清心散

上为末，先以蜜水洗舌，后以姜汁擦舌，将药末蜜水调稀，搽舌本上。
〔身痛〕
铁弹丸（《和剂》） 治卒暴中风，神志昏愦，牙关紧急，目睛直视，手足螈 ，口面 斜，
涎潮语涩，筋挛骨痛，瘫痪偏枯，或麻木不仁，或瘙痒无常，应是风疾，及打扑伤损，肢节疼痛，皆治
之，通经络，活血脉。
乳香（另研） 没药（另研。各一两） 川乌头（炮，去皮脐，为末，一两半） 五灵脂（酒浸，淘去砂石，
晒干，四两，为末） 麝香（细研，一钱）
上先将乳香、没药于阴凉处细研，次入麝，次入药末，再研匀，滴水和丸，如弹子大。每服一丸，食
后临卧，薄荷酒磨化服。
十味锉散（《易简》） 治中风血弱，臂痛连及筋骨，举动艰难。

至圣保命金丹（《宝鉴》） 治中风口眼 斜，手足 曳，语言謇涩，四肢不举，精神昏愦，痰多。
贯众（一两） 生地黄（七钱） 大黄（半两） 青黛 板蓝根（各三钱） 朱砂（研） 牛黄（研） 蒲黄 薄荷
（各二钱半） 珠子（研） 龙脑（研，各一钱半） 麝香（研，一钱）
上十二味，为末，入研药和匀，蜜丸芡实大，金箔为衣。每用一丸，细嚼，茶清送下，新汲水亦得。
如病患嚼不得，用薄荷汤化下，无时。此药镇坠痰涎，大有神效。
牛黄清心丸（《和剂》） 治诸风缓纵不随，语言謇涩，心怔健忘，恍惚去来，头目眩冒，胸中烦
郁，痰涎壅塞，精神昏愦。又治心气不足，神志不定，惊恐怕怖，悲忧惨戚，虚烦少睡，喜怒无时，或发
狂癫，神情昏乱。

上除枣、杏仁、金箔、二角屑及牛黄、雄黄、麝四味外，为细末，入余药和匀，用炼蜜与枣膏为丸，
每两作十丸，金箔为衣。每服一丸，温水化下，食后服。小儿惊痫，即酌度多少，以竹叶汤温化。
防风通圣散（见眩晕。）
三一承气汤（《宣明》） 治伤寒大承气汤证腹满实痛，调胃承气汤证谵语下利，小承气汤证内热
不便，三一承气汤合而为一也。及治中风僵仆，风痫发作，并皆服之，此下剂也。
大黄（锦纹者） 芒硝 浓朴（去皮） 枳实（各半两） 甘草（一两）
水一盅半，生姜三片，煎至七分，内硝煎二沸，去滓温服，不拘时，以利为度。
防风丸（《和剂》） 治一切风及痰热上攻，头痛恶心，项背拘急，目眩旋晕，心怔烦闷，
手足无力，骨节疼痹，言语謇涩，口眼 动，神思恍惚，痰涎壅滞，昏愦健忘，虚烦少睡。
防风（洗） 川芎 天麻（去苗，酒浸一宿） 甘草（炙。各二两） 朱砂（研，为衣，半两）
上为末，炼蜜为丸，每两作十丸，以朱砂为衣。每服一丸，荆芥汤化服，茶、酒嚼下亦得，无时。
犀角丸（《和剂》） 除三焦邪热，疏一切风气，治风盛痰实，头目昏重，肢节拘急，痰涎壅滞，
肠胃燥涩，大小便难。
黄连（去须） 犀角（镑。各十两） 人参（去芦，二十两） 大黄（八十两） 黑牵牛（一百二十两，炒，别捣
取粉，六十两）
上与牵牛粉合和，为细末，炼蜜丸，梧子大。每服十五丸至二十丸，临卧温汤下。更量虚实加减。
排风汤（《和剂》） 治男妇风虚冷湿气入脏，狂言妄语，精神错乱。肝风发则面青心闷，吐逆呕
沫，胁满，头眩重，耳不闻人声，偏枯筋急，曲拳而卧。心风发则面赤，翕然而热，悲伤 怒，目张呼唤。
脾风发则面黄，身体不仁，不能行步，饮食失味，梦寐倒错，与亡人相随。肺风发则面白，咳逆唾脓血，上
气奄然而极。肾风发则面黑，手足不随，腰痛难以俯仰，痹冷骨疼，若有此候，令人心惊，志意不定，恍
忽多忘。服此汤安心定志，聪耳明目，通治脏腑诸风疾。

大三五七散（《和剂》） 治八风五痹，瘫痪 曳，口眼 斜，眉角牵引，项背拘强，牙
关紧急，心中愦闷，神色如醉，遍身发热，骨节烦疼，肌肉麻木，腰膝不仁，皮肤 动，或如虫行。又治
阳虚头痛，风寒入脑，目旋运转，如舟船之上，耳内蝉鸣，或如风雨之声，应风寒湿痹香港脚缓弱等疾。

上为细末，温酒调下二钱，食前服。
四生散（《和剂》） 治男妇肝肾风毒上攻，眼赤痒痛，不时羞明多泪，下疰脚膝生疮，及遍身风
癣，服药不验，居常多觉两耳中痒。
黄 川羌活 蒺藜（沙苑者） 白附子（各等分，生用）
上为细末，每服二钱，薄荷酒调下。如肾脏风下疰生疮，以猪腰批开，入药二钱合定，纸里煨熟，
空心细嚼，以盐酒送下。
省风汤（《和剂》） 治卒急中风，口噤全不能言，口眼 斜，筋脉挛急，抽搐疼痛，风盛痰实，旋
晕僵仆，头目眩重，胸膈烦满，左瘫右痪，手足麻痹，骨节烦疼，步履艰辛，恍忽不定，神志昏愦，一切
风证，可预服之。

上为细末，用无灰酒打面糊为丸，如桐子大。每服七丸，渐加至十五丸，温酒下。服此药莫服灵宝
丹，恐药无效。
轻脚丸 治左瘫右痪，脚弱不能行履。
