Prescription: Zhi Shi (Immature Bitter Orange Fruit, bran-fried, 1 liang), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 2 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above herbs into fine powder. Wrap in lotus leaves with rice, roast until cooked, mix with the powder, and make pills the size of tung tree seeds. Take 50 pills per dose; for larger doses, administer with plain warm water.
Commentary: The discussion states that the original intention of using Bai Zhu is not to achieve rapid digestion of food, but to strengthen stomach qi over time, thereby preventing dietary injury.

Preparation and Administration: Grind the above herbs into fine powder. Mix with rice roasted in lotus leaves to make pills the size of tung tree seeds. Take 50 pills per dose with warm water, taken well after meals.
Commentary: This represents the general principle for treating internal injury. Its value lies in strengthening the person's stomach qi, making it robust enough to withstand heavy or excessive eating without injury. This utilizes food as medicine effectively.
Qu Zhizhu Wan (Shenqu Zhizhu Pill): Treats abdominal fullness and discomfort caused by forced overeating.
Prescription: Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 2 liang), Zhi Shi (Immature Bitter Orange Fruit, fried), Shen Qu (Medicated Leaven, fried), Mai Ya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus, flour-fried, each 1 liang).

Muxiang Huazhi Tang (Vladimiria Decoction for Removing Stagnation): Treats conditions where emotional distress, qi stagnation, food stagnation, and damp noodles knot in the middle jiao (epigastrium), causing deep pain under the abdominal skin, epigastric fullness and oppression, loss of appetite, undigested food, and chronic qi stagnation.
Prescription: Muxiang (Vladimiria Root), Honghua (Carthami Flos, each 3 qian), Ju Pi (Citrus Reticulata Peel), Danggui Shao (Angelica Sinensis Radical Tip, each 2 qian), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, 4 qian), Caodoukou (Cardamomi Fructus), Gan Cao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, each 0.5 liang), Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber, 1 liang), Zhi Shi (Immature Bitter Orange Fruit, fried, 2 qian).

Preparation and Administration: Grind the above herbs into fine powder. Mix with rice roasted in lotus leaves to make pills the size of mung bean seeds. Take 50-60 pills per dose with warm water. Preparation and Administration: Grind the above herbs into fine powder. Moisten steamed bread cake with decoction, mix with powder, and make pills the size of mung bean seeds. Take 50 pills per dose with plain warm water. Adjust dosage according to the amount of ingested cold food.
Commentary: The discussion states that if used in winter, a different prescription should be made excluding Huang Qin, because if the year's fire energy is insufficient and cold food injures the body, adding warm agents is the correct treatment. However, if the injury is caused by hot foods, one should temporarily use cold medicines. One must know how to adapt to the circumstances.
Chushi Yiqi Wan (Dampness-Removing and Qi-Nourishing Pill): Treats epigastric and abdominal fullness and heaviness of the limbs caused by dampness injury.
Prescription: Zhi Shi (Immature Bitter Orange Fruit, bran-fried), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, each 1 liang), Luobai Zi (Raphani Semen, fried, deodorized, 0.5 liang), Shen Qu (Medicated Leaven, fried, 1 liang), Honghua (Carthami Flos, 3 qian).

