Specifically treats epidemic febrile diseases (Wenyi, 温疫), malaria (Nue, 疟), dysentery (Li, 痢), rotting throat (Lanhou, 烂喉), dan sha (Dan sha, 丹痧 - scarlet fever-like disease), macules and papules (Banzhen, 斑疹), seasonal toxins (Shidu, 时毒), carbuncles and furuncles (Yongjie, 痈疖), all sores and toxins, summer-heat wind (Shufeng, 暑风), sudden obstruction by pathogenic factors (Zuwu, 卒忤), and various macule-sha qi syndromes. The method of administration is listed below.
For treating dysentery: For bloody stools, use Black Gardenia Fruit (Heishanzhi, 黑山栀) (1 qian); for white mucus/stool, use three slices of fresh Ginger (Shengjiang, 生姜). Decoct in water to dissolve and administer.
For treating malaria: Use three large slices of fresh Ginger (Shengjiang, 生姜) and Processed Pinellia Tuber (Zhibanxia, 制半夏) (1 qian). Decoct in water to dissolve and administer.
For treating persistent high fever with macules and papules that fail to erupt fully: For mild cases, one to two doses suffice; for severe cases, two to three doses will result in recovery.
For treating sore throat caused by Wind-Fire: One dose results in cure. For severe cases, two doses. It is also effective for unilateral or bilateral tonsillitis (Dan/Shuang E, 单/双蛾). However, Rotting Throat Sha (Lanhou Sha, 烂喉痧) progresses most rapidly, potentially causing death from morning to evening, rendering conventional medicine ineffective. This remedy has the power to revive the dying. If there is swelling and pain in the throat, blockage, and thick phlegm, immediately administer five qian with water, ensuring safety and peace.
For treating continuous fever during summer and autumn, or headache, dizziness, or alternating chills and fever: Regardless of whether the cause is Cold, Summer-heat, or Food Stagnation, taking one or two qian of this remedy leads to immediate recovery.
For treating epidemic febrile diseases and seasonal toxins from cold damage: Administration of this remedy results in recovery.
For treating various macule-sha qi syndromes: In severe cases, although this pill is administered, it may be too slow to address the emergency. One should simultaneously use Wolong Dan (卧龙丹) insufflated into the nose to induce sneezing, which leads to recovery. Additionally, swallow one fen of Babao Hongling Dan If unavailable, Zijin Ding (紫金锭) or Tangqi Shaya (塘栖痧药) can be used as substitutes.
For treating eye diseases: Whether redness, swelling, pain, photophobia, or sticky ocular discharge, one dose results in cure.
For treating early-stage carbuncles and furuncles: Mix with Ginger Juice (Jiangzhi, 姜汁) for oral administration. For erysipelas with redness and swelling, mix with Honey Water (Mizhi, 蜜汁) for external application.
Formula for Qiye Dan (Seven Liquids Pill):
Talcum (Huashi, 滑石) (19 liang), Fresh Peilan Leaf Juice (Xianpeilan Ye Zhi, 鲜佩兰叶汁), Fresh White Radish Juice (Xianbailuobo Zhi, 鲜白萝卜汁), Fresh Huoxiang Leaf Juice (Xianhuoxiang Ye Zhi, 鲜藿香叶汁), Fresh Perilla Leaf Juice (Xianzisu Ye Zhi, 鲜紫苏叶汁), Fresh Mint Leaf Juice (Xianbohe Ye Zhi, 鲜薄荷叶汁), Fresh Biota Orientalis Leaf (Xiancebai Ye, 鲜侧柏叶) (each 5 liang), Rheum Palmatum Root and Rhizome (Jinwen Dahuang, 锦纹大黄) (3 liang, raw).
Grind into fine powder, and mix well with 3 liang of aged rice wine.
First, grind Talcum (Huashi, 滑石) extremely finely and remove the coarse sediment. Soak 3 liang of Licorice Root (Fangansheng Gancao, 粉甘草) in water to make a decoction. Pour and wash until clean, utilizing the full strength of the Licorice decoction. Spread on a tile basin to dry.
Immerse the seven juices in any order. Since Biota Orientalis Leaf (Cebaiye, 侧柏叶) is difficult to extract juice from, it must be pounded together with fresh lotus root until mushy, then squeezed to obtain the juice. After all herbs are mixed into the Talcum powder, dry and grind finely for storage. Weigh accurately. Each dose is 4 qian, formed into one large pill, dried and sealed for easy transport. Take 4 qian per dose. Suitable for men, women, young, old, pregnant, postpartum, and those with blood disorders. Those with robust constitutions or severe conditions may double the dose. Children take half the dose.