木鳖子（别研） 白胶香（别研） 白芍药（各二两） 草乌（去皮尖，四两） 赤小豆（一两，别研为末，打糊）
上末之，赤豆糊为丸，如梧子大。每七丸，加至十丸，温酒或木瓜汤下，病在上食后临卧，病在下
空心服。忌热物少时。
伏虎丹（《和剂》） 专治左瘫右痪。
生干地黄 蔓荆子 白僵蚕（炒去丝。各二钱半） 五灵脂（去皮，半两） 踯躅花（炒） 南星 白胶香

末之，酒煮半夏末为糊丸，如龙眼大。每一丸分四服，酒吞下，日进二服。（此建康乌衣巷有老人

换腿丸（《和剂》） 治肾经虚弱，下注腰膝，或当风取凉，冷气所乘，沉重少力，移步迟缓，筋脉
挛痛，不能屈伸，脚心隐痛，有防履地。大治干湿香港脚，赤肿痛楚，发作无时，呻吟难忍，气满喘促，举动
艰难，面色黧黑，传送秘涩，并皆疗之。

左经丸（《和剂》） 治左瘫右痪，手足颤掉，言语謇涩，浑身疼痛，筋脉拘挛，不得屈伸，项
背强直，下注脚膝，行履艰难，及跌扑闪肭，外伤内损。常服通经络，活血脉，疏风顺气，壮骨轻身。
生黑豆（一斤，以斑蝥二十一枚去头足同煮，候豆胀为度，去之取豆焙干） 川乌（炮，去皮脐，二两）

追风如圣散（《统旨》） 治男妇诸般风证，左瘫右痪，半身不遂，口眼歪斜，腰腿疼痛，
手足顽麻，语言謇涩，行步艰难，遍身疮癣，上攻头目，耳内蝉鸣，痰涎不利，皮肤搔痒，偏正头风，无问
新旧。及破伤风，角弓反张，蛇犬咬伤，金刃所伤，血出不止，敷之立止。

治疗中风不语：取少许龟尿，点涂于舌上，效果神奇。
取龟尿的方法：将龟放在新荷叶上，用猪鬃毛插入其鼻孔刺激它，龟尿就会立即流出。
清心散
青黛、硼砂、薄荷（各二钱）、牛黄、冰片（各三分）。
以上药物研为细末，先用蜜水清洗舌头，然后用姜汁擦拭舌头，将药末用蜜水调稀，涂抹在舌根部位。
〔身痛〕
铁弹丸（出自《和剂局方》）治疗突然暴发的中风，神志昏沉迷糊，牙关紧闭，眼睛直视，手足抽搐，口眼歪斜，涎液涌流、言语涩滞，筋脉拘挛、骨骼疼痛，半身不遂或肢体瘫痪，或者麻木不仁，或者瘙痒无常，凡是风疾，以及跌打损伤，肢节疼痛，都予以治疗，能通经络，活血脉。
乳香（另研）、没药（另研，各一两）、川乌头（炮制，去皮脐，研为末，一两半）、五灵脂（酒浸，淘去砂石，晒干，四两，研为末）、麝香（细研，一钱）。
先将乳香、没药在阴凉处细细研磨，然后加入麝香，再加入其他药末，再次研磨均匀，滴水泛丸，大小如弹子。每次服用一丸，饭后临睡前，用薄荷酒磨化后服用。
十味锉散（出自《易简方》）治疗中风血虚，手臂疼痛牵连筋骨，举动艰难。
附子（三两，炮制）、当归（洗净）、黄芪（炙制）、白芍药（各二两）、川芎、防风、白术（各一两半）、肉桂（一两）、茯苓、熟地黄（各七钱半）。
每次服用四钱，用水一盏，生姜八片，大枣三枚煎煮，饭后临睡前服用。
蠲痹汤 治疗风湿相搏，身体烦疼，手足冷痹，四肢沉重。（见痹病条下。）
〔昏冒〕
至圣保命金丹（出自《宝鉴》）治疗中风口眼歪斜，手足牵引下垂，语言謇涩，四肢不能抬起，精神昏沉迷糊，痰多。
贯众（一两）、生地黄（七钱）、大黄（半两）、青黛、板蓝根（各三钱）、朱砂（研细）、牛黄（研细）、蒲黄、薄荷（各二钱半）、珠子（研细）、龙脑（研细，各一钱半）、麝香（研细，一钱）。
以上十二味药，研为细末，加入已研细的药物混合均匀，用蜂蜜制成如芡实大小的丸药，用金箔作为包衣。每次取一丸，细细咀嚼，用茶清送下，用新汲水送下也可以。如果病人无法咀嚼，用薄荷汤化开服用，不拘时间。此药能镇坠痰涎，大有神效。
牛黄清心丸（出自《和剂局方》）治疗各种风证导致肢体弛缓不能随意运动，语言謇涩，心悸健忘，神志恍惚不定，头目眩晕，胸中烦闷郁结，痰涎壅塞，精神昏沉迷糊。又治疗心气不足，神志不定，惊恐害怕，悲伤忧郁，虚烦少睡，喜怒无常，或者发狂癫症，神情昏乱。
白芍药、麦门冬（去心）、黄芩、当归（去苗）、防风（去苗）、白术（各一两半）、柴胡、桔梗、川芎、白茯苓（去皮）、杏仁（去皮尖双仁，麸炒黄，另研，各一两二钱半）、神曲（研细）、蒲黄（炒制）、人参（去芦，各二两半）、羚羊角（屑）、麝香（研细）、龙脑（研细，各一两）、肉桂（去粗皮）、大豆黄卷（捣碎，炒制）、阿胶（捣碎，炒制，各一两七钱半）、白蔹、干姜（炮制，各七钱半）、牛黄（研细，一两二钱）、犀角屑（二两）、雄黄（研细，飞制，八钱）、干山药（七两）、甘草（锉碎，炒制，五两）、金箔（一千二百片，其中四百片用于包衣）、大枣（一百枚，蒸熟，去皮核，研成膏）。

防风通圣散（见眩晕条下。）
