The *Suwen: Gu Kong Lun* states: The Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel) originates at the Qichuan (Stomach 30, though text says "Qi Street" generally referring to Stomach 30 or general area), runs parallel with the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, flanks the navel, ascends to the chest, and then disperses. The *Ling shu: Wei Qi Pian* states: Let me speak of the Qi Streets. There is a Qi Street in the chest, a Qi Street in the abdomen, a Qi Street in the head, and a Qi Street in the lower legs. Therefore, when Qi is in the head, it stops at the brain; when Qi is in the chest, it stops at the anterior chest (Ying) and back; when Qi is in the abdomen, it stops at the back and the pulsating arteries of the Chong Mai on either side of the navel; when Qi is in the lower legs, it stops at the Qichuan (Stomach 30) and Chengshan (Bladder 57) and above the ankle.
The *Ling shu: Jing Mai Bie Pian* states: The Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian ascends to the diaphragm, branches off to run into the Taiyang Meridian and joins it, ascends to the kidney, exits at the level of the fourteenth thoracic vertebra, and attaches to the Dai Mai (Girdle Vessel). The *Nan jing: Chapter 28* states: The Dai Mai (Girdle Vowel) originates from the hypochondrium and encircles the body once.
The *Ling shu: Mai Du Pian* states: The Qiao Mai (Heel Vessels) are branches of the Foot-Shaoyin. They originate behind the Ran Gu (Kidney 2) point, ascend above the medial malleolus, go straight up along the medial thigh, enter the yin region, ascend through the interior of the chest, enter the Que Pen (Large Chest) acupoint, emerge before the Ying Chang (Stomach 9) acupoint, enter the inner canthus of the eye, join with the Taiyang Qiao Mai, and ascend. When the Qi of both vessels runs together and returns to each other, it moistens the eyes. If the eye Qi fails to nourish, the eyes cannot close. The *Nan jing: Chapter 28* states: The Yang Qiao Mai originates in the middle of the heel, follows the lateral malleolus upward, and enters the Feng Chi (Gallbladder 20) acupoint.
The *Nan jing* states: The Yin Wei Mai (Linking Vessel) and Yang Wei Mai (Linking Vessel) link and network the body. When they overflow and accumulate, they cannot circulate and irrigate all the meridians. Thus, the Yang Wei Mai originates at the meeting point of all Yang meridians, and the Yin Wei Mai originates at the intersection of all Yin meridians.
The Yin Wei Mai originates from the Foot-Shaoyin Meridian above the medial malleolus, passes through the Zhu Bin (Kidney 9) acupoint, follows the abdomen to the breast, knots at the throat, reaches the Lian Quan (Ren Mai 23) acupoint, links all Yin meridians, and meets the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel).
The collaterals encompass the fourteen main meridians of the body, comprising six pairs of exterior-interior relationships. The Du Mai (Governor Vessel) and Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) govern Yin and Yang. The Hand and Foot Three-Yang meridians constitute the Six Yangs; the Du Mai commands all Yang, and the Ren Mai commands all Yin. All Yang meridians run on the exterior/lateral aspects, and all Yin meridians run on the interior/medial aspects. This applies to the limbs, abdomen, and back. The Du Mai passes through the spine and over the Yin Jiao (Du Mai 28) acupoint. The Ren Mai begins in the center of the lower abdomen. The Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian enters from the heel beside the little toe, meets at the side of the sacrum, ascends flanking the spine, dividing into four lines, with the anterior line connecting to the Jing Ming (Bladder 1) acupoint; this is the longest meridian. The Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian starts before the tip of the fourth toe, at the Yang Guan (Gallbladder 29) outside the lateral malleolus, at Huan Tiao (Gallbladder 30), penetrates the shoulder from the hypochondrium, travels to Qu Bin (Gallbladder 14), in front of and behind the ear, connecting to the tailbone region. The Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian passes through San Li (Stomach 36), Tian Shu (Stomach 25), penetrates the breast, runs along the third line of the abdomen, connects to the upper teeth, surrounds the lips, flanks the nose, and meets at Ying Xiang (Large Intestine 20) near the zygomatic bone. The Foot Three-Yin meridians connect internally: Taiyin, Jueyin, Shaoyin. Taiyin is posterior, Shaoyin is anterior. The Kidney Meridian emerges from the sole of the foot, flanks the Ren Mai above the medial malleolus to Lian Quan. The Taiyin and Jueyin meridians are located on the medial and lateral sides of the big toe, respectively, and do not directly connect. The Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian is on the medial side, with Chong Men (Spleen 12) being four lines away from the abdomen, arranged in sequence. The Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian is at the pubic hair region, follows the genitalia, slants to Qi Men (Liver 14) between the ribs and breast. Among the Hand Three-Yang meridians, which is superior? The Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian passes through the index finger, goes to the shoulder, drills into the cheek and lower gum, meets at Ying Xiang (Large Intestine 20) beside the nostril. The Hand-Sanjiao (Triple Energizer) Meridian is after the Yangming Meridian at the ring finger, wraps around the body, approaches the Taiyang Meridian at the end of the eyebrow, descends from the little finger, loops behind the low shoulder, and meets at the ear and zygomatic region. There are also Three-Yin meridians running on the inner arm: Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian at the thumb, paired with Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Meridian at the shoulder front; Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Meridian at the middle finger, connecting from the axilla to Ji Quan (Pericardium 1) in the chest; Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian position. All Hand and Foot Yang meridians ascend to the head, while Yin meridian acupoints stop at the chest and breast. Only the Jueyin Meridian ascends from the pharynx to the vertex, meets the Du Mai, and flows down the Ren Mai. Meridians always run straight; collaterals branch from their own source to link other meridians. There are fourteen meridians and sixteen collaterals in total. Please remember them in order clearly.
