[Signs and Symptoms] The breast is the pathway of the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian, and the nipple belongs to the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian.
[Etiology] Phlegm generated from damp-heat caused by rich flavors accumulates between the diaphragm and struggles with retained milk, forming the condition. Retained milk is formed due to the infant's breath blowing on it; or it is formed when anger stimulates the retained milk. All such diseases involve the Yangming Meridian. If shallow, it forms an abscess (Yong); if deep, it forms a carcinoma (Yan), which is difficult to treat.
[Treatment Method] It is appropriate to relieve stagnation in the Jueyin Meridian, clear heat in the Yangming Meridian, move stagnant blood, and dissipate swelling and nodules.
Formula: Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) [clears Yangming heat], Ju Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Gua Lou Zi (Trichosanthis Semen), Gan Cao Jie (Liquoritis Radix et Rhizoma cum Nodis) [moves blood], Feng Fang (Apiis Cera), Tai Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong), Xiang Fu (Cyperi Rhizoma) [add these two for qi stagnation], Qing Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride) [relieves Jueyin stagnation], Ge Gen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix).
Take with wine and ginger juice.
Another Formula: Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Tian Hua Fen (Trichosanthis Radix), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) [1 liang], Gan Cao Jie (Liquoritis Radix et Rhizoma cum Nodis) [subtract 1 qian 5 fen from original amount], Gua Lou Zi (Trichosanthis Semen), Chuan Shan Jia (Manis Squama) [stir-fried with old wall soil]. Take as pills made with wine.
[Etiology] Generally, excessive dietary flavors and accumulated qi stagnation constitute poison, wind, and heat. These three factors change and transform each other. One must distinguish between deficiency and excess patterns. Excess patterns are easy to treat, while deficiency patterns are concerning. Initially, the disease arises in the Shaoyang Meridian alone. If one does not observe dietary and lifestyle restrictions, it spreads to the Yangming Meridian. The Gallbladder Meridian governs decision-making, contains ministerial fire (Xiang Huo), and has abundant qi but scarce blood.
Shen Xiao Fang (Miraculous Efficacy Formula): Mu Li Fen (Ostreae Concha Powder) [5 qian], mixed with Ji Dan (Galli Vesica Bile) to form a paste, applied externally. Alternatively, use Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum) [1 liang] and Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex) [5 qian], mixed with water and taken orally for good results.
[Signs and Symptoms] Externally, there may be scrofula resembling a frog's neck, presenting as swelling without distinct nodules. Scrofula occurs in the Yangming and Shaoyang meridians; the nodules are tender and painful upon pressure. Goiter (Ying) may appear in hidden or obscure locations. Tubercles resulting from consumptive diseases (Lao Zhai) may cluster in several nodes near the ear, appearing either gathered or scattered. Tumors and similar conditions present likewise.
[Treatment Method] Clear fire and dissipate nodules. For deficiency, tonify primordial qi; for excess, drain yin fire. For tonification, use Shi Quan San (Ten Complete Powder); for purgation, use Yu Zhu San (Jade Candle Powder) and Hua Jian Tang (Solidity-Dissolving Decoction).
Sheng Ma ( Cimicifugae Rhizoma) [1 qian], Ge Gen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix) [5 fen], Lou Lu (Euphorbiae Humifusae Radix) [enters Foot-Yangming], Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex) [3 qian, removes stasis], Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix) [raw and prepared, 3 qian each], Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructus) [1 qian, generates blood vessels], Huang Qi (Astragali Membranacei Radix) [1 qian, protects skin], Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) [astringes dispersion, 3 qian], Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex) [dissipates nodules, used hot for cold pathology, 3 qian], Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) [8 qian], Shu Nian Zi (Arnebiae Seu Lithospermi Semen) [reduces swelling], Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) [1 qian], Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Du Huo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix) [each 5 fen, dissipates nodules], Kun Bu (Algae), San Leng (Sparganii Rhizoma) [breaks hardness], Guang E Zhu (Curcumae Longae Rhizoma), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhodus), Hou Po (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex) [add for abdominal distension], Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix) [add for qi obstruction], Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) [add for constipation].
Da Huang Tang (Rhubarb Decoction): Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) [roasted], Zao Jiao (Gleditsiae Fructus), Gan Cao (Liquoritis Radix et Rhizoma) [roasted].
Decoct and take orally. Apply powder of She Xiang (Moschus) and Gua Lou Ren (Trichosanthis Semen) externally.
Method: For unruptured nodules, puncture them with a red-hot needle, then apply Zhui Du Gao (Poison-Chasing Ointment) and insert a ramie thread tip into the needle hole.
Additionally, crush Tu Niu Xi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix) and apply it externally, binding it tightly, changing once daily. When pus is nearly exhausted, apply powders of Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix), Di Yu (Sanguisorbae Radix), Hua Shi (Talcum), Han Shui Shi (Halloysitum Rubrum), and Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), binding the wound. Also bind the wound with Bai Cai (Brassica pekinensis) and Mo Cao (Polygoni Tinctorii Folium). Use powders of Han Shui Shi (Halloysitum Rubrum), Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Xiao (Natrii Sulfas), Long Gu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi seu Dentis), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), and Bing Lang (Arecae Semen) to close the wound. Later, use Zhu Ru (Bambusae Caulis in Taenia) to promote flesh growth, finishing with Bai Gao Yao (White Plaster). If redness persists, apply Bei Ke (a type of herbal medicine). If ulcerated for a long time without healing, use Xiang Fu (Cyperi Rhizoma) and iron heated by lamp wick cauterization on the necrotic tissue. Afterward, follow the previous treatment methods.
Treatment Indication: Lumps or nodules appearing near the ear or on the neck.
Formula: Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Xiang Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix).
Grind into powder, mix with honey, and apply externally.
