结胎后,以瓦盆一只,盛水半盆,将粗宫碗一只,覆合于水内,碗底上以三寸盆仰放;

Hong Sheng Dan (Red Ascending Cinnabar), also known as San Xian Dan (Three Immortals Cinnabar). It is suitable for various sores and ulcers after ulceration, used to extract toxins, remove necrotic tissue, and promote the growth of new flesh. If the wound edges are hard and the muscle appears dark purple or black, take a small amount of the cinnabar, apply it with a chicken feather brush to the affected area, and it will immediately turn red and vibrant. Without the use of Sheng Jiang Er Dan (Ascension and Reduction Two Cinnabars) in surgery, how can immediate effects be achieved?
Mercurius (Shui Yin, 水银) (2 liang)
Salpetrae Nitrum (Qiang Xiao, 枪硝) (2 liang)
Alumen (Bai Ming Fan, 白明矾) (2 liang)
First, grind the Salpetrae Nitrum and Alumen into powder, place them in an iron pot, make a low depression in the center, pour the Mercurius into the depression, cover it with the ground Salpetrae Nitrum and Alumen, cover with a porcelain bowl, press the rim of the bowl with cotton paper strips, seal firmly with salt mud, press sand around the bowl leaving the bottom exposed, stuff new cotton into the bottom of the bowl, and press with an iron brick. First, use gentle heat for the duration of one incense stick to melt the Salpetrae Nitrum and Alumen; then use strong heat for another incense stick's duration, observing until the cotton inside the bowl turns black; if not black, refine for another half incense stick. Remove and cool, scrape off the resulting cinnabar, store in a porcelain bottle, and use after the fire energy has subsided.
Another formula contains Zao Fan (Vitriol), Xiong Huang (Realgar), and Zhu Sha (Cinnabar) each about 1 liang, named Da Sheng Dan (Great Ascending Cinnabar), which has even greater potency.
Bai Jiang Dan (White Descending Cinnabar). For any carbuncle, furuncle, or nameless severe toxicity, use a small amount each time: for large sores, use 6-7 li; for small ones, use 1-2 li. Mix with water and apply to the top of the sore. For early-stage lesions, blisters will form and dissipate immediately; for suppurated lesions, necrotic tissue will shed immediately, extracting toxins and reducing swelling. It is truly a life-saving golden cinnabar.
Mercurius (Shui Yin, 水银) (1 liang)
Salpetrae Nitrum (Huo Xiao, 火硝) (1 liang)
Alumen (Bai Fan, 白矾) (1 liang)
Arsenici Trioxidum (Bai Pi, 白砒) (5 qian)
Natrii Chloridum (Shi Yan, 食盐) (1 liang)
Azurite (Shi Qing, 石青) (3 qian)
Borax (Peng Sha, 硼砂) (3 qian)
Zao Fan (Vitriol) (1 liang)
Use one Yangcheng jar, place it on mild heat, slowly add the medicines into the jar until completely melted, and use mild heat to drive off moisture until extremely dry. This is the so-called "Yin Ascension" method, which depends entirely on this moment; if the fire is too strong, the mercury will fly away first; if not dry, the medicine will collapse and become useless. The difficulty is thus great.
After the embryo forms, use a clay basin filled halfway with water, invert a coarse palace bowl into the water, and place a 3-cun basin upside down on the bottom of the inverted bowl. Then invert the Yangcheng jar into the basin. Cut good cotton paper into strips about 1 cun wide. Grind the jar, mud from straw shoes, and Guang Fen (Light Powder) into fine powder. Mix with brine juice until very well prepared. Seal tightly around the mouth of the jar. Apply alternating layers of mud and paper, five or six layers in total, and wait for them to dry. Then, take a sauce jar lid, measure the size of the Yangcheng jar, drill a hole in the center, and fit it over the middle of the jar, covering the basin mouth exactly. Secure with three pieces of new tile and tie tightly with iron wire, resembling a flue jar. Insert charcoal, use strong heat for two incense sticks' duration, and the cinnabar will descend into the basin. Extinguish the fire, cool, and open. It is named Bai Xue Dan (White Snow Cinnabar). The efficacy of the descending medicine is miraculous; without knives or needles, effects are seen within one shichen (two hours), far superior to the risks of knife and needle.
Method of applying the above descending medicine: For early-stage carbuncles and furuncles that are hard and not yet suppurated. Mix 1-2 li with water, apply to the top of the sore. Do not apply plaster. After a short while, a blister will rise; pierce it, let the fluid drain, and it will subside naturally.
For those already formed with urgent internal pus pressure, where pressing causes the skin to rebound immediately, the pus is ripe. Mix 1-2 li with water, dot it on the exact top, cover with plaster. Within one shichen, a large amount of pus will discharge naturally, without the need for knives or needles.
If the root of a yin abscess spreads and the sore head is flat and depressed, use 7-8 li or 1 fen of Jiang Dan (Descending Cinnabar), mix with water, and sweep onto the hard part of the sore head. It will turn red and vibrant the next day, which is an auspicious sign.
If internal pus has formed in a sore toxin but has not perforated for a long time, only a small head needs to emerge, fearing it may become too large. Take a piece of cotton paper, measure the size of the sore, cut a hole in the center, wet it, and paste it on the sore. Then mix the descending medicine and dot it into the hole in the paper. Remove the paper and cover with plaster. This prevents the descended head from becoming too large. If the sore is small and the medicine dose is large, it may cause excessive pain, damage the stomach appetite, and harm healthy flesh. This must be known.
When Bai Jiang Dan (White Descending Cinnabar) is applied to a sore toxin, it immediately pursues and erodes the toxic vapors. Depending on the depth, it will pursue to the root of the disease before stopping, hence the severe pain after application. If internal pus is distended and the skin shell is not thick, applying it will not cause extreme pain. Using Chan Su (Toad Venom) liquefied and mixed with Bai Jiang Dan can slightly reduce the pain.
Water-refining method for descending medicine: Take newly refined Bai Jiang Dan, grind finely. Use 5 cun of plain silk, sieve the descending medicine evenly onto the silk, roll tightly, bind securely with hemp thread, place in a clay jar, boil in clear water for about one shichen, changing water three times. Take out the silk roll, hang in a windy place to dry in the shade. Then open, sweep down with a chicken feather, and store in a porcelain bottle. When treating carbuncles and furuncles with it, there is no pain.
