Old Lacquerware:

Postpartum Syncope (Chanhou Fangyun):
Due to excessive blood loss, the intestines become dry, persisting for ten days or more, accompanied by abdominal distension and urgency, pain, dizziness and stuffiness (Menmao), panting, coma, and physical weakness. If purgatives are used, it will inevitably lead to danger; if not used, there is no way to achieve bowel movement. Physician Guo said that he once used the ancient method of Honey Suppository (Midao Fa), which resulted in immediate defecation without causing harm. This is truly a life-saving method. Although this prescription appears in Zhang Zhongjing's *Treatise on Cold Pathogenic Diseases* (*Shanghan Lun*), it is not recorded in obstetric texts, making it most critical.

The above seven herbs are ground into powder and mixed evenly. Take 1 qian per dose, mixed with decoction made from the white part of leeks, taken on an empty stomach and before meals, and especially effective when taken at noon.
My cousin's nephew, when over ten years old, once visited Hui Mountain. Upon returning in the twilight, he encountered a giant drunkard sleeping at the temple gate, became frightened and palpitated, and fell ill. Since then, he urinated and defecated fifty to sixty times a day. Medical treatment for several months was ineffective. He then consulted Gao Fengchen with his condition, who immediately wrote down and gave him this prescription. After taking the medicine for a short while, symptoms decreased day by day, initially from thirty to twenty times, finally to ten-plus times. He recovered after taking two doses.
