Moving Qi refers to the sensation of throbbing and jumping within the abdomen.
If Moving Qi is located on the right, sweating therapy (diaphoresis) must not be used; if mistakenly applied, it will cause epistaxis (nosebleed), thirst, mental restlessness, and vomiting clear water upon drinking. (The *Ren Shu* states: First administer Wuling San [Five-Ingredient Poria Decoction] three times, then administer Zhuye Tang [Bamboo Leaf Decoction].)
If Moving Qi is located on the left, sweating therapy must not be used; if mistakenly applied, it will cause head stiffness, incessant sweating, twitching of sinews, and palpitations of muscles. (The *Ren Shu* states: First administer Fangfeng Baizhu Muli San [Saposhnikovia, Atractylodes Macrocephala, and Oyster Shell Powder], and after sweating stops, administer Jianzhong Tang [Middle-Building Decoction]; see the section on spontaneous sweating.)
If Moving Qi is located above, sweating therapy must not be used; if mistakenly applied, it will cause Qi rebellion rushing upward, terminating precisely at the heart region. (The *Ren Shu* states: Ligen Tang [Li Root Decoction] is appropriate; see the section on Qi rebelling toward the heart.)
If Moving Qi is located below, sweating therapy must not be used; if mistakenly applied, it will cause anhidrosis (absence of sweat), severe mental distress, painful bone joints, dizziness, aversion to cold, vomiting food immediately after eating, and inability to retain grain or food. (The *Ren Shu* states: First administer Daju Pi Tang [Large Citrus Peel Decoction], and after vomiting stops, administer Xiao Jianzhong Tang [Small Middle-Building Decoction].)
If Moving Qi is located on the right, purgation therapy must not be used; if mistakenly applied, it will lead to exhaustion of internal body fluids, resulting in dry throat, dry nasal passages, dizziness, and palpitations.
If Moving Qi is located on the left, purgation therapy must not be used; if mistakenly applied, it will cause abdominal cramping and tightness, inability to eat, exacerbation of Moving Qi, and although the body may have heat, the patient desires to curl up when lying down.
If Moving Qi is located above, purgation therapy must not be used; if mistakenly applied, it will cause hot and vexated palms, alternating sensations of cold and heat on the body, spontaneous leakage of cold sweat, desire for water, and a compulsion to pour water over oneself.
If Moving Qi is located below, purgation therapy must not be used; if mistakenly applied, it will cause abdominal distension and fullness, dizziness upon sudden rising, expulsion of undigested food after eating, and epigastric glomus (pi syndrome).
