(It is Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex). When used, shave off the rough outer bark with a knife. Soak in raw honey water for half a day, drain and dry. Apply honey and roast over alternating mild and strong fire until the honey is completely absorbed. For processing five liang, use three liang of honey. Another method: stir-fry with salted wine until brown. Averse to Gansuqi (Drynariae Rhizoma), subdues Liuhuang (Sulfur).)
(When using, after harvesting, soak in water for three days. Stir and swirl; discard those that float. Dry, then soak in wine for one shichen (12 hours). Steam from Si hour (09:00-11:00) to Hai hour (21:00-23:00), then take out and bake dry for use.)
(When using, boil together with Hucong (Allium fistulosum var. ramosum) for twenty boils. Add cold water, rub and pull dozens of times, then dry for use.)
(Those imported by foreign ships are superior; they are redder in color, sweet in aroma but not pungent, and superior for medicinal use compared to those deep purple in color.)
(For clearing the head and eyes, use bitter [variety]; for promoting digestion and directing Qi downward, use good tea.)
[Note: The source text here appears fragmented or corrupted regarding specific herb names associated with "stem/leaf" and "seed". Translating literally as per instructions.]
(Stems and leaves crushed for juice to steep rice for cooking; seeds used for astringing essence and tonification.)
(Fire, until black smoke ceases, preserve nature, grind like flying dust. Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) guides it. Averse to Jizi (Chicken Egg?), Zisu (Perillae Folium), Shanmu (Cedar Wood), Qigucao (Euphorbia humifusa), Xie (Crab). Avoid grease.)
