The disease of *Shijue* (Corpse-like Coma) presents as sudden death with the pulse still beating; listening near the ear reveals a humming sound like cicadas, and warmth in the groin area. Although there is a humming sound in the ear and the pulse beats, this is diagnosed as *Shijue*, and the following methods are used for rescue.
Blow air into the patient's left ear through a tube three times, then blow into the right ear three times; the patient will revive.
Another prescription: Crush dried *Changpu Rhizoma* (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma), take an amount the size of a jujube pit, and place it under the tongue.
Another method: Moxibustion on the *Renzhong* (GV26) acupoint at the nasolabial groove, seven moxa cones; additionally, moxibustion one cun below the scrotum, one hundred moxa cones. For women, moxibustion between the two nipples. It is also said to press hard on the *Renzhong* point with fingernails for a long time, or needle the *Renzhong* point deeply until the teeth level, resulting in immediate revival.
These methods are entirely derived from the Bian Que techniques transmitted by Doctor Wei, specifically the treatment for the Crown Prince of Zhao who suffered from *Shijue*. Zhang Zhongjing also stated that *Shijue* involves a beating pulse but no breath; because Qi is blocked and cannot circulate, the patient appears quietly dead.
Insert powder of *Changpu Rhizoma* into both nostrils and blow it in; have someone place pieces of *Guizhi* (Cinnamon Twig) under the tongue. This is also the method of Bian Que, treating conditions similar to those suffered by the King of Chu.
Another prescription: Shave hair from the left temple area, measuring two cun square, burn it to ash, and administer with wine to enter the throat; the patient revives immediately.
Another prescription: Wrap a rope around the patient's wrist, selecting the left arm for males and the right for females. The rope passes over the *Dazhui* (GV14) acupoint at the top of the neck and runs down along the spine. Apply fifty moxa cones at the end of the rope; the patient will survive. This is a secret method of Bian Que.
Another prescription: Warm compress the areas under both hypochondria. Take soot from the stove, the size of a bullet, mix with rice water (*Jiangshui*), and drink. After a short while, repeat three or four times. Then use a tube to blow air into the ears, having three or four people take turns blowing. Alternatively, use a small tube to blow dust from roof beams, the size of a bean, into the nostrils; the patient recovers.
Another prescription: Take fourteen strands of tail hair from a white horse and two front hooves from a white horse, burn them together, and form pills the size of small beans. Open the mouth and swallow two pills; after a moment, take one more pill.
Another prescription: Needle the *Baihui* (GV20) acupoint, located five cun above the anterior hairline directly above the nose, insert three fen, and apply tonification. Needle the medial side of the flesh under the nail of the great toe, three fen from the nail edge; needle the upper part of the middle toe nail, inserting three fen each; needle the medial aspect of the great toe, the width of a leek leaf from the tip; and needle the end of the sharp bone of the Hand Shaoyin Heart Meridian (e.g., *Shenmen* HT7), inserting one fen each.
Another prescription: Moxibustion on the *Danzhong* (CV17) acupoint, twenty-eight moxa cones.