三一承气汤（出自《宣明论方》）治疗伤寒大承气汤证的腹部胀满实痛，调胃承气汤证的谵语下利，小承气汤证的内热不便，三一承气汤是将三者合而为一。又治疗中风猝然跌倒，风痫发作，都适用服用，这是泻下剂。
大黄（锦纹者）、芒硝、浓朴（去皮）、枳实（各半两）、甘草（一两）。
用水一盅半，生姜三片，煎至七分，加入芒硝再煮沸两次，去渣滓温服，不拘时间，以大便通畅为度。
防风丸（出自《和剂局方》）治疗一切风邪及痰热上攻，头痛恶心，项背拘急，目眩旋转，心悸烦闷，手足无力，骨节疼痛痹阻，言语謇涩，口眼抽动，神思恍惚，痰涎壅滞，昏沉迷糊健忘，虚烦少睡。
防风（洗净）、川芎、天麻（去苗，酒浸一夜）、甘草（炙制，各二两）、朱砂（研细，作包衣，半两）。
以上药物研为细末，用炼蜜制成丸药，每两药粉做十丸，用朱砂包衣。每次服用一丸，用荆芥汤化开服用，用茶、酒送服也可以，不拘时间。
犀角丸（出自《和剂局方》）清除三焦邪热，疏泄一切风气，治疗风盛痰实，头目昏重，肢节拘急，痰涎壅滞，肠胃燥涩，大小便困难。
黄连（去须）、犀角（镑片，各十两）、人参（去芦，二十两）、大黄（八十两）、黑牵牛（一百二十两，炒制，另捣取粉，六十两）。
将上述药物与牵牛粉混合，研为细末，用炼蜜制成如梧桐子大小的丸药。每次服用十五丸至二十丸，临睡前用温汤送下。更需根据虚实情况加减剂量。
排风汤（出自《和剂局方》）治疗男女因风虚冷湿气入脏，胡言乱语，精神错乱。肝风发作则面色青，心中闷，吐逆呕沫，胁肋胀满，头眩沉重，耳听不见人声，偏枯筋急，屈膝蜷卧。心风发作则面色红，忽然而热，悲伤愤怒，眼睁大叫喊。脾风发作则面色黄，身体麻木不仁，不能行走，饮食无味，梦境颠倒错乱，如同跟随死人一样。肺风发作则面色白，咳嗽气逆唾脓血，上气奄奄一息极危重。肾风发作则面色黑，手足不能随意运动，腰痛难以俯仰，痹冷骨疼，如果有这些症状，令人心惊，意志不定，恍惚多忘。服用此汤能安心定志，聪耳明目，通治脏腑诸风疾。
白鲜皮、当归（酒浸一夜）、肉桂（去粗皮）、芍药（白色者）、杏仁（去皮尖，麸炒）、甘草（炒制）、防风、川芎、白术（各二两）、独活、麻黄（去根节）、茯苓（去皮，各三两）。

骨碎补丸（出自《和剂局方》）治疗肝肾风虚，上攻下注，筋脉拘挛，骨节疼痛，头面浮肿，手臂无力，腰背强痛，脚膝软弱，屈伸不利，行走艰难。
荆芥穗、白附子（炮制）、牛膝（酒浸，焙干）、肉苁蓉（酒浸一夜，切片，焙干，各一两）、骨碎补（去毛，炒制）、威灵仙（去苗）、缩砂仁（各半两）、地龙（去土，微炒）、没药（各二钱半）、自然铜（醋淬九遍）、草乌头（炮制，去皮脐）、半夏（汤洗七次，各半两）。
以上药物研为细末，用酒煮面糊制成丸药，如梧桐子大小。每次服用五丸至七丸，用温酒送下，妇人用醋汤或当归酒送下。孕妇不宜服用。
乌荆丸（见下血条下。）
大三五七散（出自《和剂局方》）治疗八风五痹，瘫痪牵引，口眼歪斜，眉角牵引，项背拘强，牙关紧急，心中昏闷，神色如醉，遍身发热，骨节烦疼，肌肉麻木，腰膝不仁，皮肤跳动，或者感觉如虫行。又治疗阳虚头痛，风寒入脑，目旋运转，如在舟船之上，耳内蝉鸣，或者如风雨之声，应风寒湿痹、香港脚（脚气）缓弱等疾病。
山茱萸、干姜（炮制）、茯苓（去皮，各三斤）、细辛（一斤八两）、防风（四斤）、附子（炮制，去皮脐，三十五枚）。
以上药物研为细末，用温酒调服二钱，饭前服用。
四生散（出自《和剂局方》）治疗男女肝肾风毒上攻，眼赤痒痛，不时羞明多泪，下注脚膝生疮，以及遍身风癣，服药无效，平时常觉两耳中痒。
黄芪、川羌活、蒺藜（沙苑者）、白附子（各等分，生用）。
以上药物研为细末，每次服用二钱，用薄荷酒调服。如果是肾脏风下注生疮，将猪腰剖开，放入药二钱合定，用纸包裹煨熟，空腹细细咀嚼，用盐酒送下。
省风汤（出自《和剂局方》）治疗卒急中风，口噤完全不能说话，口眼歪斜，筋脉挛急，抽搐疼痛，风盛痰实，眩晕僵仆，头目眩重，胸膈烦满，左瘫右痪，手足麻痹，骨节烦疼，步履艰辛，恍惚不定，神志昏沉迷糊，一切风证，可以预先服用。
防风、南星（生用，各四两）、半夏（白好者，水浸洗，生用）、黄芩（去粗皮）、甘草（生用，各二两）。
切碎，每次服用四大钱，用水二大盏，生姜十片，煎至一中盏，去渣滓温服，不拘时间。
四生丸（出自《和剂局方》）治疗左瘫右痪，口眼歪斜，中风涎急，半身不遂，不能举动的，都予以治疗。
五灵脂（去石）、骨碎补、川乌头（去皮尖）、当归（各等分）。
以上药物研为细末，用无灰酒打面糊制成丸药，如梧桐子大小。每次服用七丸，逐渐加至十五丸，用温酒送下。服用此药不要服用灵宝丹，恐怕药效相互影响。
轻脚丸 治疗左瘫右痪，脚弱不能行走。
