Kidney wind (Shen Feng) belongs to Kidney deficiency (Xu), where Wind pathogen (Feng Xie) invades the shank, causing the skin to resemble tinea or gradually spreading up to the thigh; in prolonged cases, it spreads over the entire body. External manifestations include itching leading to sores with dripping pus and water, and blurred vision; internal manifestations include dry mouth and tongue, fatigue of the waist and legs, vomiting of phlegm accompanied by fever, night sweats, and general fatigue. The treatment method uses Liuwei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) as the primary formula, assisted by Sisheng San (Four Fresh Powder). For those with Spleen and Stomach weakness (Pi Wei Xu Ruo), Buchong Yiqi Tang (Decoction for Replenishing the Middle and Augmenting Qi) should be used as the primary formula, assisted by Liuwei Wan and Sisheng San.
Xue Xunzhai, an official at the Directorate of Astronomy, was sixty-one years old. He suffered from this condition in both feet, with dripping pus, fever, and expectoration of phlegm for four years. This was a case of kidney wind syndrome; he was treated with Liuwei Wan and Sisheng San and recovered. More than a year later, the condition recurred and spread over the entire body, worsening in the late afternoon, accompanied by profuse phlegm, thirst, night sweats, sores on the lips and tongue, and redness and blurriness in both eyes. These were all due to deficient fire in the Kidney meridian and fluid overflowing to transform into phlegm. He was cured using Jiaban Bawei Wan (Modified Eight-Ingredient Pill). Three years later, he experienced dribbling urination and astringent pain in the urethra; this was caused by sexual desire without emission, leading to internal deterioration. He was cured using the aforementioned pill combined with Buchong Yiqi Tang, added with Maidong (Ophiopogon Root) and Wuweizi (Schisandra Fruit).
Jili Wan (Tribulus Pill): Treats men with itching and sores on both feet persisting for years, commonly known as kidney wind sores. It is suitable to take this medicine.
