Fuai (Abdominal Grief) [Acupoint] (from *Jia Yi Jing*): Located 1.5 cun below Riyue (Sun and Moon) [Acupoint]. (from *Jia Yi Jing*) Moxibustion and acupuncture are contraindicated. (from *Ru Men*)
Note: *Ru Men* records it as 1 cun below Riyue, which is incorrect. See the entry for Qimen for details.
Daheng (Great Transverse) [Acupoint] (from *Jia Yi Jing*): Also known as Shenqi (Kidney Qi) [Acupoint]. (from *Yi Gang*) Located 3 cun below Fuai, directly lateral to the umbilicus. (from *Jia Yi Jing*)
Note: *Qian Jin Fang* records it as 2 cun; *Zi Sheng Pian*, *Sheng Ji Zong Lu*, *Fa Hui*, *Lei Jing*, *Ju Ying*, *Yi Tong*, and Wu Wenbing record it as 3.5 cun; *Bao Jian* records it as 1.6 cun. All these are incorrect. See above for details. Regarding Shenqi [Acupoint], *Yi Xue Gang Mu* quotes Bian Que saying: "Four cun lateral to the umbilicus on each side," treating Hong Kong foot (foot qi disease), referring to this acupoint. However, its alias has been moved here in current texts. *Qian Jin Fang · Bladder Chapter* states: "Two and a half cun lateral to the umbilicus on both sides," which is also incorrect.
Fuqu (Abdominal Flexion) [Acupoint] (from *Jia Yi Jing*): Also known as Fujie (Abdominal Knot) [Acupoint]. (from *Jia Yi Jing*) Also known as Changjie (Intestinal Knot) [Acupoint]. (from *Qian Yi*) Also known as Changku (Intestinal Cave) [Acupoint]. (from *Wai Tai Mi Yao*) Also known as Yangku (Yang Cave) [Acupoint]. (from *Ju Ying*, Wu Wenbing.) Located 1.3 cun below Daheng. (from *Jia Yi Jing*)
Note: *Zi Sheng Pian* records it as 0.3 cun, likely omitting the "one cun" character.
Fushe (Abdominal Residence) [Acupoint] (from *Jia Yi Jing*): Located 3 cun below Fujie. (from *Jia Yi Jing*)
Note: *Qian Jin Fang · Acupuncture Chapter · Women's Diseases* records it as 5 cun away from Daheng; *Ju Ying* and Wu Wenbing record it as 3 cun below Fuai; *Ru Men* and *Bao Jian* record it as 3 cun below Daheng; *Da Cheng* records it as 2 cun below Fujie, consistent with *Bao Jian*. All these are incorrect. *Yi Men Zhai Yao* states: "0.7 cun above Chongmen [Acupoint]," which is correct.
Chongmen (Surge Gate) [Acupoint] (from *Jia Yi Jing*): Also known as Cigong (Mercy Palace) [Acupoint] (from *Jia Yi Jing*), also known as Shang Cigong (Upper Mercy Palace) [Acupoint]. (from *Ju Ying*) Located 5 cun above Daheng, between the two ends of Henggu (Transverse Bone), at the arterial pulse in the crease, below Fushe. (from *Jia Yi Jing*)
Note: *Qian Jin Fang* states: "For injuries caused by diarrhea and dysentery, causing severe irritability and desire to die, moxa Cigong [Acupoint] for seven burns." The location is two and a half cun lateral to Henggu on both sides, which is incorrect.
(Twenty acupoints in total)
The *Gu Du Pian* (Bone Measurement Chapter) states: From the corner of the forehead down to the Zhu Gu (Heavenly Pillar Bone), the length is one chi. The invisible portion along the middle of the armpit is four cun long. From the axilla to the Ji Xie (Costal Margin), the length is one chi two cun. From the Ji Xie down to the Bi Shu (Hip Pivot), the length is six cun.
Note: Jiao refers to the frontal angle. Zhu Gu refers to Tian Zhu Gu (Heavenly Pillar Bone). See the facial acupoints section.