木鳖子（另研）、白胶香（另研）、白芍药（各二两）、草乌（去皮尖，四两）、赤小豆（一两，另研为末，打糊）。
以上药物研为细末，用赤豆糊制成丸药，如梧桐子大小。每次七丸，加至十丸，用温酒或木瓜汤送下，病在上部饭后临睡前服，病在下部空腹服。忌食热物一时许。
伏虎丹（出自《和剂局方》）专治左瘫右痪。
生干地黄、蔓荆子、白僵蚕（炒去丝，各二钱半）、五灵脂（去皮，半两）、踯躅花（炒制）、南星、白胶香、草乌（炮制，各一两）。
研为细末，用酒煮半夏末为糊制成丸药，如龙眼大小。每一丸分四次服用，用酒吞下，每日进服两次。（这是建康乌衣巷有一位姓钟的老人，素来喜好道术，因饮酒患风疾，百治无效，一日忽然有道人到来，传授此方药服用，道人忽然消失，不久病愈，才知道是仙方。）
换腿丸（出自《和剂局方》）治疗肾经虚弱，下注腰膝，或者当风取凉，冷气乘虚而入，沉重无力，移步迟缓，筋脉挛痛，不能屈伸，脚心隐痛，仿佛怕踩到地面。大治干湿香港脚（脚气），赤肿痛楚，发作无时，呻吟难忍，气满喘促，举动艰难，面色黧黑，传送秘涩，都予以治疗。
薏苡仁、石楠叶、南星（洗，姜制炒）、川牛膝（酒浸，焙干）、肉桂（去粗皮）、当归（去芦）、天麻（去苗）、附子（炮制，去皮脐）、羌活、防风（去杈）、石斛（去根）、萆薢（微炙）、黄芪（蜜炙）、续断（各一两）、苍术（米泔浸，一两半）、槟榔（半两）、干木瓜（四两）。
以上药物研为细末，用面糊制成丸药，如梧桐子大小。每次服用三十丸至五十丸，空腹用温酒或木瓜汤送下，每日二三次。常服可舒筋轻足，永无香港脚（脚气）之患。（过去有人患此疾，服用一个月，脚力顿时强健，确有换腿之功。）
左经丸（出自《和剂局方》）治疗左瘫右痪，手足颤动掉落，言语謇涩，浑身疼痛，筋脉拘挛，不得屈伸，项背强直，下注脚膝，行走艰难，以及跌扑闪肭，外伤内损。常服可通经络，活血脉，疏风顺气，壮骨轻身。
生黑豆（一斤，用斑蝥二十一枚去头足同煮，待豆子胀大为止，去掉斑蝥取豆子焙干）、川乌（炮制，去皮脐，二两）、乳香（研细，一两）、没药（一两半）、草乌（炮制，四两）。
以上药物研为细末，用醋糊制成丸药，如梧桐子大小。每次服用三十丸，用温酒送下，不拘时间。
木瓜丸（出自《和剂局方》）治疗肾经虚弱，下攻腰膝，沉重无力，腿脚肿痒，疰破生疮，脚心隐痛，筋脉拘挛，或者腰膝软弱，步履艰难，举动喘促，面色黧黑，大小便秘涩，饮食减少，无论新旧，都适宜服用。
熟地黄（洗净，焙干）、陈皮（去白）、乌药（各四两）、黑牵牛（三两）、右楠藤、杏仁（去皮尖）、当归、肉苁蓉（酒浸，焙干）、干木瓜、续断、牛膝（酒浸，各二两）、赤芍药（一两）。
以上药物研为细末，用酒糊制成丸药，如梧桐子大小。空腹用木瓜汤吞服三五十丸，用温酒送下也可以。
犀角防风汤（出自《统旨方》）治疗一切诸风，口眼歪斜，手足牵引下垂，语言謇涩，四肢麻木。
犀角（磨水，临服时加入）、防风、甘草（炙制）、天麻、羌活（各五分）、滑石（一钱五分）、石膏（七分）、麻黄、独活、山栀（各五分）、荆芥、连翘、当归、黄芩、全蝎（炒制）、薄荷、桔梗、白术、细辛（各四分）。
用水二盅，生姜五片，煎至一盅，稍热服用，取汗。大便秘结，加大黄一钱。
追风如圣散（出自《统旨方》）治疗男女各种风证，左瘫右痪，半身不遂，口眼歪斜，腰腿疼痛，手足顽麻，语言謇涩，行走艰难，遍身疮癣，上攻头目，耳内蝉鸣，痰涎不利，皮肤搔痒，偏正头风，无论新旧。以及破伤风，角弓反张，蛇犬咬伤，金刃所伤，血出不止，敷之立止。
川乌、草乌、苍术（各四两）、金钗石斛（一两）、川芎、白芷、细辛、当归、防风、麻黄、荆芥、何首乌、全蝎、天麻、藁本（各五钱）、甘草（三两）、人参（三钱）、两头尖（二钱）。
以上药物研为细末，每次服用半钱匕，临睡前用茶清送下，用温酒送下也可以，不要多喝酒。服药后忌食一切热物饮食一时许，恐怕扰动药力。
蠲风饮子（出自《正传》）治疗中风瘫痪，口眼歪斜，以及一切手足走注疼痛，肢节挛急，麻痹不仁。

Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Make pills with refined honey, size of a bullet. Coat with 5 qian of Zhusha (Cinnabaris). After meals and before bedtime, chew one pill and swallow with Bohe Tang (Mint Decoction).
