(The muscles protruding on both sides of the spine) belong to the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Channel (The *Ling Shu* states: The branch of the Foot-Taiyang channel separates from the inner canthus, descends bilaterally through the gluteal region (*Shen*), passes through the muscles along the spine, and crosses the hip joint. The *Su Wen* states: In lumbar pain, the pain extends up the spine to the vertex, accompanied by a heavy and dull head, blurred vision, and a desire to fall; treat by bleeding the collateral vessels of the Taiyang channel).
(Also known as the chest or *Yi*) is collectively governed by the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Channel (The *Ling Shu* states: The Hand-Shaoyin channel originates in the heart, emerges to connect with the Heart System (*Xin Xi*), descends through the diaphragm, and connects with the Small Intestine. It also states: The Hand-Shaoyin tendon runs alongside the medial aspect of the breast, knotting in the chest; its pathology involves internal tension and the Heart supporting the *Fuliang* condition. The *Su Wen* states: South wind arises in summer, corresponding to the Heart organ, with Shu points located in the chest and diaphragm; pathogenic factors reside internally in the chest and hypochondrium. It further states: Patients with Heart disease suffer from pain in the chest and fullness in the hypochondrium; if deficient, the chest and abdomen become distended, and the hypochondrium draws pain from the waist. Additionally, when red pulses are present, rapid and firm, the diagnosis indicates accumulated Qi in the chest, occasionally impairing digestion, named *Xin Bi* (Heart Bi). This results from external pathogens, excessive mental exertion causing Heart deficiency, allowing evil Qi to enter). It also belongs to the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Channel (The *Ling Shu* states: The Hand-Jueyin channel originates in the chest, emerges to connect with the Pericardium Collateral (*Xin Bao Luo*), descends through the diaphragm, and sequentially connects with the Upper, Middle, and Lower Jiao; its branch follows the chest and emerges from the hypochondrium. When this channel is disturbed, symptoms include chest and hypochondrial fullness and severe palpitations. It also states: The divergent vessel of the Hand-Jueyin is named Neiguan (*PC6*), located two cun above the wrist crease, emerging between the two tendons, ascending along the channel to connect with the Pericardium and the Heart System. Excess manifests as Heart pain; deficiency manifests as stiffness of the head and neck; treatment involves needling the point between the two tendons). It also belongs to the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Channel (The *Ling Shu* states: The branch of the Foot-Shaoyin channel emerges from the Lung, connects with the Heart, and pours into the chest. It also states: For Qi disorders in the Kidney, treatment should focus on the chest/hypochondrium and back Shu points. The *Su Wen* states: When evil Qi invades the collaterals of the Foot-Shaoyin, it causes sudden Heart pain, acute abdominal distension, and chest/hypochondrial fullness). It also belongs to the Hand-Taiyin Lung Channel and Foot-Taiyin Spleen Channel (The *Ling Shu* states: When white pulses appear, they are rapid and floating, indicating excess above and deficiency below, accompanied by fright and accumulated Qi in the chest; if rapid and weak, it is named *Fei Bi* (Lung Bi), with chills and fever, caused by intercourse after drunkenness. The *Ling Shu* also states: The branch of the Foot-Taiyin channel separates from the Stomach, ascends through the diaphragm, and pours into the Heart. Diseases generated include irritability and urgent pain in the epigastrium. It further states: For Qi fullness in the chest and wheezing, take the point at the tip of the great toe, one grain-width away from the nail corner. Retain the needle for cold conditions; remove quickly for heat conditions; stop when Qi descends). It is additionally associated with the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Channel (The *Su Wen* states: Irritability and headache, with pathology in the diaphragm, involve the Hand-Taiyang and Hand-Shaoyin channels. Note: The Hand-Taiyang channel enters the supraclavicular fossa from the shoulder, connects with the Heart, follows the pharynx, descends through the diaphragm, reaches the Stomach, and belongs to the Small Intestine. Thus, irritability and headache indicate pathology in the diaphragm). It also belongs to the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Channel and Foot-Yangming Stomach Channel (The *Su Wen* states: When evil Qi invades the collaterals of the Hand-Yangming, it causes Qi fullness in the chest, wheezing, hypochondrial distension, and heat in the chest. The *Ling Shu* states: The Foot-Yangming channel contains the arterial pulse beside the throat, with Shu points located in the chest. It also states: Stomach disease presents as abdominal distension and pain in the epigastrium corresponding to the heart. Another view states: What the Yangming channel describes as chest fullness and shortness of breath is due to Water Qi residing in the Zang-Fu organs. Water is Yin Qi; since Yin Qi resides in the interior, it causes chest pain and shortness of breath. Mild cases are treated with Wuling San; severe cases are treated according to the methods of Zhang Hezi. Shen Chengzhi stated: There are four longitudinal lines in the chest. The central line descends from below the laryngeal prominence along the sternum to the pubic symphysis, belonging to the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel); the second line of the chest is two cun lateral to the center, belonging to the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Channel; the third line is four cun lateral to the center, belonging to the Foot-Yangming Stomach Channel; the fourth line is six cun lateral to the center, belonging to the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Channel).