Side Hypochondrium Diagram 2
Yuanye (Abyss Armpit) [Acupoint] (from *Ling Shu*): Also known as Yemen (Armpit Gate) [Acupoint]. (from *Qian Jin Fang Commentary*) Located three cun below the axilla. (from *Su Wen*) In the hollow, take the point with the arm raised. (from *Jia Yi Jing*) Moxibustion is contraindicated. (from *Jia Yi Jing*) Acupuncture is contraindicated. (from *Ru Men*)
Note: *Qian Jin Fang* and other texts write "Quan Ye" (Spring Armpit) due to the Tang dynasty taboo against the character "Yuan". Tai Yuan was also written as Tai Quan. *Lei Jing*, *Ju Ying*, and subsequent texts ultimately consider it an alias, which is incorrect. *Qian Jin Fang Commentary* quotes the *Zhong Feng Pian* stating: "Yemen [Acupoint] is in the hair cluster of the axilla, also known as Quan Ye, which is Yuanye." This text is absent in current editions. The *Zhu Feng Pian* contains Yemen [Acupoint], similar to this text, detailed in the Extraordinary Acupoints section.
Zhejin (Turning Tendon) [Acupoint] (from *Jia Yi Jing*): Three cun below the axilla, moving forward one cun, attaching to the hypochondrium. (from *Jia Yi Jing*) One cun anterior to Yuanye. (from *Ru Men*)
Note: The character "Zhe" (attach) is written as "Cuo" (rub) in the secondary annotation. "Fu" (abdomen) is used instead of "Fu" (repeat/again) in *Fa Hui*. *Ju Ying* states: Also known as Shenguang [Acupoint], also known as Dan Mu (Gallbladder Front-Mu Point), located five fen below Qimen [Acupoint], in the depression, at the end of the third rib, two and a half cun lateral to the xiphoid process, directly aligned with the nipples. Take the point lying on the side with the upper leg flexed. This is correct. The secondary annotation belongs to the Riyue [Acupoint] entry; Shenguang and Dan Mu are aliases of Riyue. *Ju Ying* lacks the Riyue [Acupoint] under Zhejin, likely due to a missing slip. Wu Wenbing, *Yi Tong*, and *Da Cheng* were misled by this. *Yi Zong Jin Jian* did not recognize the error and wrote "moving down from Yuanye and forward one cun, at the end of the third rib, seven and a half cun lateral to the xiphoid process, directly aligned with the nipples," which is absurd and unreadable.
Dabao (Great Wrap) [Acupoint] (from *Ling Shu*): The great collateral of the Spleen, named Dabao, emerges three cun below Yuanye [Acupoint] and spreads over the chest and hypochondrium. (from *Ling Shu*) Emerges from the ninth intercostal space and the end of the costal margin. (from *Jia Yi Jing*) Located in the side hypochondrium. (from *Ru Men*) Six cun below the axilla. (from *Da Quan*) Between the hypochondrium and the costal margin, twelve cun apart, this acupoint is in the middle. (from *Zeng Zhu*)
Note: *Ju Ying* and Wu Wenbing write "[missing character] intercostal space," suspecting "nine" is an error.
