Treats Taiyang disease (Disease of the Taiyang/Bladder channel) for six or seven days, with exterior symptoms remaining, but the pulse is slightly deep and not forming Jie Xiong (Chest Binding syndrome). The patient exhibits mania due to heat in the Lower Jiao (Lower Burner). If the lower abdomen is full and urine flows freely, blood stasis should be purged.
Treats Taiyang disease where the body is yellow, the pulse is deep and choppy, the lower abdomen is hard, urine flows freely, and the patient appears manic; this is a definitive sign of Blood Stasis (Xue Zheng).
Shuizhi (Leech, *Hirudo nipponica*, 30 pieces, processed; salty, bitter, cold)
Machong (Blue bottle fly larva, *Chrysomya megacephala*, 30 pieces, processed, wings and feet removed; bitter, slightly cold)
Taoren (Peach Kernel, *Prunus persica*, 20 pieces, skin and tips removed; bitter, sweet, neutral)
Dahuang (Rhubarb Root, *Rheum palmatum*)
The above four ingredients are boiled in five sheng of water to obtain three sheng. Strain and take one sheng warm. If blood stasis does not pass, administer again.
Cheng Wuji stated: What humans possess primarily is Qi and Blood. Qi belongs to Yang; Yang diseases are easy to treat. Even if Qi is obstructed and fails to circulate, it is relatively easy to disperse. Blood belongs to Yin; Yin diseases are difficult to treat. When blood accumulates... [text fragment implies: accumulation of blood constitutes Blood Stasis].
This refers to Didang Tang modified by reducing Shuizhi (to 10), Machong, and Taoren (each reduced by 5), increasing Dahuang by one liang, pounding into powder, and dividing into four pills. Boil one pill in one sheng of water to obtain seven ge. Take orally. This should result in the passage of blood stasis; if not, administer again. Treats Shanghan (Cold Damage) with fever, lower abdominal fullness. Urine should be difficult, but now it is free; this indicates blood stasis, which must be purged.
This refers to Didang Wan modified by adding Bichong (Ground beetle larva, *Oryctes rhinoceros*), Qicao (Mealworm, *Tenebrio molitor*), Ganqi (Dried Resin of Chinese Sumac, *Rhus chinensis*), Dihuang (Rehmannia Root, *Rehmannia glutinosa*), Shaoyao (Peony Root, *Paeonia lactiflora*), Xingren (Apricot Seed, *Prunus armeniaca*), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root, *Scutellaria baicalensis*), and Gancao (Licorice Root, *Glycyrrhiza uralensis*). Grind into fine powder, refine honey to make pills the size of red beans, and take five pills with wine.
Treats deficiency and emaciation caused by the Five Exhaustions (Wu Lao), abdominal fullness, and inability to eat. Caused by dietary injury, emotional injury, sexual excess, hunger/fatigue, or meridian and Ying-Wei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi) injury, leading to dry blood inside, darkened skin, and requiring gentle supplementation to tonify deficiency.
Use Machong (one qian, feet and wings removed, stir-fried), Shuizhi (one qian, stir-fried), Shexiang (Musk, *Moschus moschiferus*, one qian), and Moyao (Myrrh, *Commiphora myrrha*, three qian), ground into fine powder. Decoct Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) with Guijianyu (Arrow Wood, *Eucommia ulmoides* branch? Note: Text says Gui Jian Yu usually refers to *Eucommia* or *Artemisia*, here likely specific herb) and Honghu (Safflower/Turnip root? Text says Hong Hu Suo, likely *Bignonia capreolata* or similar vine, often translated as Hook Vine or similar) soup to mix and take. Treats blood fainting and blood binding, where blood gathers in the chest, or concentrates in the lower abdomen, or extends to the hypochondrium. After taking, blood passes and pain stops; only decoction is needed.
The syndrome treated is the same as Xiaoxianxiong Tang (Minor Intra-thoracic Phlegm-Heat Decoction).
Jiegeng (Platycodon Root, *Platycodon grandiflorus*, 3 fen; pungent, bitter, slightly warm)
Beimu (Fritillary Bulb, *Fritillaria cirrhosa*, 3 fen; pungent, bitter, neutral)
Badou (Croton Seed, *Croton tiglium*, 1 fen, skin and heart removed, roasted black, pounded to fat-like consistency; pungent, warm)
First, grind the first two ingredients into a powder, add Badou, and pound further in a mortar. Mix with white rice water and administer. Strong individuals take half a qianbi (measure); weak individuals reduce the dose. If the pathology is above the diaphragm, vomiting will occur; if below the diaphragm, turbid, foul-smelling discharge will occur. Long-term expulsion of pus resembling congee indicates Fei Yong (Lung Abscess).
