*Spinal Classics* Chapter 10 states: It follows inside the hypochondrium, emerges at Qichong, winds around the pubic hair, and enters horizontally into Biyan. ○ Master Hua Shou says: The hypochondrium is the area under the armpit; the division of the pubic bone is the pubic hair; the pulsating vessels on both sides of the pubic hair are Qichong; below the pubic bone is Biyan, which is Bisu. From the Gallbladder origin, it follows inside the hypochondrium past Zhangmen, emerges at Qichong, winds around the pubic hair, and then enters horizontally into Biyan, specifically Huantiao within Biyan. ○ Zhangmen is seen in the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian (intersection of Foot-Shaoyang and Jueyin); Qichong is seen in the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian; Huantiao is in Bisu.
The straight branch continues from Quepen down to the axilla, follows the chest to Yuanye, Zhejin, Riyue, to Zhangmen and the costal margin, then runs along the Daimai, with Wushu and Weidao acupoints located there, yet merging with the upper division, Zhong, Jiachi, Changqiang, where the Foot-Shaoyang and Yin intersect and meet at Huantiao and Bisu, inside the Taiyang meridian, outside the Yangming meridian, Zhongdu, Yangguan, Dubi, deviating to exit the knee.
*Spinal Classics* Chapter 10 states: The straight branch descends from Quepen to the axilla, follows the chest, passes the costal margin, merges below into Biyan, descends along the lateral thigh, exits the lateral knee. ○ Master Hua Shou says: Below the rib cage is the costal margin. This straight branch descends directly from Quepen to the axilla, follows the chest passing Yuanye, Zhejin, and Riyue acupoints, passes the costal margin, follows Jingmen, Daimai, Wushu, Weidao, Ju Liao, enters Shang, Zhong, Changqiang, and descends, merging with those entering Biyan anteriorly, then descends along the lateral thigh, running between the Taiyang and Yangming meridians, passing Zhongdu and Yangguan, exiting the lateral knee, reaching Yanglingquan. ○ Shang and Zhong are seen in the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian; Shang is the collateral of Foot-Shaoyang and Taiyang; Zhong is the intersection of Foot-Shaoyin and Shaoyang. Changqiang is seen in the Du Meridian (intersection of Foot-Shaoyin and Shaoyang); Dubi is seen in the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian.

There should be another branch from Linque, traversing the dorsum horizontally into the intermetatarsal space, piercing the nail and the tuft of hair, reaching the tip of the big toe; its name is Dadun, intersecting the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian, belonging to the Liver.
Chapter 10 states: Its branch diverges from the dorsum, enters the big toe, follows inside the intermetatarsal space, emerges at the tip, returns to pierce the nail, and emerges at the tuft of hair. ○ Master Hua Shou says: The post-metatarsal joint of the big toe is the intermetatarsal space; behind the big toe nail is the tuft of hair. Its branch diverges from Linque on the dorsum, enters the big toe, follows inside the intermetatarsal space, emerges at the tip of the big toe, returns to enter the nail, and emerges at the tuft of hair.
General Song:
At the outer canthus, it meets the vertex, travels behind the ear, passes through Quepen, connects with the Liver.
Descending along Biyan, it flows to the knee, passes the tuft of hair, and exits the tip of the toe.
Commentary: The meridian of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder originates at the outer canthus, Tongziliao, and ends at Qiaoyin, the tip of the fourth and fifth toes. Its branch diverges from Linque on the dorsum, travels to the tip of the big toe, is eight chi long, and intersects with the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian; thus, the Foot-Jueyin meridian originates at Dadun, the tuft of hair at the tip of the big toe.
Acupoint Song:
Foot-Shaoyang meridian starts at Tongziliao, forty-three acupoints travel far.
Tinghui, Kecheren, Hanyan gather; Xuanlu, Xuanli, Qubin rise.
Shuaigu, Tianchong, Fubai follow; Qiaoyin, Wangu, Benshen stand.
Yangbai, Linque open Muchuang; Zhengying, Chengling, Naokong continue.
Fengchi, Jianbing, Yuanye are long; Zhejin, Riyue, Jingmen are proper.
Daimai, Wushu, Weidao continue; Juliao, Huantiao descend to Zhongdu.
Yangguan, Yanglingquan, then Yangjiao; Waiqiu, Guangming, Yangfu are high.
Xuanzhong, Qiuxu, Foot-Linque; Diwu, Xiaxi, Qiaoyin finish.
In the previous diagram of this meridian, twenty acupoints from Tongziliao to Fengchi in the head run outward in three folds. Tongziliao to Wangu is one fold; Wangu outward to Yangbai meeting Jingming is one fold; Jingming upward following Linque and Fengchi is one fold. Because the acupoints are numerous and twisted, difficult to classify, they are listed sequentially from one to twenty. 1. Tongziliao 2. Tinghui 3. Kecheren 4. Hanyan 5. Xuanlu 6. Xuanli 7. Qubin 8. Shuaigu 9. Tianchong 10. Fubai 11. Qiaoyin 12. Wangu 13. Benshen 14. Yangbai 15. Linque 16. Muchuang 17. Zhengying 18. Chengling 19. Naokong 20. Fengchi.
Song of Is-Dong and Suo-Sheng Diseases:
This meridian has much Qi and little Blood. Is-Dong diseases include bitter taste, frequent sighing.
Heart and hypochondriac pain difficult to turn; facial dust, hot feet, body lacks luster.
Suo-Sheng diseases include headache connecting to the outer canthus, swelling and pain in Quepen and both axillae.
Ma Dao and Jia Ying arise on both sides; sweating, shivering chills, malaria in the chest.
Hypochondriac, costal, thigh, knee, to the shin, Jiegu, ankle pain, and all joints.
*Spinal Classics* Chapter 10 states: Is-Dong diseases involve bitter taste, frequent sighing, heart and hypochondriac pain unable to turn sides, severe cases have a dusty face and lack of luster, feet externally reversed heat, called Yang Jue. Suo-Sheng diseases involve the bone: headache, mandible pain, outer canthus pain, swelling and pain in Quepen, axillary swelling, Ma Dao and Jia Ying, sweating, shivering chills, malaria, chest and hypochondriac pain, lateral costal, thigh, knee, to the shin, Jiegu, anterior to the lateral malleolus, and all joints painful, fourth and fifth toes non-functional. For these diseases, excess is drained, deficiency is tonified, heat is treated quickly, cold is retained, sinking points are moxaed, neither excess nor deficiency is taken from the meridian. Excess: Renying is one times larger than Cunkou; deficiency: Renying is smaller than Cunkou. ○ Master Hua Shou: "Face slightly" lacks the character "have"; "Axillary swelling" writes "swelling" as "Xiao".