Tianchi (Heavenly Pool) [Acupoint] (from *Ling Shu*): Also known as Tianhui (Heavenly Meeting) [Acupoint]. (from *Jia Yi Jing*) One cun posterior to the nipple, three cun below the axilla, attaching to the hypochondrium, directly opposite the Jue Rib Intercostal Space. (from *Jia Yi Jing*) Located in the depression of the side hypochondrium. (from *Ru Men*)
Note: The character "Xie" (hypochondrium) is written as "Li" (rib) in *Qian Jin Fang*, without the "three cun" text. "Jue" is written as "Jue" (dig) in *Qian Jin Yi*. *Ben Shu Pian* states: "Three cun below the axilla, Hand Jueyin Pericardium Meridian, named Yun." Jue Gu, Wang Bing says: "The end of the tail is called Jue Gu." Jue is a common variant. *Shuo Wen* states: "Jue is the hip bone." This is not the meaning here. *Yi Men Zhai Yao* states: According to *Li Ji · Nei Ze*: "Do not wade or lift." The character "Jue" implies the shape of ribs like the character "Jue" in *Ci Hui*: "Jue means lifting clothes." Ribs all resemble "Jue," why is only this acupoint called "Jue Li"? Some say "Jue" is interchangeable with "Jue" (dig), and phonetically with "Jue" (rise), meaning rising appearance. *Yi Zong Jin Jian* writes "rising ribs." Directly below the axilla, posterior to the nipple, there are ribs that are slightly higher and rise. I have dissected corpses and observed ribs; none differed, none rose. Lexicons state: "Jue means to throw." Perhaps this acupoint is taken close to the bone. Three cun below the axilla, moving forward one cun, is Zhejin [Acupoint], located behind the rib; anterior to that rib is Tianchi [Acupoint]. Dabao mentions side hypochondrium, Tianchi mentions attaching to hypochondrium, implying it attaches only to the hypochondrial region. Xie may be written as Li; Zhe Li is also acceptable. Ruzhong and Tianxi [Acupoints] are adjacent but in the depression of the sternum, so Tianxi is slightly higher. Tianchi is one cun posterior to the nipple, close to the rib. Xiongxiang, Tianxi, Shidou, and other acupoints form four rows on the chest wall; although in the side hypochondrium, belonging to the chest wall, they are actually attaching to the hypochondrium. Thus, taking this acupoint one cun posterior to the nipple places it close to the bone, aiming for the subcostal area.
Zhangmen (Gate of the Chapter) [Acupoint] (from *Mai Jing*): Also known as Changping [Acupoint], also known as Xie... (from *Jia Yi Jing*), also known as Pi Mu (Spleen Front-Mu Point) [Acupoint]. (from *Qian Jin Fang*), also known as Li... (from *Da Quan*). Located lateral to Daheng [Acupoint], directly aligned with the umbilicus, at the end of the costal margin. Lie on the side, flex the upper leg, extend the lower leg, and raise the arm to locate the point. (from *Jia Yi Jing*)
Note: *Qian Jin Fang* and *Ming Tang* write "Wai" (outside) of Daheng "Wen"; "Wen" is likely a typo for "Zhi" (of). *Qian Jin Fang · Lung Organ Chapter* and *Qian Jin Yi* lack the "Wen Ben" text. Ji Xie (Costal Margin) refers to the ribs descending vertically from Yuanye [Acupoint]; their ends are not crescent-shaped, the bone projects forward, and the tip is called Duan (end). The junction of the hypochondrium and abdomen, where the hypochondrium ends, is called Ji Xie. However, *Jin Gui*, *Qian Jin Yi*, *Wai Tai*, and subsequent annotations all write "Ji Li" (Costal Rib), failing to distinguish the meaning. *Shen Ying*, *Lei Jing*, and *Da Cheng* write "two cun above the umbilicus, six cun lateral on both sides"; *Ru Men* writes "six cun horizontally taken"; *Zi Sheng Zhu* cites *Nan Shu* and *Ju Ying* writing "nine cun lateral," all being too rigid. *Lei Jing* further states: "One and eight fen above the umbilicus, eight and a half cun lateral on both sides," which is the annotation for Da Mai [Meridian], and should not be followed. *Zhou Hou Bei Ji Fang* states: "The bent head of the small rib." *Da Quan* lists Ji Li as Jingmen [Acupoint], so it is not adopted. *Lei Jing* states: "The end of the elbow tip is the acupoint," which is a shortcut method. If using this method, one must take the end of the costal margin. For any shortcut method, see previous explanations. *Yi Men Zhai Yao* states: *Lei Jing* says: "Spleen Front-Mu Point." Note: Points on the abdomen are called Mu (Front-Mu); points on the back are called Shu (Back-Shu). Mu means gathering/knotting, where meridians gather; Shu means transporting, where qi transits. *Qian Jin Yi* states: "Excessive sweating, inability to move limbs, weakness, moxa Changping [Acupoint] for fifty burns." Five cun lateral to the umbilicus, no acupuncture. The mention of "no acupuncture" is suspicious. *Qian Jin Fang* states: "Diarrhea/dysentery, loss of appetite, indigestion even after eating, moxa Changgu [Acupoint] for fifty burns, repeated three times." The point is five cun lateral to the umbilicus, also known as Xunjie, an alias for Tianshu [Acupoint], but the annotation matches Zhangmen [Acupoint]. *Da Quan* states: Feihu [Acupoint] is Tongmen [Acupoint]. Tong and Zhang are similar characters, likely a mistake for Zhangmen. Youzhi Gou is also an alias. Additionally, Feihu exists in Extraordinary Acupoints.