Jieyu Tang (Decoction for Unblocking Speech) (Another version contains Shichangpu and Yuanzhi.)
Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Fangfeng, Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Chuanxiong, Nanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Gancao, Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen), Lingyangjiao (Saigae Tataricae Cornu), all in equal parts.
Decoct in water, add Ban Zhalü (Bambusae Latex) half a zhan, boil two or three more times, then take.
Hezi Tang (Persimmon Seed Decoction) (See Aphasia section.)
Zhengshe San (Powder for Straightening the Tongue) (From Baojian) Treats stroke with tongue stiffness and slurred speech.
Xionghuang (Realgar, finely ground), Jingjiesui (Schizonepetae Spica), equal parts.
Grind into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with Doulinjiu (Bean-infused Wine).
Fushen San (Poria Powder) (From Baojian) Treats the same symptoms as above.
Fushenxin (Poria with Hostwood, stir-fried) 1 liang, Bohe 2 liang (roasted), Xeshao (Scorpion tail, detoxified) 5 qian.
Grind into powder. Take 1-2 qian per dose, mixed with warm wine.
Treatment for stroke-induced aphasia: Take a small amount of Gui Niao (Turtle Urine), apply to the tongue. Miraculous effect.
Method to obtain Turtle Urine: Place a turtle on a fresh lotus leaf, stimulate its nostrils with pig bristles; urine will flow out immediately.
Qingxin San (Clear Heart Powder)
Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), Pengsha (Borax), Bohe, each 2 qian; Niuhuang (Bovis Calculus), Bingpian (Borneolum Syntheticum), each 3 fen.
Grind into powder. First wash the tongue with honey water, then wipe with ginger juice. Dilute the powder with honey water and apply to the root of the tongue.
[Body Pain]
Tiedan Wan (Iron Pill) (From Heji Ju Fang) Treats sudden severe stroke with confused consciousness, locked jaw, staring eyes, convulsions of limbs, facial paralysis, excessive salivation, slurred speech, muscle spasms, bone pain, hemiplegia, numbness, itching, any wind disease, as well as traumatic injuries, joint pain. It unblocks meridians and invigorates blood vessels.
Ruxiang (Frankincense, separately ground), Moyao (Myrrh, separately ground), each 1 liang; Chuan Wutou (Aconiti Radix Preparata, processed, skin and umbilicus removed, powdered) 1.5 liang; Wulingzhi (Trogopterori Faeces, soaked in wine, washed to remove sand, dried, powdered) 4 liang; Shexiang (Moschus, finely ground) 1 qian.
First grind Ruxiang and Moyao finely in a cool place. Add Shexiang, then add other powders, mix evenly. Add drops of water to form pills size of bullets. Take one pill per dose, after meals and before bedtime, dissolve in Mint Wine and take.
Shiwei Cuo San (Ten-Ingredient Cut Powder) (From Yijian Fang) Treats stroke with blood deficiency, arm pain radiating to sinews and bones, difficulty in movement.
Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata) 3 liang (processed), Danggui (washed), Huangqi (Astragali Radix, roasted), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), each 2 liang; Chuanxiong, Fangfeng, Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), each 1.5 liang; Rougui 1 liang; Fuling (Poria), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), each 7.5 qian.
Take 4 qian per dose. Decoct with one zhan of water, 8 slices of ginger, and 3 dates. Take after meals and before bedtime.
Juanbi Tang (Bi-Syndrome Dispelling Decoction) Treats rheumatism where wind and dampness contend, causing body ache, cold bi-syndrome in hands and feet, heaviness in limbs. (See Bi-Syndrome section.)
[Confusion/Dizziness]
ZhiSheng Baoming Jin Dan (Supreme Life-Preserving Golden Pill) (From Baojian) Treats stroke with facial paralysis, limb dragging, slurred speech, inability to move limbs, mental confusion, and excess phlegm.
Guanzhong (Cyatheae Spora), Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) 7 qian, Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) 0.5 liang, Qingdai, Banlangen (Isatidis Radix), each 3 qian; Zhusha (Cinnabaris, ground), Niuhuang, Puhuang (Typhae Pollen), Bohe, each 2.5 qian; Zhu Zi (Pearl, ground), Longnao (Borneolum, ground), each 1.5 qian; Shexiang 1 qian (ground).
Grind the twelve ingredients into powder, mix with the ground medicines. Make pills size of Euryale seeds with honey. Coat with Gold Leaf. Chew one pill thoroughly, swallow with clear tea water; new well water is also acceptable. If the patient cannot chew, dissolve in Mint Decoction and take at any time. This pill settles phlegm with great efficacy.
Niuhuang Qingxin Wan (Calculus Bovis Clear Heart Pill) (From Heji Ju Fang) Treats various wind syndromes causing flaccid paralysis, slurred speech, palpitations, forgetfulness, mental instability, dizziness, chest oppression, phlegm obstruction, and mental confusion. Also treats insufficient heart qi, unstable spirit, fear, sadness, vexation, insomnia, erratic emotions, mania, and delirium.
