When an infant is first born, the entire body is covered with blisters resembling fish bubbles, looking like crystal; when broken, they release fluid. *Miduoseng* (Lead Monoxide) can be ground into powder and applied to the affected area.
When an infant is first born, both feet have toes completely curved backward. This occurs because the wet nurse suffered from sores on her feet during pregnancy, preventing her from walking, forcing her to sit cross-legged daily. The fetus in the womb shares vital energy (*Qi*) with the mother, and its form transforms according to the mother's physiological changes, hence presenting similarly. It is appropriate to wrap a stick in soft cotton and bind it behind the infant's knees. Additionally, decoct a *Mugua* (Chaenomeles Speciosa) soup for frequent washing and hot compresses. Over time, as the tendons lengthen and relax, the legs will naturally straighten.
If an infant does not cry upon birth, it may be due to a membrane blocking the anus, preventing sound emission. Urgently puncture this blockage with the tip of a silver hairpin to create a hole, insert a wick made of oiled paper to keep the opening patent, and the infant will be able to vocalize and cry normally.
If an infant is born without crying, refuses to suckle, and appears lifeless with faint breathing, urgently examine the anterior hard palate for blisters resembling pomegranate seeds, known as *Xuan Yong* (Hanging Abscess). Break the blister with a finger to induce bleeding, ensuring the blood is not swallowed. Immediately wipe away the stagnant blood with silk. Then, apply ash from burnt human hair (preserving its medicinal nature) to the site. This will restore voice and sucking ability. If the stagnant blood enters the throat, death is inevitable.
Within seven days of birth, if an infant has a red face, rapid breathing, cannot cry, and refuses milk, this condition is named *Ma Ya* (Horse Teeth). Urgently inspect the gums for millet-sized blisters. Puncture them with a silver needle to bleed. Filter and apply clear sap from a mulberry tree to the area for cure. Alternatively, grind ink using mint juice, wrap a finger in green silk, dip it in the ink, and rub the broken blisters. Withhold milk for about one hour, and the condition will resolve.
Within the first hundred days of life, if an infant develops numerous white spots in the mouth that reappear shortly after wiping, accompanied by drooling, constant crying, and refusal to feed, this is caused by fetal heat (*Tai Re*). Decoct equal parts of *Gancao* (Licorice Root) and *Huanglian* (Coptis Rhizome). Use cloth-wrapped fingers to wipe away stagnant blood, then apply the white sap from inside a mulberry tree. Alternatively, apply the distillate from burning white poplar branches for immediate relief. Subsequently, administer *Chensha Yiyuan San* (Cinnabar Yi Yuan Powder) mixed with water infused with *Dengxin Cao* (Juncus Effusus), which prevents recurrence.
White blisters on the gums are called *Ma Ya*; fleshy growths in the mouth that swell high like mushrooms are called *Ru Xun*. Both conditions prevent feeding. Urgently use silk-wrapped fingers to break the lesions and induce bleeding, then clean thoroughly. For mild cases, apply Jingmo (Beijing Ink). For severe cases, grind three fried *Jiangcan* (Bombyx Batryticatus), four fen of *Renzhongbai* (Calcined Human Excrement), and a small amount of *Bingpian* (Borneol) into powder and apply to the area. After half an hour, wash with tea using silk before reapplying. Do this three to four times daily for a cure. If unresolved, add three fen each of *Pengsha* (Borax), *Xuejie* (Dragon's Blood), and *Qingdai* (Indigo Naturalis), 1.5 fen of *Ercha* (Child's Tea), and 1 fen of *Yaozhu*, grind all into fine powder, mix with the previous formula, and wash/rub three to four times daily. All cases will heal. (Another prescription involves baking *Machixian* (Portulaca Oleracea) root on tiles, adding a little *Xionghuang* (Realgar), grinding into powder, and administering orally.)
