Application Method
Ru Xiang (Frankincense), Mo Yao (Myrrh), Hai Piao Xiao (Cuttlefish Bone), Chi Shi Zhi (Red Halloysite) (equal parts each)
Grind into fine powder. Melt Huang La (Yellow Beeswax), mix evenly with the powder to form a cake, apply to the affected area and bandage; it will heal immediately.
Shen Douyuan stated: "Liushui Mageng Chuang" (Flowing Water Hemp-Root Sore) mostly occurs below the heel. The area is red, ulcerated, and contains thread-like flesh strands resembling hemp roots, hence the name. This involves the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian (a meridian governing the exterior defense, characterized by abundant blood and deficient qi). It is often caused by excessive sexual activity. Furthermore, since it is located at the sole of the heel, it is difficult to cure. One must remove the foul-smelling necrotic tissue caused by yin infection. Use Hong Sheng Yao (Red Ascending Medicine, a corrosive external calx containing mercury) mixed with dried ash of Ramie Root (Zhu Ma Gen) applied as a dusting powder. Internal administration of Shen Qi Wan (Kidney Qi Pill) is advisable. (From *Qi Xuan*)
*Yi Zong Jin Jian · Xin Fa Yao Jue* states: "Tu Su" is also known as "Liuli Ju" (Glaze Carbuncle). It appears beside the heel, shaped like a jujube or millet grain, shiny and yellow in color, swelling like glaze. This results from walking on rough terrain, causing trauma to the sinews, bones, and blood vessels. Once pus matures, puncture it with a needle. If there is little pus but much fluid, apply Tuo Seng Gao (Tuo Seng Ointment). (From *Jin Jian*)
Shen Douyuan stated: "When both soles of the feet are convexly swollen, and black pock-like sores appear on top, hard as a Ding sore (carbuncle), with marrow flowing from fragmented holes in the tibia, accompanied by chills and tremors of the body, and a strong desire for alcohol, this is named 'Zu Ding Guai Bing' (Strange Disease of Foot Ding). It is formed by the combination of cold and heat toxic vapors from the Liver and Kidney meridians." (From *Qi Xuan*)
*Yi Zong Jin Jian · Xin Fa Yao Jue* states: "Leng Ding" (Cold Ding) occurring on the heel is caused by the coagulation of dampness and cold. It resembles a jujube or millet grain, presenting as purple-white blisters, with pain penetrating to the bone. Gradually, black gas appears, rotting deep holes form, and foul-smelling bloody fluid flows intermittently. For cases that do not heal over time, Shen Deng Zhao (Divine Lamp Illumination Therapy) is suitable. (From *Jin Jian*)
Tie Fen San (Iron Powder Powder) (From *Jin Jian*)
Sheng Tie Fen (Raw Iron Powder, i.e., Zhen Sha/Needle Sand; if unavailable, use 4 liang of Black Lead [He Qian], melt in an iron spoon, pour into water to cool and solidify, repeat melting and pouring until exhausted, drain water and take 3 qian of pure powder), Huang Dan (Lead Monoxide, refined by water flotation), Qing Fen (Calomel), Song Xiang (Pine Rosin) (each 1 qian), She Xiang (Musk) (1 fen)
Grind each into fine powder separately, mix together, and grind again until uniform. Wash the affected area with Cong Tang (Scallion Decoction) to remove bloody fluid and foul odor. Mix with Xiang You (Sesame Oil) and apply to the lesion. Cover with oil paper and tie securely with thread.