Baishao, Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix, heart removed), Huangqin, Danggui (rootlets removed), Fangfeng (rootlets removed), Baizhu, each 1.5 liang; Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Jiegeng, Chuanxiong, Baifuling (Poria, skin removed), Xingren (Pruni Armeniaci Semen, skin and tip removed, double kernel, bran-roasted yellow, separately ground), each 1.25 liang; Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata, ground), Puhuang (stir-fried), Renshen (rhizome removed), each 2.5 liang; Lingyangjiao (shavings), Shexiang (ground), Longnao (ground), each 1 liang; Rougui (bark removed), Dayehuangjuan (Sojae Semens Preparatum, crushed, roasted), Ejiao (Asini Corii Colla, crushed, roasted), each 1.75 liang; Bailian (Trollii Bulbus), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, processed), each 7.5 qian; Niuhuang (ground) 1.2 liang; Xijiao xie (Rhinocerotis Cornu shavings) 2 liang; Xionghuang (ground, sublimated) 8 qian; Ganshan Yao (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma) 7 liang; Gancao (cut, roasted) 5 liang; Jinbo (Gold Leaf) 1200 pieces (400 pieces for coating); Dazao (Ziziphi Jujubae Fructus) 100 pieces (steamed, skin and pit removed, pounded into paste).
Except for dates, apricot kernels, gold leaf, rhino horn shavings, antelope horn shavings, niuhuang, xionghuang, and shexiang, grind the rest into fine powder. Mix with remaining medicines. Use refined honey and date paste to make pills. Each liang of powder makes 10 pills. Coat with gold leaf. Take one pill per dose, dissolve in warm water, take after meals. For pediatric convulsions, adjust dosage according to age, dissolve in Bamboo Leaf Decoction.
Fangtong Tongsheng San (Wind-Blocking Universal Benefit Powder) (See Dizziness section.)
Sanyi Chengqi Tang (Three-One Purging Decoction) (From Xuanming Lun) Treats abdominal fullness and solid pain of Da Chengqi Tang syndrome in Shanghan, delirium and diarrhea of Tiaowei Chengqi Tang syndrome, internal heat and constipation of Xiao Chengqi Tang syndrome. Sanyi Chengqi Tang combines these three. It also treats sudden collapse in stroke and wind epilepsy attacks. This is a purgative formula.
Dahuang (with brocade patterns), Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, skin removed), Zhishi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), each 0.5 liang; Gancao 1 liang.
Decoct with 1.5 zhong of water and 3 slices of ginger until 0.7 zhong remains. Add Mangxiao, boil twice. Strain and take warm. Any time. Stop when bowel movement occurs.
Fangfeng Wan (Saposhnikovia Pill) (From Heji Ju Fang) Treats all wind and phlegm-heat attacking upwards, causing headache, nausea, neck/back stiffness, dizziness, palpitations, weakness in limbs, joint pain/bi, slurred speech, twitching of mouth/eyes, mental vagueness, phlegm obstruction, confusion, forgetfulness, vexation, insomnia.
Fangfeng (washed), Chuanxiong, Tianma (rootlets removed, soaked in wine overnight), Gancao (roasted), each 2 liang; Zhusha (ground, for coating) 0.5 liang.
Grind into powder. Make pills with refined honey, 10 pills per liang. Coat with Zhusha. Take one pill per dose, dissolve in Schizonepeta Tea. Tea or wine chewing is also acceptable. Any time.
Xijiao Wan (Rhino Horn Pill) (From Heji Ju Fang) Clears pathogenic heat from the Triple Burner, disperses all wind, treats wind excess with phlegm-solidity, heavy head/eyes, limb stiffness, phlegm obstruction, dry intestines/stomach, difficult urination/defecation.
Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma,须 removed), Xijiao (sliced), each 10 liang; Renshen (rhizome removed) 20 liang; Dahuang 80 liang; Hei Qianniu (Pharbitidis Semen Nigrum, roasted, separately pounded for powder) 120 liang (powder part 60 liang).
Mix with Qianniu powder, grind fine. Make pills size of Sophora seeds with honey. Take 15-20 pills per dose, warm water before bed. Adjust based on deficiency/excess.
Paifeng Tang (Expel Wind Decoction) (From Heji Ju Fang) Treats men and women with wind-deficiency, cold-dampness entering viscera, delirium, mental disorder. Liver wind onset: blue face, chest oppression, vomiting foam, hypochondriac fullness, heavy dizziness, deafness, hemiplegia, tendon spasm, curled posture. Heart wind onset: red face, sudden heat, sadness/anger, wide eyes, shouting. Spleen wind onset: yellow face, body numbness, inability to walk, loss of taste, inverted dreams, following dead people. Lung wind onset: white face, cough/wheezing, spitting pus/blood, extreme shortness of breath. Kidney wind onset: black face, incoordination of limbs, lower back pain, stiff/cold bone pain, palpitations, unstable will, forgetfulness. This decoction calms the mind, improves hearing/vision, treats all visceral wind diseases.
Baixianpi (Dictamni Cortex), Danggui (soaked in wine overnight), Rougui (bark removed), Shaoyao (white), Xingren (skin/tip removed, bran-roasted), Gancao (roasted), Fangfeng, Chuanxiong, Baizhu, each 2 liang; Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, roots/joints removed), Fuling (skin removed), each 3 liang.
Cut into coarse pieces. Take 3 qian per dose. Decoct with 1.5 zhan water, 4 ginger slices, until 0.8 zhan remains. Strain and take warm. Any time.
Bafeng San (Eight Winds Powder) (From Heji Ju Fang) Treats wind attacking upwards, dizziness, limb stiffness/ache, skin sores/itching, cold stagnation, nasal congestion/heavy voice.
