet and slippery taste, can be used to make yeast, commonly called Duzhangang (Exclusive Vat). The seedlings, leaves, flowers, and seeds can all be boiled for food or brewed as tea. The described shape is also identical to the Golden Bean. However, Li Shizhen's Compendium of Materia Medica, after appending Jiangmang under Jue Ming, states: Nature is neutral, non-toxic; roasted over fire for drink, it is extremely fragrant, removes phlegm, quenches thirst, induces sleeplessness to regulate the middle jiao. The one collected by Chanter Sui Chou to make Five-Color Drink presented to Emperor Yang of Sui is this species. There is no mention of treating ding carbuncles and swelling, so both are preserved for reference.
Leaves resemble locust leaves, closing at night, opening yellow flowers. Many people in Jianqiao, Renhe county plant it. Yu Xiaoyuan says: There are two types, herbaceous and woody: the herbaceous type is superior, the woody type...
Note: In the Compendium, Matijue Ming (Horse Hoof Cassia), leaves also resemble locust leaves, opening by day and closing by night; its leaves are small at the base and pointed at the tip, blooming yellow flowers in autumn, perhaps it is indeed Jue Ming.
But the Compendium records the pod...
Pods: Treat hernia.