Baizhu Wan (Atractylodes Pill): Treats injuries caused by consuming beans, starches, wet noodles, and greasy foods.
Prescription: Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber, washed in hot water), Shen Qu (Medicated Leaven, fried), Zhi Shi (Immature Bitter Orange Fruit, fried, each 1 liang), Ju Pi (Citrus Reticulata Peel, 7 qian), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, 0.5 liang), Bai Fan (Alumen, calcined, 3 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above herbs into fine powder. Moisten steamed bread cake with decoction, mix with powder, and make pills the size of mung bean seeds, doubling the quantity. Take 50 pills per dose with plain warm water. Adjust dosage according to the amount of ingested food.
Discussion: Vegetarians often use Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger); therefore, Huang Qin is added to drain heat. All the above formulas should be selected based on cold or heat patterns, originating from the Taiyin category.
Ge Hua Jieying Tang (Kudzu Flower Decoction for Relieving Hangover)
Prescription: Baidoukou (Amomi Fructus Rotundus), Sharen (Amomi Fructus), Ge Hua (Puerariae Flos, each 0.5 liang), Muxiang (Vladimiria Root, 0.5 qian), Qingpi (Green Tangerine Peel, 3 qian), Chenpi (Aged Citrus Peel), Baifuling (Poria Cocos with White Mycelium), Zhuling (Polyporus, Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), each 1.5 qian), Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Shen Qu (Medicated Leaven, fried), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, each 2 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above herbs into fine powder and mix evenly. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with plain warm water. A slight sweat indicates the hangover is cured.
Commentary: This formula is a last resort; one cannot rely on it to drink alcohol daily. Although the formula has pungent and spicy flavors, taking it occasionally for hangover does not damage yuan qi because it counteracts the pathogenic effects of alcohol. However, frequent use damages natural lifespan.
Chushi San (Dampness-Removing Powder): Treats injuries caused by drinking horse milk and cow, sheep, or camel milk, addressing all cold diseases.
Prescription: Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen, fried), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma, each 0.5 liang), Shen Qu (Medicated Leaven, fried, 1 liang), Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber, soaked in hot water seven times), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, each 3 qian), Honghua (Carthami Flos), Gan Cao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, each 2 qian), Fuling (Poria Cocos, 7 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above herbs into fine powder. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with plain warm water, administered before meals.
Wuling San (Five-Ling Powder)
Source: See the Dampness section.
Commentary: The above three formulas belong to the Taiyang category medications; they are exquisite and effective draining agents.
Sanleng Xiaoji Wan (Sparganium Pill for Reducing Accumulation): Treats epigastric and abdominal fullness caused by inability to digest raw, cold, and hard foods.
Prescription: Dingpi (Clove Bark), Yizhiren (Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus, each 3 qian), Chenpi (Aged Citrus Peel), Qingpi (Green Tangerine Peel, each 5 qian), Huixiang (Foeniculi Fructus, fried, 0.5 liang), Chao Qu (Fried Medicated Leaven), Guang Zhu (Curcumae Longae Rhizoma, processed), Jing Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma, processed, each 7 qian), Badou (Crotonis Fructus, stir-fried with rice, remove rice, 5 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above herbs into fine powder. Make pills with vinegar paste the size of tung tree seeds. Take 10-20 pills per dose before meals with warm ginger decoction.
Beiji Dahuang Wan (Emergency Da Huang Pill for Acute Conditions): Treats various sudden acute diseases of the heart and abdomen.
Prescription: Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Badou (Crotonis Fructus, peeled, each 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Carefully select high-quality herbs, sift them, mix with honey, and pound for one thousand strokes. Make pills the size of small soybeans. Take 3 pills per dose, adjusting for patient size. For cases of evil invasion or guest qi causing sudden abdominal distension and pain like needle/stabbing, shortness of breath, locked jaw, or syncope, administer with warm water or wine. If the pill is not swallowed, prop up the head to facilitate swallowing. If symptoms do not improve shortly, give another 3 pills. When bowel sounds occur and vomiting or purging happens, recovery follows. If the jaw is locked, break the teeth to insert the pill, which is optimal. Avoid Asparagus, pork, cold water, and fatty foods. Mr. Zhang Shengzhen from Yishui also calls this pill "Duxing Wan"; it is an emergency formula.
Haizang Shenyin Wan (Sea Storehouse Miraculous Pill): Treats abdominal pain, borborygmus, and undigested food caused by all cold items, cold water, and animal milks/cheeses.
Prescription: Badou (Crotonis Fructus), Xingren (Pruni Armeniaci Semen), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Baicaoshuang (Carbonized Bamboo Charcoal, each 0.5 liang), Dingxiang (Clove), Muxiang (Vladimiria Root, each 2 qian), Huangla (Yellow Beeswax, 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: First, boil the yellow beeswax in good vinegar and strain. Stir-fry Badou and Xingren together until black smoke ceases, then grind into a paste. Reheat the wax, add a small amount of oil to melt, pour into the almond paste, and stir. Immediately add the powdered Dingxiang and Muxiang, mix evenly, roll into strips, wrap in oiled paper, and form pills as needed. Take 30-50 pills per dose before meals with warm rice drink.
Emetic Agents
Gua Di San (Melon Peduncle Powder)
Source: See the Phlegm-Fluids section.
Commentary: The discussion states that if the pulses at both chi positions are absent, this medicine should not be used immediately, as it may damage yuan qi and prevent stomach qi recovery. If there is only chest obstruction, stuffiness, and confusion, induce vomiting by probing the throat with a finger. If unsuccessful, use an object to probe the throat. Stop once vomiting occurs. If food remains, use this medicine to remove it.