Huoxiang (Agastaches Herba, dirt removed) 0.5 jin, Baizhi, Qianhu (Peucedani Radix, rhizome removed), each 1 jin; Huangqi (rhizome removed), Gancao (roasted), Renshen (rhizome removed), each 2 jin; Qianghuo (rhizome removed), Fangfeng (rhizome removed), each 3 jin.
Grind fine. Take 2 qian per dose. Decoct with 1 zhan water, a little Bohe, until 0.7 zhan remains. Strain, take warm after meals. Large qian mixed with Lab Cha (winter tea) is also acceptable. For pediatric deficient wind, mix with Ruxiang and Lab Cha, take 0.5 qian, adjust by child's size.
Gusuibu Wan (Drynaria Pill) (From Heji Ju Fang) Treats liver/kidney wind-deficiency, attacking up/down, tendon spasms, joint pain, facial swelling, arm weakness, back stiffness, leg/knee weakness, limited mobility, difficult walking.
Jingjiesui, Baifuzi (processed), Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, wine-soaked, roasted), Rongzhuu (Cistanches Rhizoma, wine-soaked overnight, sliced, roasted), each 1 liang; Gusuibu (Drynariae Rhizoma, hair removed, roasted), Weilingxian (Selaginellae Terrestre Herba), Suasharen (Amomi Fructus Rotundus), each 0.5 liang; Dilong (Pheretima, earth removed, lightly roasted), Moyao, each 2.5 qian; Ziran Tong (Natural Pyrite, quenched in vinegar 9 times), Caowutou (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix, processed, skin/umbilicus removed), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed in water 7 times), each 0.5 liang.
Grind fine. Make pills with flour paste boiled in wine, size of Sophora seeds. Take 5-7 pills per dose, warm wine. Women use vinegar soup or Danggui wine. Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Wu Jing Wan (See Hematochezia section.)
Da San Wu Qi San (Great Three-Five-Seven Powder) (From Heji Ju Fang) Treats eight winds and five bi-syndromes, paralysis/dragging, facial paralysis, eyebrow traction, neck/back stiffness, locked jaw, mental confusion, drunken appearance, whole-body fever, joint ache, muscle numbness, insensate waist/knees, skin twitching, sensation of insects crawling. Also treats yang-deficiency headache, wind-cold entering brain, spinning vertigo (like in a boat), tinnitus (cicada/wind/rain sounds), wind-cold-damp bi, gout, and limb weakness.
Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus), Ganjiang (processed), Fuling (skin removed), each 3 jin; Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) 1.8 jin; Fangfeng 4 jin; Fuzi (processed, skin/umbilicus removed) 35 pieces.
Grind fine. Take 2 qian mixed with warm wine, before meals.
Si Sheng San (Four Generations Powder) (From Heji Ju Fang) Treats men/women with liver/kidney wind-toxin attacking upwards, red/itchy/painful eyes, photophobia/tearing, lower injection sores on legs/knees, generalized wind-tinea, ineffective medication, frequent ear itching.
Huangqi, Chuan Qianghuo, Jili (Tribuli Fructus, Shanyuan variety), Baifuzi, equal parts (raw use).
Grind fine. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with Mint Wine. For kidney wind lower injection sores, split a pig kidney, insert 2 qian of medicine, wrap in paper, roast until cooked. Chew finely on an empty stomach, swallow with salt wine.
Shengfeng Tang (Eliminate Wind Decoction) (From Heji Ju Fang) Treats acute stroke, locked jaw unable to speak, facial paralysis, tendon spasms, convulsions/pain, wind excess/phlegm solidity, vertigo/collapse, heavy head/eyes, chest oppression, left/right hemiplegia, limb numbness, joint ache, difficult walking, mental instability, confusion. Prevents all wind syndromes if taken prophylactically.
Fangfeng, Nanxing (raw use), each 4 liang; Banxia (good white ones, water-soaked, washed, raw use), Huangqin (bark removed), Gancao (raw use), each 2 liang.
Chop. Take 4 large qian per dose. Decoct with 2 large zhan water, 10 ginger slices, until 1 zhan remains. Strain, take warm. Any time.
Si Sheng Wan (Four Generations Pill) (From Heji Ju Fang) Treats left/right hemiplegia, facial paralysis, acute stroke phlegm, hemiplegia unable to lift limbs.
Wulingzhi (stones removed), Gusuibu, Chuan Wutou (tip/skin removed), Danggui, equal parts.
Grind fine. Make pills with non-grain alcohol and flour paste, size of Sophora seeds. Take 7 pills, gradually increase to 15 pills, warm wine. Do not take Lingbao Dan with this medicine, lest efficacy be compromised.
Qingjiao Wan (Light Foot Pill) Treats left/right hemiplegia, weak legs unable to walk.
Mubiezi (separately ground), Baijiaoxiang (separately ground), Baishao, each 2 liang; Caowu (tip/skin removed) 4 liang; Chixiaodou (Adzuki Bean) 1 liang (separately ground to powder, make paste).
Make pills with adzuki bean paste, size of Sophora seeds. Take 7 pills, increase to 10 pills, warm wine or Quince Decoction. If disease is upper, take after meals/before bed; if lower, take on empty stomach. Avoid hot foods briefly.
Fuhu Dan (Tiger Subduing Pill) (From Heji Ju Fang) Specifically treats left/right hemiplegia.
Sheng Gan Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), Manjingzi (Viticis Fructus), Bai Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, roasted, silk removed), each 2.5 qian; Wulingzhi (skin removed) 0.5 liang; Zhizhu Hua (Daphnes Genkwa Flower, roasted), Nanxing, Baijiaoxiang, Caowu (processed), each 1 liang.
