When a maiden’s menstruation first begins, if she neglects self-care, mistakenly drinks cold water, or uses cold water to wash clothes and hands, the menstrual blood coagulates due to cold, resulting in amenorrhea. Her complexion appears greenish-yellow, and generalized edema occurs throughout the body. People often misdiagnose this as edema disease, and treatments prove ineffective. It is appropriate to administer Tongjing Wan (Unblocking Menses Pill) to unblock the blood vessels, after which the edema will naturally subside.
