\r肠图\pt13a68.bmp\r

\r胃图\pt13a71.bmp\r
\r脾图\pt13a72.bmp\r

\r心图\pt13a75.bmp\r
\r小肠图\pt13a76.bmp\r

\r膀胱图\pt13a79.bmp\r
\r肾图\pt13a80.bmp\r

\r手厥阴心包络经图\pt13a82.bmp\r

\r心胞络图\pt13a83.bmp\r
\r三焦图\pt13a84.bmp\r

The Lung meridian corresponds to the Yin hour (03:00-05:00), the Large Intestine meridian to the Mao hour (05:00-07:00), the Stomach meridian to the Chen hour (07:00-09:00), the Spleen meridian to the Si hour (09:00-11:00), the Heart meridian to the Wu hour (11:00-13:00), and the Small Intestine meridian to the Wei hour (13:00-15:00). The Bladder meridian corresponds to the Shen hour (15:00-17:00), the Kidney meridian to the You hour (17:00-19:00), the Pericardium meridian to the Xu hour (19:00-21:00), the Sanjiao (Triple Burner) meridian to the Hai hour (21:00-23:00), the Gallbladder meridian to the Zi hour (23:00-01:00), and the Liver meridian to the Chou hour (01:00-03:00).
This song originates from texts such as *Ziwu Liuzhu* (Midnight-Noon Ebb-Flow) and annotations by Zhang Shixian et al. It assigns the twelve two-hour periods to the twelve meridians, which seems plausible; however, the lengths of the meridians and the number of acupoints vary greatly, so how can they be distributed evenly by time? Moreover, this contradicts the principle of "fifty circuits" (Qi and Blood circulating fifty times through the body). It is recorded here for future correction and discussion.

The Lung is the Official of the Prime Minister, governing regulation. Its shape hangs down on four sides, attached to the third thoracic vertebra of the spine. It contains twenty-four hollows arranged in rows to distribute Qi to all organs. It is the chief of the Zang organs and the cover of the Heart. This meridian has abundant Qi and scarce Blood. Its exterior is the skin, its luster is in the hair, and it opens into the nose. The *Nan Jing* states: The Lung weighs three jin and three liang, has six leaves and two ears, totaling eight leaves, and houses the Po (Corporeal Soul). Hua Yuanhua said: The Lung is the source of vital Qi and the canopy of the five Zang organs. The lung lobes are white and translucent, called the Canopy because they cover the other organs. They are hollow like a bee hive, with no openings at the bottom. Inhalation fills them, exhalation empties them. Each breath occurs naturally, managing the transformation of clear and turbid Qi, serving as the bellows of the human body.
[Image Placeholder] Large Intestine Organ Map
The Large Intestine is the Official of Transmission, responsible for transformation. The Hui Chang (coiled intestine) loops around the left side of the umbilicus sixteen times, is four cun wide, has a diameter of one cun and one-third cun, and is two zhang and one chi long. It holds one dou of grain and seven sheng and a half of water. The Guang Chang (broad intestine) transmits along the spine to receive the Hui Chang; it is the pathway for waste. It is eight cun wide, has a diameter of two cun and two-thirds cun, and is two chi eight cun long. It holds nine sheng, three he, and one-eighth he of grain. This meridian has abundant Qi and abundant Blood. The *Nan Jing* states: The Large Intestine weighs two jin and twelve liang, and the anus weighs twelve liang. Regarding the Hui Chang, it is named so because it coils. The Guang Chang is the larger part of the Hui Chang. The Zhi Chang (straight intestine) is the terminal section of the Guang Chang. It connects downward to the anus, known as the Valley Gate posterior opening, also called the Po Men. Collectively, they constitute the Large Intestine. The upper orifice of the Large Intestine is the lower orifice of the Small Intestine.

The upper orifice of the Stomach is called the Ben Men. The essence of food and drink is transported upward from here to the Spleen and Lung and disseminated through the vessels. The lower orifice of the Stomach is the upper orifice of the Small Intestine, called the You Men.
The Spleen and Stomach are the Officials of the Granary, where the Five Flavors originate. The Stomach is the Sea of Water and Grain and Qi and Blood. The Stomach is one chi five cun wide, five cun in diameter, and two chi six cun long. It curves horizontally to hold three dou and five sheng of water and grain. Typically, it retains two dou of grain and one dou and five sheng of water when full. This meridian has abundant Qi and abundant Blood. The *Nan Jing* states: The Stomach weighs two jin and one liang.
[Image Placeholder] Spleen Organ Map
The *Yi Pian Ci Fa Lun* states: The Spleen is the Official of Remonstrance, where comprehensive knowledge arises.
The Spleen is the Official of the Granary, where the Five Flavors originate. Its shape is like a sickle. It shares a membrane with the Stomach and attaches to its upper left side. Its Shu point is below the eleventh vertebra. It moves upon hearing sound, rubbing the Stomach to govern transportation and transformation. Its exterior is the flesh, its luster is in the lips, and it opens into the mouth. This meridian has abundant Qi and scarce Blood. The *Nan Jing* states: The Spleen weighs two jin and three liang, is broad and flat three cun, five cun long, and has half a jin of loose pancreas. It wraps blood, warms the five Zang organs, and houses Yi (Intellect) and Zhi (Will). Shi Shi said: It covers the Tai Cang (Stomach). Hua Yuanhua said: The Spleen digests the five grains and nourishes the four extremities.

