Before delivery, engaging in sexual intercourse, or having sexual intercourse carelessly within half a month after delivery, as well as constituting deficiency of Middle Qi (Middle Jiao Qi) unable to control blood, all lead to the syndrome of Bing (sudden heavy uterine bleeding). If accompanied by profuse sweating, shortness of breath, emaciation, and a pulse that is faint and nearly imperceptible, this is a critical condition. Eight or nine out of ten cases result in death; urgently administer Du Shen Tang (Ginseng Decoction), and if Qi recovers, it may be treatable.
Ingredients: Liao Ren Shen (Liaoning Ginseng), Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis), Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Root), Chao Bai Zhu (Stir-fried Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome - *Note: Original text 'Chao Zhun Yao' likely refers to Bai Zhu*), Zheng Yu Rou (Steamed Cornus Officinalis Fruit), Zhi Bai Zhu (Processed Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), Huang Qi (Astragalus Membranaceus), Fu Zi (Prepared Aconite Caralis), Sheng Zao Ren (Raw Sour Jujube Seed), Zhi Gan Cao (Honey-fried Licorice Root).
In women, due to falls, bruises, or sprains, evil blood flows downward, resembling Bing (sudden heavy uterine bleeding). However, there is abdominal pain with tenderness upon pressure. Over time, the face becomes sallow and the body emaciated. Treatment should focus on eliminating stasis. Master Fu uses Zhu Yu Zhi Xue Tang (Remove Stasis and Stop Bleeding Decoction).
Master Fu's Zhu Yu Zhi Xue Tang Ingredients: Jiu Chao Sheng Di Huang (Wine-stir-fried Rehmannia Root), Da Huang (Rhubarb Radix et Rhizoma), Gui Wei (End of Angelica Sinensis Root), Cu Zhi Gui Ban (Vinegar-processed Tortoise Carapace), Chao Tao Ren Ni (Stir-fried Peach Kernel Paste), Chi Shao (Red Peony Root), Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex), Chao Zhi Qiao (Stir-fried Aurantium Fructus).
For any case of hematemesis (vomiting blood) or spitting blood caused by traumatic injury, treatment should follow this method. For hematemesis, where blood accumulates in the Stomach, add Hou Po (Magnolia Bark). In this syndrome, initially there are clots and pain; later, when clots disappear and pain ceases, the blood discharged is bright red but not purple. This is because trauma caused blood to leave its vessels, so it should be treated as Bing (sudden heavy uterine bleeding). Or, if one was about to experience Bing, and a minor trauma caused violent discharge due to shock, it is also discussed as Bing. The distinction lies in the color of the blood and the sensation of pain.
During pregnancy, without symptoms of abdominal pain or fetal movement, but with intermittent vaginal bleeding, it is called Tai Lou (Fetal Leakage). This is due to Blood Heat and Qi failing to contain the blood. If it is not due to Qi deficiency failing to contain, it will surely stagnate for a long time and lead to severe Bing (sudden heavy uterine bleeding). Recording Master Fu's original formula below:
Lu Dang Shen (Luzhou Codonopsis Root), Jiu Chao Sheng Di Tan (Wine-stir-fried Charred Rehmannia Root), Hang Shao Tan (Charred White Peony Root from Hangzhou), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Chuan Duan Rou (Dipsacus Asperoides Root), Jiu Chao Huang Qin Tan (Wine-stir-fried Charred Scutellaria Root), Yi Mu Cao (Leonurus Japonicus Herb).
In women, urinary bleeding occurs, sometimes with clear urine (Commentary: Sometimes clear without blood, thus knowing it does not solely belong to Liver Heat. The person is prone to irritability, anger, restlessness, dryness, and thirst, with a soggy and rapid pulse. Administer Long Dan Xie Gan Tang (Gentian Liver-draining Decoction). If ineffective, treat as Blood Loss syndrome, using tonification and harmonization to guide blood back to its vessels.
Ingredients: Long Dan Cao (Gentiana Scabra Root), Zhi Zi (Gardenia Fruit), Sheng Di Huang (Rehmannia Root), Jie Sui (Notopterygium Rhizome or Schizonepeta Spike - *Context suggests Schizonepeta for stopping bleeding*, Stir-fried Black), Mu Xiang (Aucklandia Root), Mu Tong (Akebia Stem), Ze Xie (Alisma Rhizome), Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis), Bai Shao (White Peony Root, Vinegar-processed), Zhi Cao (Honey-fried Licorice).
Women whose menstruation usually arrives on time suddenly experience heavy bleeding several days before or after their period, with bright red blood. This is also blood leaving its vessels, belonging to the category of Bing (sudden heavy uterine bleeding). (Commentary: This belongs to Blood Loss, different from menstrual blood flowing sideways into the Large Intestine. Menstrual blood flowing sideways is habitual, and people do not feel greatly exhausted.) After bleeding, the person will be extremely fatigued, possibly even experiencing shortness of breath. Here is a general method prepared.
Ingredients: Zhi Dang Gui (Honey-fried Angelica Sinensis), Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Chi Shi Zhi (Red Halloysite), Su Ke (Poppy Shell), Sheng Lu Dang Shen (Raw Luzhou Codonopsis Root), Bai Shao (White Peony Root), Jie Sui (Schizonepeta Spike), Di Yu Tan (Charred Sanguisorba Root), Hong Qu (Red Yeast Rice).
For those with shortness of breath, separately take Liao Ren Shen (Liaoning Ginseng); for rebellious Liver Qi, add Mu Li (Oyster Shell); for abdominal pain, add Yan Hu Suo (Corydalis Rhizome).