Jingmen (Capital Gate) [Acupoint] (from *Jia Yi Jing*): Also known as Qifu (Qi Mansion) [Acupoint], also known as Qishu (Qi Shu Point) [Acupoint]. (from *Jia Yi Jing*), also known as Shen Mu (Kidney Front-Mu Point) [Acupoint]. (from *Da Cheng*) Located in the waist among the Jiang Gu, at the root of the Ji Xie, flanking the spine. (from *Qian Jin Fang*) Flex the upper leg, extend the lower leg, and raise the arm to locate the point. (from *Lei Jing*)
Note: "Shu" is written as "Shu" (transport) in *Wai Tai*. "Ji Li" is written as "Ji Xie" in *Zi Sheng* and *Lei Jing*, likely based on *Su Wen*: "Between the two Ji Xie, moxa it." However, it does not specify which acupoint. It might be a misreading of the note under Zhangmen mentioning Ji Xie. Ji Xie/Ji Li explanations are given above. Jiang Gu, secondary annotation writes "Ge Gu." Another note under Ju... says: "Jiang Gu," secondary annotation writes "Ge Gu." Ge is interchangeable with Qia. Jiang has the meaning of guarding. *Zuo Zhuan*: "When the ruler travels, there is a guard; the guard is called Jiang." Jiang Gu guards the lumbar and femoral bones. Qia, *Yu Pian*: "Waist bone." It says: "Jiang Gu," "Lumbo-pelvic bone," "Lumbo-condylar bone." Thus, Jiang, Kuan, Ke are phonetic variants of Qia with the same meaning. Ancient texts all say Jiang Gu, an ancient term. This acupoint seems unrelated to the waist bone, whereas Zhangmen corresponds to Ji Xie, and Yuanye [Acupoint] directly below is at the root of the posterior Ji Li, where the rib end connects to the waist bone, slightly belonging to the waist region, hence "Jiang Gu in the waist." Wang Taipu added "Yu" (and) after Jiang Gu for better flow. Taking Zhangmen [Acupoint] at the junction of the hypochondrium and abdomen is called Ji Xie. Posteriorly, there is a smaller rib, whose root is Jingmen [Acupoint], i.e., Ji Li, which is correct. Zhangmen is called Duan (end), Jingmen is called Ben (root), which can be seen. *Qian Jin Yi* and *Wai Tai* are consistent with *Qian Jin Fang*. *Jia Yi Jing* writes "below Jiang Gu in the waist, one and eight cun below the Ji Li flanking the spine," mixing in the Da Mai [Meridian] annotation, a transcription error. Therefore, following *Qian Jin Fang* and synthesizing: Using the Da Mai [Meridian] method is likely incorrect. "Fa" is suspected to be a note error. This shows one can interpret texts well. *Lei Jing* writes "five fen above the umbilicus, nine and a half cun lateral," which is too rigid.
