之。若寒入肾宫,上侵心,下侵腹,其证必恶心、腹痛,手足厥逆,此较上证更为难治。盖肾之真水,心借以养;

During the month preceding delivery, if one suddenly contracts wind-pathogen in the Shaoyin (Lesser Yin) channel, presenting with aversion to cold, curling up in bed, and cold extremities, it is considered incurable. This is because the Shaoyin Kidney meridian prefers warmth and dislikes cold; now that wind-cold has invaded, the Fire of the Gate of Vitality (Mingmen) declines, and the uterine palace is filled with cold qi. Consequently, the uterus becomes cold, and combined with cold extremities, this indicates extreme cold in the Spleen and Stomach, leading inevitably to death. Fortunately, if the fetus has not yet been expelled, one should urgently administer Sanhan Jiutai Decoction (Cold-Dispersing Fetus-Saving Decoction) to warm the body. If cold invades the uterine palace, moving upward to invade the Heart and downward to affect the abdomen, symptoms will necessarily include nausea, abdominal pain, and cold reversal of the extremities. This condition is more difficult to treat than the aforementioned syndrome. The True Water (True Yin) of the Kidney is borrowed by the Heart for nourishment; however, if the Evil Water (Pathogenic Water) of the Kidney reaches the Heart, the Heart suffers destruction. Now, the Kidney has contracted cold pathogen, carrying Kidney water upward to overwhelm the Heart; thus, the heart and abdomen both ache, and the extremities become simultaneously cold and reversed. The situation is extremely urgent and critical, requiring the expulsion of the Shaoyin pathogen; Hu yang Jiuchan Decoction (Yang-Recovering Childbirth-Saving Decoction) is appropriate. Zhang Zhongjing stated: "In pregnancy near term, if Shaoyin syndrome suddenly appears, one should urgently use a Shen-Zhu preparation (decoction containing Ginseng and Atractylodes) to warm the body; if ineffective, death ensues." In my opinion, using only Ginseng and Atractylodes for this syndrome is not entirely sufficient. If the Shen-Zhu preparation proves ineffective, one should urgently add Cinnamon Twig, Prepared Aconite Root, and Fried Ginger Root, and there will be no failure. I have now established a formula named Quansheng Jiunan Decoction (Life-Preserving Disaster-Averting Decoction). For all cases contracting Shaoyin wind-pathogen, taking this formula yields efficacy.
Hu yang Jiuchan Decoction (Yang-Recovering Childbirth-Saving Decoction)
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (washed in wine, each 1 liang), Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) (stir-fried), Zhi Gan Cao (Honey-fried Licorice Radix et Rhizoma) (each 1 qian), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (prepared with honey until yellow).
Add two zhong of water, decoct until seven-tenths remain, and take orally.
Quansheng Jiunan Decoction (Life-Preserving Disaster-Averting Decoction)
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (honey-fried until yellow, each 1 liang), Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) (processed, 1 qian), Zhi Gan Cao (Honey-fried Licorice Radix et Rhizoma) (0.5 qian).
Add two zhong of water, decoct until seven-tenths remain, and take orally after the liquid has cooled slightly. If ineffective, add Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex) and Pao Gan Jiang (Processed Zingiberis Rhizoma) (each 1 qian).
If during pregnancy the jaw becomes tightly closed, phlegm and qi are congested and full, and consciousness is lost, this is caused by excessive consumption of raw and cold foods combined with sitting or lying exposed to wind. Pai Feng Yin (Wind-Expelling Drink) is appropriate.

Decoct in water and take orally.
