[Fengzi (Bee Larva)]
The flavor is sweet, and the nature is neutral. It primarily treats Toufeng (Head Wind disease). It eliminates Gu poison (Gu toxin). It tonifies deficiency, emaciation, and middle-jiao injury. Long-term consumption makes one lustrous, with a good complexion and delayed aging.
Da Huang Fengzi (Larva of the large yellow hornet): Primarily treats fullness and pain in the heart and abdomen. It lightens the body and benefits Qi.
Tu Fengzi (Larva of the earth bee): Primarily treats yongzhong (carbuncles and swellings). Also known as Feiling. It grows in mountains and valleys.

Different species have distinct forms; all tails hang with sharp stingers. Some rely on trees, hanging in the void; others hide in deep mud. Toxic fungi emit light at night; dense mulberry bushes conceal shadows. White pupae are crystal clear like silkworm cocoons; gifts are sent to distant lands to express loyalty.
Ouyang Xiu's fu mentions: "Different species have distinct forms." *Piya* records: "The bee's venom is in its tail; the hanging stinger is like a blade." Cao Zhi's fu says: "Not relying on trees above." Tao Hongjing's stele mentions: "Seven times hanging in the void." Su Song states: "The Da Huang Feng builds its nest between large trees." *Piya* records: "Tu Feng likes to build nests with mud." Han Yu's poem writes: "This is the secluded screen." *Youyang Zazu* records: "In Lingnan, toxic fungi glow at night; after rain, they rot and transform into bees." *Shui Jing Zhu* records: "Yan River has mulberry forests, called Congsang River." *Yunji Qiqian*'s "Eight Arts of Hiding on Earth," the first is called "Cangxing Niyin" (Hide Form and Conceal Shadow). *Shi Shu* records: "Pulu carries mulberry insects to raise its young." *Lingbiao Luyi* records: "Bee larvae resemble silkworm pupae; those that are crystal white are salt-fried and dried, sent to the capital Luoyang as local specialties." He Zhizhang's poem writes: "Distant lands harbor loyalty."
[Mifengla (Beeswax)]
The flavor is sweet, and the nature is slightly warm. It primarily treats xiali nongxue (dysentery with pus and blood). It tonifies the Middle Jiao, repairs severe injuries and metallic wounds. It benefits Qi, prevents hunger, and promotes longevity. It grows in mountains and valleys.

Gathered from barren cliffs, white wax wraps around the waist. It sustains hunger with bland food; chewing it yields a taste of solitude. Its utility shames the appearance-enhancing properties of Gardenia; extravagance warns against burning wax like firewood. Where do the Spirit Sparrows come from? They are attracted by the Bee Wax.
Gu Kuang's preface mentions: "Gathering wax is complained of for its extravagance." Among barren rocks, wax covers the body, climbing dangerous slopes with waist ropes. Another poem says: "Gathering gathering is the wax." *Bowuzhi* records: "Eating half a jin of wax can sustain ten days of hunger." Gao Pian's poem writes: "Moderate needs and supplies do not lie in seeking." *Shurangajing* says: "The taste is like chewing wax." Li Shangyin's poem writes: "On red walls, the cliff honey is exhausted in loneliness." Liu Zongyuan's essay says: "Zhiqi Mao, Chayiqi Yan" (Gardenia-like appearance, wax-like words), to seek skills in court. *Jinshu Biography* records: Shi Chong advocated extravagance, using wax instead of firewood. *Bowuzhi* records: In southern mountains, leftover wax remains on stones; flocks of birds come and peck it all away. This bird is named Lingque, and people call it Misai.
