According to the *Yiwuzhi* (Record of Strange Things): It originates from Mount Kunlun. Furthermore, according to the *Huainanzi*: It originates from Mount Zhong. It is also stated that Lantian produces fine jade, and Yankou produces bi-jade (a type of flat circular jade with a hole in the center). The taste is salty, the nature is cold, and it is non-toxic. It primarily treats Xiao Ke (wasting-thirst syndrome), nourishes the five zang organs, relieves irritability, and is suitable for decocting together with Bai Yin Jin (Silver Leaf) and Maidong (Ophiopogon Tuber); this yields significant benefits. The *Xianjing* (Classic of Immortals) states: The method of consuming jade as if it were melting into water is recorded in the *Huainanzi Thirty-Six Water Methods*. Additionally, the *Biebaojing* (Scripture on Distinct Treasures) states: Regarding stones containing jade, one should view the stone against a lamp at night; if there is a red glow inside, bright like the newly risen sun, then one knows there is jade within. The *Chu Ji* (Records of Chu) states: Bian He offered jade three times but was not recognized, thus suffering the punishment of amputation of the feet. Later, a discerning person verified it by holding it up to the light, realizing the jade was inside the stone, which was then made into the Imperial Seal, worth cities linked together in value. (*Daguan Bencao* Vol. 3, p. 9; *Zhenghe Bencao* p. 82; *Bencao Gangmu* p. 614)
The *Yunjí* (Collection of Rhymes) states: It is born in Western countries, belonging to the category of jade stones, resembling clams or cockles, with visible grain patterns. It is extremely cold and non-toxic. It primarily calms the spirit and stabilizes the residence, and resolves various poisons and insect stings. Using one piece of Eryx javanicus (Hairy Turtle Shell) and Chequ (Chambered Nautilus Shell), ground together with human milk and taken orally, is highly effective. Furthermore, the *Xiyuji* (Records of the Western Regions) states: The beams and eaves of grand halls are decorated with the Seven Precious Treasures, and this is one of them. (*Daguan Bencao* Vol. 3, p. 37; *Zhenghe Bencao* p. 96; *Bencao Gangmu* p. 1647)
The *Guangzhou Zhi* (Chronicles of Guangzhou) states: It is produced in Persia. The taste is salty, sour, and astringent, and it is toxic. It primarily treats Yeji Jia (abdominal masses resembling wild pheasants), hemorrhoids, malignant sores, scabies, and tinea corporis. Those that, when broken open, reveal golden thread-like patterns inside are considered superior grade and are often used by households for burning/incense purposes. (*Daguan Bencao* Vol. 3, p. 37; *Zhenghe Bencao* p. 96)
The *Guangzhou Ji* (Records of Guangzhou) states: It originates from Daqin (Rome/Byzantium). Its color is white and crystal clear, with thorn-like needle patterns inside. The taste is sour and astringent, the nature is warm, and it is non-toxic. It eliminates acute redness and swelling of the eyes and toothache. Processing it by calcination/fire refining is beneficial; it is incompatible with Muli (Oyster Shell). It is frequently used by alchemists, and its efficacy surpasses that of the material from Shimen in Hexi. Recently, it is said that various foreign merchants in various prefectures also possess it, and it can be used. (*Daguan Bencao* Vol. 3, p. 37; *Zhenghe Bencao* p. 96; *Bencao Gangmu* p. 707)