Daimai (Girdle Vessel) [Acupoint] (from *Jia Yi Jing*): One and eight cun below the Ji Xie. (from *Jia Yi Jing*) In the depression, in the hollow. (from *Ming Tang*)
Note: *Qian Jin Fang*, *Qian Jin Yi*, and *Wai Tai* write "Ji Li." Later authors, not distinguishing the meaning of Zhangmen and Ji Xie, wrongly changed it to Li. If their theory were correct, Daimai [Meridian] would hang slightly backward and downward, not taken below Ji Xie and Zhangmen [Acupoint]. *Shen Ying Jing* states: "One and eight cun below the Ji Li, two fen above the umbilicus, seven and a half cun lateral." *Lei Jing* writes "eight and a half cun lateral to the umbilicus, nine cun for fat people, eight cun for thin people." Why? Fat and thin people differ. For those with large bellies, how can one use...
Wushu (Five Pivots) [Acupoint] (from *Jia Yi Jing*): Three cun below Daimai [Acupoint/Meridian], or one and a half cun lateral to Shuidao [Acupoint]. (from *Jia Yi Jing*) In the depression. (from *Zi Sheng*)
Note: "Pang" (lateral) is written as "Xia" (below) in *Qian Jin Fang*, *Qian Jin Yi*, and *Wai Tai*; "Wai" (outside) in *Ru Men*. From Zhangmen [Acupoint] to Juliao [Acupoint], it is eight and three fen. *Gu Du*: From Ji Xie to Wushu/Shuidao Pang, one and a half cun. Measuring now, from Ji Xie/Zhangmen [Acupoint] to Wushu [Acupoint] is four and eight fen. Zhangmen [Acupoint] is directly lateral to the umbilicus. Shuidao [Acupoint] is four cun below the umbilicus. *Gu Du Pian*: From Ji Xie below to Bi Shu, six cun. Using the inch measurement from the umbilicus to Henggu (six and a half cun), it is roughly similar. However, the measurements for Shuidao [Acupoint] and Jianshe [Acupoint] are unstable. It is best to take it three cun below Daimai [Acupoint/Meridian]. *Ming Tang* writes two cun below Daimai; *Da Cheng* writes five and five fen lateral to Shuidao, which is incorrect.
Weidao (Way of Maintenance) [Acupoint] (from *Jia Yi Jing*): Also known as Waishu [Acupoint]. (from *Jia Yi Jing*) Five and three fen below Zhangmen [Acupoint]. (from *Jia Yi Jing*)
Note: *Lei Jing* writes "eight and five fen lateral to Zhongji," which should not be followed.
Juliao [Acupoint] (from *Jia Yi Jing*): Eight and three fen below Zhangmen [Acupoint], above Jiang Gu, in the depression. (from *Jia Yi Jing*)
Note: Jiang Gu, secondary annotation writes "Ge Gu," referencing *Nei Jing*: "Two Ge..." Bi Shu is where the thigh pivot meets the lower abdomen and waist, a protruding bone called Qia Gu, explanation given above. *Gu Du Pian* states: "From Ji Xie below to Bi Shu, six cun." Based on this, eight and three fen should be six and three fen. At six cun lateral to the hypochondrium, how can there be eight and three fen? About three fen above the Qia bone, in the depression, is the point. Saying it is below Zhangmen [Acupoint], Weidao [Acupoint] moves slightly forward, Juliao [Acupoint] also goes obliquely down lateral to the bone. Why? Daimai [Meridian] and Wushu [Acupoint] refer to below Ji Xie and below Daimai [Acupoint/Meridian], which is visible. Generally, for ... points, take the bone gap Ju...; Guan...; Jian...; eight categories can verify this. Or take it below Huantiao [Acupoint] at the femoral head, conforming to the eight and three fen method. However, Huantiao [Acupoint] is above it and belongs to the lower limb; Juliao [Acupoint] is below it and belongs to the middle of the Ji Xie. The error is obvious. Secondary annotation writes "four and three fen below Zhangmen [Acupoint]"; "four" is likely a typo. *Yi Zong Jin Jian* follows Weidao [Acupoint] going down three cun, which is incorrect.