The Heart is the Sovereign Monarch, from whom Spirit emerges. The Heart resides below the pulmonary duct, above the diaphragm, and attaches to the fifth thoracic vertebra. This meridian has scarce Blood and abundant Qi. Its exterior is the vessels, its luster is in the complexion, and it opens into the ear, also said to open into the tongue. The *Nan Jing* states: The Heart weighs twelve liang, has seven holes and three hairs, holds three he of essence fluid, and houses Shen (Spirit). The Heart is pointed and round, shaped like a lotus stamen. It has holes inside, varying in number, to guide Heavenly True Qi. It has no openings at the bottom and connects to the tongue at the top. There are four ties connecting it to the four Zang organs. Outside the Heart is a layer of red-yellow fat, which is the Pericardium. Below the Heart is the diaphragm, connected around the spine and ribs, shielding turbid Qi so it cannot ascend to smoke the Heart and Lungs. This is what is called the Dan Zhong.
[Image Placeholder] Small Intestine Organ Map
The Small Intestine is the Official of Reception, from whom transformation arises. The Small Intestine attaches posteriorly to the spine and anteriorly to the upper umbilicus. It loops leftward sixteen times, is two cun and a half wide, has a diameter of eight fen and one-third fen, and is three zhang and two chi long. It holds two dou and four sheng of grain and six sheng and three he and more than half he of water. The upper orifice of the Small Intestine is two cun above the umbilicus near the spine, where water and grain enter. One cun below, it attaches externally to the umbilicus at the Shuifen acupoint, which corresponds to the lower orifice of the Small Intestine. Here, clear and turbid are separated. Fluids seep into the Bladder, while dregs flow into the Large Intestine. This meridian has abundant Blood and scarce Qi. The *Nan Jing* states: The Small Intestine weighs two jin and fourteen liang.

The Bladder is the Official of the Capital, storing fluids. Transformation allows them to exit. The Bladder is at the nineteenth vertebra, below the Kidney and anterior to the Large Intestine. It has a lower orifice but no upper orifice. At the Shuifen acupoint, one cun above the umbilicus, is the lower orifice of the Small Intestine and the upper limit of the Bladder. Fluids separate from the Hui Chang here, entering via Qi transformation. If incoming Qi does not transform, water returns to the Large Intestine causing diarrhea. If outgoing Qi does not transform, the lower orifices close causing retention and swelling. Later texts claiming it has an upper orifice but no lower, or both, are incorrect. This meridian has abundant Blood and scarce Qi. The *Nan Jing* states: The Bladder weighs nine liang and two zhu, is nine cun long and wide, holds nine sheng and nine he of urine, and the orifice is two cun and a half wide.

The Kidney is the Official of Strength, from whom skill and ingenuity arise. The Kidney attaches below the fourteenth thoracic vertebra. This meridian has scarce Blood and abundant Qi. Its exterior is the bone, its luster is in the hair, and it opens into the two yin orifices. The *Nan Jing* states: There are two Kidneys, weighing one jin and two liang, housing Jing (Essence) and Zhi (Will). Hua Yuanhua said: The Kidney is the residence of Spirit and the root of life. There are two Kidneys: shaped like kidney beans, joined and curved attaching to both sides of the spine, each one and a half cun apart. They are wrapped in yellow fat externally and have two belts. The upper belt ties to the Heart, the lower belt trends to the large bone below the spine. At the end of the spinal bone, about half a hand's length, there are two acupoints where the Kidney Belt passes. It ascends through the spinal cord to the brain, connecting to the Marrow Sea.

Regarding the Pericardium organ, the *Nan Jing* says it is formless. Bo Ren Hua said: The Pericardium is also called Hand Xin Zhu. Comparing with Zang-Xiang theory, above the horizontal membrane below the Heart and below the vertical membrane, the part adhering to the horizontal membrane and wrapped in yellow fat is the Heart; outside the fat spread, fine fascia like threads connecting to the Heart and Lung is the Pericardium. This view is correct; those saying it is formless are wrong. Also, checking the *Ling Lan Mi Dian Lun*, there are Twelve Officials, missing only the Pericardium, but adding the Dan Zhong as the Official of the Attendant, from whom joy arises. Now examining, the Pericardium resides above the diaphragm, its meridian starts in the chest, exactly at the location of the Dan Zhong. It occupies the position of Ministerial Fire, acting on behalf of the Sovereign, truly serving as an attendant. Is this official referring to this meridian?

The Sanjiao (Triple Burner) is the Official of Ditches, from whom waterways arise. The later appendix mentions the Sanjiao Pericardium arising from here. This meridian has scarce Blood and abundant Qi. Refer to the *Ming Men Bian* for cross-reference. The *Zhong Zang Jing* states: The Sanjiao is the Primordial Qi of humans. It leads the Qi of the Five Zang and Six Fu, Ying and Wei, meridians, interior and exterior, left and right, upper and lower. When the Sanjiao is unblocked, the interior, exterior, left, right, upper, and lower are all unblocked. In irrigating the body, harmonizing the interior and regulating the exterior, nourishing the left and supporting the right, guiding the upper and venting the lower, nothing is greater than this.
