Select high-quality *Shichangpu* (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) as the sovereign drug, *Nangujingcao* (Sparganii Herba) and *Gouqizi* (Lycii Fructus) as the minister drugs, and *Juhua* (Chrysanthemi Flos) as the assistant drug. If there is fire pathogen, add *Xiaoqing* (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, Green Tangerine Peel) as the guide drug; if unavailable, substitute with *Xuanshen* (Scrophulariae Radix). Decoct in water and take after meals, twice daily. Adjust the dosage according to the density of the nebula (cloudy opacity) in the eyes. Avoid iron vessels, as they are feared to damage the Liver. All herbs should be washed with wine to facilitate their ascending action into the eyes. Take internally for five to seven doses. For external use, employ fumigation and washing agents to open the hair pores and orifices.
Take equal parts of *Shichangpu*, *Dijincao* (Euphorbiae Humifusae Herba), and *Juhua*. Decoct to make a soup. First, fumigate the eyes with the hot steam, then wash with the warm liquid. Treat both internally and externally for five to seven days. After the orifices are unblocked, it is appropriate to nourish the essence and blood. The generation of essence and blood relies on Stomach Qi; the Stomach is the source of the five zang organs and six fu organs, and the root of developing the divine mechanism. One must first regulate Stomach Qi, preferably by consuming *Qishi Zhou* (Goji Berry Porridge; see *Mijue*); subsequently, tonify the Liver and Kidney. The Kidney is the root of the pupil, and the Liver is the origin of visual clarity. It is suitable to use the following preparation:
Pork Liver Preserves:
Take one whole pork liver, do not wash with water, and slice it using a bamboo knife.
*Nangujingcao* (2 liang, washed with wine), *Gouqizi* (7 qian, washed with wine),
*Gan Juhua* (1 liang, washed with wine).
If red filaments (blood vessels) are present, add *Heishen* (Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma, though often referring to specific processed forms or potentially *Shenqu* contextually, here likely *Heshouwu* or similar dark-toned herb, strictly translated as Black Ginseng/Herb based on text "Heishen", but standard WHO term for Polygonatum odoratum is *Rhizoma Polygonati Odorati*; however "Heishen" in ophthalmology contexts often refers to *He Shou Wu* or similar. Given the ambiguity and strict extraction, I will use the literal translation or standard equivalent if clear. "Heishen" usually implies *Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma* in some local texts or *Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata*? Actually, in this specific historical text, "Heishen" often refers to *Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma* or sometimes *Shu Di Huang*. Let's stick to the text's implication or generic "Black Herb". However, looking at standard TCM, "Heishen" is not a standard single herb name. It might be a typo for "Heishouwu" or refer to *Shenqu*. Let's assume it refers to a dark-colored tonic herb. For accuracy, I will translate as "Heishen (Black Herb)" or check if it's *Polygonati*. In many old texts, Heishen = *Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma*. I will use *Rhizoma Polygonati Odorati*.) according to the degree of red filaments. If red filaments and nebula do not recede, add 49 grains of genuine *Chuanjiao* (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium), adding them gradually. Combine all medicines in one black porcelain jar, layering medicine and liver, sprinkling *Qiushi* powder (Processed Urine Salt) on the liver. Repeat this three to four times. Add two to three cups of yellow wine, seal tightly to prevent air leakage, and steam over water until cooked. After cooling, remove the herbs and retain only the liver. Eat three to four times a day, and drink the broth. *Qiushi* should be ground into an extremely fine powder (one or two qian); it can also be mixed into the liver before cooking. For elderly or middle-aged individuals with deficiency of both qi and blood, add *Bawu Tang* (Eight-Substance Decoction) to cook together.
For deficiency of both qi and blood, dim vision, inability to recognize roads, accompanied by weak conditions and unrecovered yuan qi, add *Shiquan Dabu Tang* (Ten-Ingredient Great Tonifying Decoction) to cook together.
For those who have been blind for years but can still see lamps, sun, and moon, decoct *Liujun Dihuang Wan* material with *Gouqizi*, *Quandanggui* (Whole Angelica Sinensis Root), *Niuxi* (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), and *Juhua*. After consuming three to five livers, if light is still not perceived, it indicates that qi cannot move blood, or there is blood deficiency and spleen deficiency; add *Shiquan Dabu Tang* to decoct together. For cases of qi obstruction, add *Shichangpu* and *Xiangfumi* (Cyperi Rhizoma, stir-fried with vinegar, 1 liang), and cook together. Do not add for the elderly.
For cases of blood penetration (hemorrhage/congestion), add *Shichangpu*, *Guiwei* (Angelica Sinensis Root Tail), *Chishao* (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), *Honghua* (Carthami Flos), and *Sumu* (Calami Lignum), each 3 qian, and cook together. Do not add for the elderly.
For cases with nebula, add *Chantui* (Cicadae Periostracum), *Muzei* (Equiseti Herba), and *Wuyu Gu* (Sepia Ecria), each 5 qian, and cook together.
When there is nebula in the eye, the eye must be itchy or feel stuffy; do not rub or wipe with hands. It is suitable to use:
