The pulse is the root of human life. The physical form is the branch (manifestation) of humans. The branch and root should correspond with each other. Therefore, a robust physical form with a large pulse indicates a favorable condition (Shun); a small pulse indicates an unfavorable condition (Ni). A thin physical form with a small pulse indicates a favorable condition; a large pulse indicates an unfavorable condition. In acute diseases characterized by excess pathogens, a robust physical form with a surging, full, and solid pulse indicates a favorable condition; a faint and deficient pulse indicates an unfavorable condition. In chronic diseases characterized by deficiency, a thin physical form with a slow pulse indicates a favorable condition; a rapid and solid pulse indicates an unfavorable condition. The Classics state: "A robust physical form with a fine pulse, shortness of breath, and insufficient respiration indicates critical danger." "A thin physical form with a large pulse and a sensation of excessive Qi in the chest indicates death." This is indeed true.
