When toxic pathogens accumulate at the web of the thumb, causing redness, swelling, and pain, it is called Hegu Ju (Hegu Carbuncle). It is also known as Yaci Du (Y-Stabbing Toxicity), Baxie Du (Split-Crab Toxicity), Shou Cha Fa (Hand Fork Eruption), or Bing Xie Cha (Sick Crab Fork). This condition is caused by the accumulation of wind-heat toxins in the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian. In the initial stage, moxibustion with garlic slices is appropriate, followed by oral administration of Huoming Yin (Life-Saving Decoction) augmented with Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig), Jianghuang (Turmeric Rhizome), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root), and Shengma (Cimicifuga Rhizome), decocted with water and wine. For patients with robust constitutions, treatment involves resolving both the exterior and interior through sweating or purging methods. For elderly or weak patients, one should select from Shiquan Dabu Tang (Decoction for Ten Thousand Perfections and Great Tonification), Shixuan San (Ten Acupoints Powder), or Tuoli San (Interior-Supporting Powder). When toxic pathogens accumulate and cause swelling at the web spaces between the five fingers, it is commonly referred to as Yacha (Crow Fork).

At the flexure points of the hand, when toxic pathogens accumulate and cause redness, it is called Shouqu Fa (Hand Flexure Eruption), commonly known as Shouniu Yaque (Hand Ox Pressing Bend). This is caused by the aggregation of wind-heat toxins in the Hand-Taiyin, Hand-Jueyin, and Hand-Shaoyin meridians (collectively Hand Three Yin Meridians). The treatment method is the same as described above. A forty-year-old patient developed a carbuncle on the wrist, resulting in edema of the face, eyes, and arms. He had been unable to eat for seven days, consuming only several sheng of water. His mental state was confused and lethargic, and urination was difficult. During the height of summer, foul air was oppressive, and severe symptoms appeared continuously. Medication was generally contraindicated. However, Yusuan Dan (Jade Pivot Pill) was applied topically mixed with Chan Su (Toad Venom). Approximately one he of maggots and one sheng of pus were discharged, all severe symptoms subsided, and the patient recovered after tonic nourishment.
Zijin Niuxi San (Purple Gold Achyranthes Powder) treats Shouban Yaque (Half-Arm Pressing Bend) and all types of swollen toxins and nodular masses on the feet accompanied by pain.

Mince the herbs, heat them by stir-frying with distiller's grains dregs, and apply to the affected area.
Another prescription:
