Chen Shigong stated: Bai Tu Chuang (White Alopecia Areata), commonly known as "La Li" (Ringworm of the Scalp), occurs when the Cou Li (skin texture and pores) open during hair shaving, allowing external Wind pathogens to invade and accumulate. This prevents Qi and Blood from nourishing the skin and flesh, leading to dryness and the formation of Bai Tu Chuang. Over time, the hair turns white and falls out. (From *Waike Zhengzong*)
Shen Douyuan stated: Tu Chuang (Scalp Alopecia) is caused by Damp-Heat affecting the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian and the Du Mai (Governing Vessel), generating parasites that cause itching. It presents with high piles of crusts. When Wind invades, white scales appear; when Heat is severe, hair loss occurs; over time, the follicles are damaged and no longer grow hair. Treatment should focus on dispelling Wind, removing Dampness, killing parasites, relieving itching, and nourishing Blood. (From *Qixuan Weizhi*)
Wang Shengzhi stated: Long-standing Bai Tu Chuang leads to hair loss due to lack of nourishment at the root. If the bald patch is shiny and not itchy, it indicates a failure of internal Blood to nourish the area; apply Ginger Rubbing Rumin Muscle Paste frequently to promote gradual regrowth. If the bald patch is dry and itchy, it indicates the presence of internal parasites; appropriate parasiticidal medications should be used. (From *Yangyi Lili*)
