Chest fullness or hypochondriac distension indicates the suitability of blood-invigorating methods. For the elderly and weak, qi-moving and blood-invigorating methods are suitable, along with drinking child's urine (Tongbian) and wine. Abdominal pain indicates the suitability of blood-purging methods. If excessive blood loss is accompanied by restlessness, blood-nourishing methods should be used; for example, if Dushen Tang (Single Ginseng Decoction) is not applicable. When necrotic tissue does not slough off, or fails to heal after ulceration, substantial tonification of qi and blood is indicated.
A male patient suffered a beating injury where the bruised tissue did not putrefy. It gradually putrefied after administration of substantial tonifying formulas, and subsequently healed using formulas that support the interior and strengthen the spleen.
A male patient fell from a horse and experienced pain in both hypochondria. After two doses of Fuyuan Huoxue Tang (Revitalize Blood Decoction), the pain ceased immediately. Subsequently, Xiao Chaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) was administered with added Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) and Taoren (Persicae Semen), leading to stabilization after two doses.
A male patient fell from a horse and experienced abdominal pain. He was treated with Tao Ren Cheng Qi Tang (Peach Kernel Order the Colon Decoction) augmented with Sumu (Sappan Wood) and Honghua (Carthami Flos) to purge the bowels, resulting in immediate recovery. He was then treated with Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) augmented with Tianhuafen (Trichosanthis Radix) and Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), recovering after two doses.
A male patient injured his arm and suffered excessive bleeding. Subsequent purgative treatment led to persistent irritability and heat, and the bruised tissue failed to putrefy. Shengyu Tang (Holy to Save Life Decoction) was administered for four doses, bringing slight relief. Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction)... [Text breaks here]
This condition requires differentiation based on severity, presence of blood stasis, and the deficiency or excess of yuan qi (primordial qi). One must not indiscriminately use purgatives, as this may damage qi and blood, making it difficult for the wound to ulcerate and heal. Typically, treatment begins with drinking child's urine mixed with wine, or adding Honghua (Carthami Flos) and Sumu (Sappan Wood), which yields rapid results. Indiscriminate use of purgative formulas rarely avoids error. The speed of wound healing depends on the deficiency or excess of qi and blood.
An elderly patient fell from a horse and experienced abdominal pain. Fuyuan Tongqi San (Revitalize Qi Powder) was administered, mixed with child's urine. After two doses, there was slight improvement. Subsequently, Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) with added Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Taoren (Persicae Semen), and Honghua (Carthami Flos) stabilized the condition after four doses.
A male patient had wind pathogens invading a beating injury, resulting in trismus (lockjaw). Yuzhen San (Jade True Powder) was administered; slight improvement occurred after one dose, and stability was achieved after the second dose.
A male patient fell but the skin remained intact. He experienced distension in both hypochondria, fever, dry mouth, and spontaneous sweating, resembling wind patterns. He was instructed to first drink a bowl of child's urine, which immediately relieved irritability and thirst... [Text breaks here]
The primary principle is that evil blood (stagnant blood) inevitably returns to the Liver. Regardless of which meridian is injured, the blood stagnates in the hypochondriac region because the Liver governs blood. Severe pain often leads to spontaneous sweating. Although sweating is generally associated with wind patterns, all pains belong to Liver wood. Moreover,败血 (defeated/stagnant blood) stagnates and enters the Liver according to its affinity. Falling from a height disrupts the flow of qi and blood; thus, the Liver is implicated. Treatment involves herbs that break blood stasis and unblock meridians.
A male patient was bitten by a dog, experiencing severe pain and nausea. He was instructed to urgently suck out the toxic blood, followed by moxibustion through garlic at the injury site. After several moxa cones, the pain ceased. Taiyi Gao (Great Unity Plaster) was applied, and he recovered after taking Yuzhen San (Jade True Powder).
A male patient presented with cyanosis and pain. A paste of Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus) powder mixed with Luobo juice (Radish Juice) was applied externally. Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) was administered with added Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Tianhuafen (Trichosanthis Radix), and Chuanshanjia (Manis Squama). Slight improvement occurred after two doses. Tuoli San (Support Interior Powder) was then administered with added Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), and Honghua (Carthami Flos). After several doses, suppuration occurred. Finally, Tuoli (Support Interior) and spleen-strengthening formulas led to recovery.
A male patient was bitten by a mad dog, presenting with trismus and unconsciousness. The injury site was needled urgently to release toxic blood, followed by moxibustion through garlic. After a long period, he regained consciousness. Taiyi Gao (Great Unity Plaster)... [Text breaks here] oral decoctions were administered.
The *Zhenjiu Jing* (Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion) states: Waqiu (GB36) treats rabies, specifically injuries from mad dogs causing chills and fever. Quick moxibustion of three cones at this point, followed by moxibustion at the injury site, leads to immediate recovery.
In late spring and early summer, regarding rabies... [Text breaks here] moxibustion of one cone should be performed after a certain number of days, continuing for one hundred days. Alcohol is forbidden for seven days. The herb is crushed, juiced, and one to two cups are drunk.
Another method for treating rabies bites involves sucking out the evil blood and performing one hundred moxa cones, which is highly effective.
To treat a snake entering the seven orifices, urgently apply moxibustion to the snake's tail. Another method involves cutting the snake's tail, placing seven grains of Huajiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium) inside, causing the snake to exit spontaneously. Then, Xionghuang (Realgar) and Zhusha (Cinnabar)... [Text breaks here]
For another prescription, use a single-clove garlic slice placed on the injury site, with moxibustion applied over the garlic. Change the garlic slice every three moxa cones. Extensive moxibustion is advisable.
