Hu Gongbi stated: When sores fail to heal for a long time, they often develop into fistula conditions (Lòu zhèng), characterized by continuous discharge of pus with an offensive odor. If there is no necrotic tissue inside, one should first administer large doses of Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), and Xiong Qiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma) to support the interior and expel toxins. Subsequently, use processed Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) soaked thoroughly in urine from a young boy, sliced into thick pieces of 2-3 fen thickness, applied to the sore, and moxibusted. Continue administering interior-supporting formulas. Moxibustion should be performed every three days. Within five to seven sessions, healthy granulation tissue will form, and the wound will naturally fill and heal. (From *Qing Nang*)
Wang Kentang stated: Sores leaking (Chuāng lòu) refers to the condition where fluid continuously discharges from orifices. Qi leak (Qì lòu) presents with fluctuating swelling or reduction, accompanied by unbearable pain and distension. Wind leak (Fēng lòu) is characterized by severe itching within the sore opening. Yin leak (Yīn lòu) involves pain and fluid discharge from the genitals in both men and women. Cold leak (Lěng lòu) manifests as continuous discharge of white pus and yellow fluid from the orifice. Hemorrhoidal fistula (Zhì lòu) results from chronic hemorrhoids exacerbated by sexual indulgence, leading to rupture, pus discharge, and failure of the wound to close. Blood leak (Xuè lòu) involves continuous bleeding of fresh blood, also known as heat leak (Rè lòu). HT leak refers to the formation of orifices on flat flesh with purulent and bloody discharge. Atrophic parotid leak (Wěi sāi lòu) occurs when sores suddenly turn black and rot, discharging yellow-black fluid.
Gu Shicheng stated: Cases of perforation and fistula formation are mostly due to deficiency and exhaustion of Qi and Blood. After ulceration, pus appears initially, followed by thin, clear fluid. Prolonged non-healing leads to the formation of fistulous tracts. Some cases arise because incompetent physicians daily insert medicinal threads into the sore, grinding the tender internal tissue into thickened tissue, preventing rapid closure. Initially forming tender tracts, these harden over time and may branch out extensively. Other cases result from excessive loss of pus and blood, causing Yin deficiency and hyperactive Yang fire, leading to nocturnal emissions or sexual indiscretion, resulting in the "Nine Leaks" syndrome, which is extremely difficult to treat. Internal administration of tonifying and supporting formulas is essential, along with strict abstinence from sexual activity. Externally, medications to dissolve tracts should be used, combined with internal administration of Tuǎn Guǎn Wán Dān (Pill and Elixir to Resolve Tracts) to eliminate internal tracts before healing can occur.
Furthermore, it is stated that after sore ulceration, scallions (Cōng bái) must be avoided to prevent the formation of tracts.
Chen Shigong stated: Life and death cannot be discerned except by the sacred and divine. Diseases cannot have their auspicious or ominous outcomes determined without a enlightened physician. Otherwise, confusion arises, and judgment becomes inconsistent. I additionally transmit the "One Branch Plum" formula of Lü Zu, which is truly a celestial prescription. (From *Zhèng Zōng*)
Lü Zu's One Branch Plum: Treats new and chronic diseases in adults, men, women, and children, particularly when the prognosis is uncertain between life and death. Prepare a medicated cake the size of an Euryale Seed (Qiàn shí), apply it to the Yintang acupoint (Ex-HN3), light one stick of official incense, and remove the medicine when the incense burns out. After approximately one hour, if a red halo appears at the application site and swelling dissipates, this is called "Red Clouds Embracing the Sun." Even if the disease is critical, the patient will survive. If, after one hour, there is no swelling or redness, and the skin and flesh remain unchanged, this is called "White Clouds Covering the Wild." Even if the disease appears mild, the outcome will ultimately be fatal. This application is also effective for infantile convulsions (acute and chronic) and dysentery in all ages, resolving redness and swelling. Using this formula allows for the prediction of life and death.
Ingredients: Zhū Shā (Cinnabar, 3 qian), Yín Zhū (Vermilion, 5.1 qian), Wǔ Líng Zhī (Trogopterus Dung, 3 qian), Shè Xiāng (Musk, 3 fen), Bì Má Zǐ (Ricinus Seed, 5 fen), Xióng Huáng (Realgar), Bà Dòu Rén (Castor Bean Kernel, each 5 qian, oil not removed).
Grind all ingredients into fine powder. On the Dragon Boat Festival day at noon, grind them together in a clean room. Mix with oil and rouge to form a paste. Store in a porcelain jar; avoid contact with women's hands. For use, take a pill the size of a bean, shape into a cake, and apply to Yintang. The effect will be immediate. Dispose of the used cake by casting it into a river.
