I have admired the portraits of famous physicians through the ages, and thus came to know Mr. Chu Cheng's surname; I selected and read miscellaneous writings and prescriptions by famous physicians, and thereby understood his medical skills. Now that I have seen the book he left behind, I further comprehend his "Xinshu" (the integration of medical ethics and technical proficiency), as he silently comprehended the profound principles of the wondrous operations of Creation (Zaohua, referring to natural laws). The *History of Qi* praises Chu Cheng for diagnosing based on facial complexion and prescribing with divine efficacy, placing him on par with Lu Yi (Bian Que) and Hua Tuo; could this be deceiving me? Regarding the compilation of this book, its preservation and dissemination, as well as its obscurity and prominence, are fully detailed in the preceding and following texts, which are already recorded in the preface; therefore, I shall not add further remarks.