Grind fine. Make pills with Pinellia powder boiled in wine, size of longan. Divide one pill into four doses, swallow with wine, twice daily. (An old man surnamed Zhong in Wuyi Alley, Jiankang, loved Daoism, suffered wind disease from alcohol, treated unsuccessfully. A Daoist appeared, gave this prescription, then vanished. The man recovered, realizing it was an immortal prescription.)
Huantui Wan (Leg Replacing Pill) (From Heji Ju Fang) Treats kidney meridian deficiency, sinking to waist/knees, cooling in wind, heaviness/weakness, slow movement, tendon spasms, inability to bend/stretch, hidden foot pain, fear of stepping. Greatly treats wet/dry gout (Hong Kong Foot/Jiaoxi), red/swollen/painful, unpredictable attacks, groaning, shortness of breath, difficult movement, dark complexion, constipation.
Yiyiren (Coicis Semen), Shinanye (Photiniae Folium), Nanxing (washed, ginger-processed roasted), Chuan Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, wine-soaked, roasted), Rougui, Danggui, Tianma, Fuzi (processed, skin/umbilicus removed), Qianghuo, Fangfeng (branches removed), Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis, roots removed), Bibi (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma, lightly roasted), Huangqi (honey-roasted), Xuduan (Dipsaci Radix), each 1 liang; Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, rice-water soaked) 1.5 liang; Binglang (Arecae Semen) 0.5 liang; Gan Mugua (Chaenomelis Fructus) 4 liang.
Grind fine. Make pills with flour paste, size of Sophora seeds. Take 30-50 pills per dose, warm wine or Quince Decoction on empty stomach, 2-3 times daily. Regular use relaxes tendons, lightens feet, prevents gout. (Someone took it for a month, leg strength improved greatly, truly having the merit of replacing legs.)
Zuojing Wan (Left Meridian Pill) (From Heji Ju Fang) Treats left/right hemiplegia, limb tremors, slurred speech, whole-body pain, tendon spasms, inability to bend/stretch, neck/back stiffness, sinking to legs/knees, difficult walking, falls/dislocations, external/internal injury. Regular use unblocks meridians, invigorates blood, vents wind, regulates qi, strengthens bones, lightens body.
Sheng Heidou (Black Soybean) 1 jin (boiled with 21 Banmao without heads/feet until beans swell, remove Banmao, dry beans), Chuan Wu (processed, skin/umbilicus removed) 2 liang; Ruxiang (ground) 1 liang; Moyao 1.5 liang; Caowu (processed) 4 liang.
Grind fine. Make pills with vinegar paste, size of Sophora seeds. Take 30 pills per dose, warm wine. Any time.
Mugua Wan (Quince Pill) (From Heji Ju Fang) Treats kidney meridian deficiency, attacking waist/knees, heaviness/weakness, leg/foot swelling/itching, sores, hidden foot pain, tendon spasms, weak waist/knees, difficult walking, panting, dark complexion, constipation, poor appetite. Suitable for all cases regardless of duration.
Shu Dihuang (washed, roasted), Chenpi (white pith removed), Wuyao (each 4 liang); Hei Qianniu 3 liang; You Nanteng (Sinomenii Caulis), Xingren (skin/tip removed), Danggui, Rongzhuu (wine-soaked, roasted), Gan Mugua, Xuduan, Niuxi (wine-soaked), each 2 liang; Chi Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra) 1 liang.
Grind fine. Make pills with wine paste, size of Sophora seeds. Swallow 30-50 pills on empty stomach with Quince Decoction; warm wine is also acceptable.
Xijiao Fangfeng Tang (Rhino Horn and Saposhnikovia Decoction) (From Tongzhi Fang) Treats all wind syndromes, facial paralysis, limb dragging, slurred speech, limb numbness.
Xijiao (grated for water, add before taking), Fangfeng, Gancao (roasted), Tianma, Qianghuo, each 5 fen; Huashi (Talcum) 1.5 qian; Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) 7 fen; Mahuang, Duhuo, Shanzhi (Gardeniae Fructus), each 5 fen; Jingjie, Lianqiao, Danggui, Huangqin, Quanxie (Scorpio, roasted), Bohe, Jiegeng, Baizhu, Xixin, each 4 fen.
Decoct with 2 zhong water, 5 ginger slices, until 1 zhong remains. Take slightly warm to induce sweating. If constipated, add Dahuang 1 qian.
Zhuifeng Rusheng San (Wind-Chasing Holy Powder) (From Tongzhi Fang) Treats various wind syndromes in men/women, left/right hemiplegia, hemiplegia, facial paralysis, waist/leg pain, limb numbness, slurred speech, difficult walking, generalized sores/tinea, attacking head/eyes, tinnitus, phlegm difficulty, skin itching, headache (fixed/migratory), old/new cases. Also traumatic tetanus, opisthotonos, snake/dog bites, knife wounds, uncontrollable bleeding (topical application stops bleeding immediately).
Chuan Wu, Caowu, Cangzhu, each 4 liang; Jinchai Shihu (Dendrobii Nobile Caulis) 1 liang; Chuanxiong, Baizhi, Xixin, Danggui, Fangfeng, Mahuang, Jingjie, Heshouwu (Polygoni Multiflori Radix), Quanxie, Tianma, Ben (Ligustici Wallichii Rhizoma), each 5 qian; Gancao 3 liang; Renshen 3 qian; Liangtoujian (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma specific part) 2 qian.
Grind fine. Take half a qian-bi (measure) per dose, before bed with clear tea; warm wine is also acceptable. Do not drink much alcohol. Avoid hot foods/drinks for a while after taking to prevent disturbing medicinal power.
Juan Feng Yin Zi (Wind-Dispelling Drink) (From Zhengzhuan) Treats stroke paralysis, facial paralysis, and all wandering pains in hands/feet, joint spasms, numbness.
